Penzeys Spices

It's a great place to smell the different spices, learn about their origin, and get ideas on how to use them. Who knew there were several kinds of cinnamon? They have a sandwich sprinkle, which I forgot to buy🙄, that would turn a plain turkey sandwich into a yummy, flavorful one. Pop your own popcorn the old fashion way? Sprinkle some Bouquet Garni on it.

Did you know that the common lemon pepper brand that you buy in your local grocery store contains sugar? Though I love lemon pepper, I don't love the sugar. Get your lemon pepper without sugar at Penzeys.😊

The place is a clean and relaxing environment. If I could, I would plop myself down in a corner with a good book and a mug of their hot chocolate, which is quite tasty. Guess what? It's the real stuff, not artificial.🤓

If you keep your jars when they're empty and you like the spices, buy the same spices in the bags to refill your jars.😊

Penzey's Spices is a unique and delightful shop. The Falls Church staff are terrific. The British woman is one of the loveliest sales people in the region. Correction: in the world. She makes the shopping experience all the more delightful.

Penzey's offers high quality herbs and spices. They also have fantastic herb and spice blends. Plus they have a variety of rare and difficult to find herbs/spices. For the gourmet home cook Penzey's is a treasure trove. For the novice cook Penzey's will be an oft visited library and place of learning.

The shop is warm, inviting, well-organized and neat. Many of the herbs/spices and all of Penzey's blends are in labeled apothecary jars. Make sure to open them up to take in their scent. It really helps in the decision making process.

They also sell beautiful hand-crafted wood mills for pepper, salt, nutmeg etc...gift boxes and baking supplies.

They have a lot of promotions. Sign-up for their emails and catalogue to be in-the-know.

Fantastic, high-quality spices you have to smell to believe. Selection includes pantry staples (like garlic powder and cinnamon) along with harder to find spices (white peppercorns, dried peppers, and whole seeds) and global spice blends (Chinese 5-spice, Garam Masala, steak rub, barbeque seasoning, etc). All spices come in mini and standard jars or bulk bags.
Staff are lovely and knowledgeable. Signing up for the email list yeilds frequent rewards (free samples of blends). Couldn't love Penzys more!

they are open for curbside pickup and are oh so helpful by phone 🥰 i put my order in online and picked it up in person - sometimes, i just want my things now rather than getting them shipped. plus, i love this falls church shop, as well as the quality of the spices. they even put your order on a cute little crate by the front door.

There is no place like Penzeys for spices! The flavors are stronger and better than you have ever found in a grocery store. The blends are take your cooking to the next level, allowing you to explore regional flavors and reduce the salt in your foods.

Admitted, I was hesitant of bespoke spices and costs. This brand certainly earns its value. Staff is very helpful. This made up my own and several other stocking staffers this year.

Amazing that stores like this can still survive but I'm glad Penzeys is here! I really enjoyed walking around the store and picking out spice blends. They have all the basics and then a countless amount of unique rubs and blends. Great idea for a gift or to treat yourself. Prices were reasonable as well.

I love Penzey's products. Once you've had their super fresh, highest quality herbs and spices, you will never go back to the inferior stuff on grocery store shelves. And I love their company philosophy and ethics, in particular their open support of diversity. This store is super clean with a friendly helpful staff. Always a great shopping experience!

I love this store. They have a vast selection of spices from all around the world. I get all of my seasonings from here. Plus if you sign up for their email list you receive discounts on popular spices and even free spices with just a $5 purchase.

What wonderful customer service! Penzey spices and I go way back, before we were lucky to get a storefront in our neighborhood. Not realizing I couldn't enter the store because of the pandemic, I placed called to the store from the parking lot and low and behold my order was waiting for me within minutes. The guy who answered the phone could not have been more efficient and was so friendly. Thank you for making me feel like a valued customer.

I absolutely love this shop! These spices have put my cooking into a whole new league. The staff are always very helpful and take as much time is needed to help with any questions you might have. They don't make you feel rushed or like you are bothering them if you need something. Make sure you sign up for their emails, they send out coupons for free spices all the time!

The spices are top notch. Have used their order ahead service as well as traditional in store purchasing. They always have what I am looking for. Mural of Flavor and Brady Street cheese sprinkle are the best!

Construction vehicles covered a lot of the parking lot, but we were able to find a good parking spot and go in. The store is clean required masks, not crowded and had every thing I wanted. And a few things I didn't even realize I wanted till I saw them! Helpful but not pushy employees were a real plus.

So hard to stick to a budget when I shop here. I've been an online Penzey's shopper for years and am always pleased with the quality and price. The staff at the Falls Church store are patient and helpful. The parking lot can get a little cutthroat, but there's an additional parking structure just beyond that.

A pretty nice, quaint little store. They had some decent promos at the time. A free 4-count box of different spices with any purchase and a choice between two spices if you spend over $40 or so. There are jars to open and smell every spice there. They come in usually three different sizes (sm, med, lg). Price-wise, it will NOT be cheaper by any means than say, McCormick but they have some different and unique blends. There are also information cards to help you get an idea what to use each spice for. Small store, good atmosphere. No complaints.
