By far the best store of its kind in the DC/MD/VA area. A well-lit, pleasant space, merchandise impeccably organized and easy to browse through, the staff pleasant and helpful, and a great selection of movies and recordings of all genres - there is always a good chance you may find something rare or hard to find at this place. I have been to many other used record stores in and around Washington DC, and none of the others can match this one. A perfect place to visit and browse on a fine afternoon.

Incredibly vast selection of music. I’ve been in the DC area for years and love vinyl and I’m amazed that I haven’t been here yet. Massive store, has everything for everyone. Also has niche favorites of mine that I was personally amazed (and pleased) to see. If you want to support a local Music Store, look no further. With the biggest selection of music on offer in the entire mid-Atlantic, CD Cellar is one of the best record stores I have been to.

This is heaven for vinyl record collectors
Great selection across all genres. Mix of new and used with a friendly staff. Small parking lot on premises, but public parking is right across the street.

I am a visitor from the Netherlands, and I found out about CD Cellar by asking google if there were any recordshops nearby. Luck steered me to this fantatic shop. Relatively easy to find with several parkingplaces available. Although they do not carry new CDs, the collection of used CDs is excellent. Next to that there are a huge amount of new and used LPs. I have one suggestion, create a place where you can place the boxes with singles for easier going through them. This is a great place for old fashioned music lovers. I wished that we had such a shop in the Netherlands, I would be a regular.

Great record store, great selection, very friendly and helpful employees, fair prices. Visited while on a trip, had to leave after two hours before got into more trouble than I already was.

I’m a frequent customer. They are second to none in DMV. I especially appreciate their selection of higher value used vinyl. I’ve purchased a number of my favorites from this selection. I also love browsing the high value new arrivals. I’ve visited dozens of record stores. If CD Cellar lacks anything, it’s the grungy charm that you find in many older (and smaller) shops.

One of the best selections of vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and blu rays I’ve ever seen in person.

I've been going to CD Cellar for a quarter of a century in three different locations. Like most used CD stores, it takes some time to find what you're looking for because maintaining the ever-changing inventory in an organized fashion is quite difficult and time consuming.
The best part is that I always feel welcome there and every employee is pleasant and ready to help.

CD Cellar is one cool little local record store! It seems like these places are a dying breed as more people give up on owning their music on a physical format and gravitate towards streaming or downloads. I have Spotify myself but I like the improved audio quality of CDs. There are some lossless streaming options out there but I also like owning my music on a physical format. I also have a tendency to skip around when I listen to a steaming service but putting a physical album on kind of forces me to listen to the whole thing, the way it was intended to be heard.

I'm a getting a bit off topic, but my point is that even in this era of music consumption there are still good reasons to buy CDs or vinyl (which CD Cellar also traffics in). I wanted to put that out there as a rebuttal to the people who don't see the point in record stores and hopefully to encourage some of them to change their minds.

Anyway, back to CD Cellar -- it's a great little spot and has a wide variety of music which is all pretty well organized. From looking around the shelves it seemed like they were a little lacking in certain genres (hip hop, rap, and country), but there's a lot of rock, jazz, and classical. Unless I missed a different shelf or part of the store, which is entirely possible. In any case you should be able to find the seminal works of each genre and then some. The prices are great and the CDs I bought were high quality. In addition to music, they also have some new and used hi fi components, which I thought was a cool touch. I didn't see any of the items for sale hooked up but the person working the desk was friendly and I think they'd probably let you demo something if you were interested. All in all, CD Cellar is an awesome store and I would support them again.

So many cds and vinyl. Honestly probably one of if not the biggest in the dmv. CD prices are fair and the selection is impressive

I’ve been here a couple of times now and each time I go I’m always amazed! The staff there are super nice! They’re eager to help if you need, and to be honest, you’ll need it because they have such a large selection of vinyls and CDs both new and old that it’s easy to get lost 😅

The prices are rather affordable in comparison to other places I’ve been, do remember you’re shopping small when buying so if something isn’t affordable to you then that’s okay! They also offer a great rewards program which makes shopping there worth it!

Has been a great experience for many years. Extensive collection of CDs, vinyl, and even cassettes. Staff have always been extremely friendly, helpful, and unpretentious. Pricing is absolutely fair for a brick and mortar shop. Couldn't have gotten my collection to where it is today without them!
