The Art Museum of Colonial Williamsburg is a very nice museum. Everyone is very nice. Everything is very clean. The staff enjoy answering any questions that you can come up with. Everything is very well displayed. They also have a gift shop and a cafeteria in the building. We highly recommend these museums.

Wow!
What a fabulous place
Not just a recreation of a revolutionary war town, but an actual town from that era.
All trades represented and the people there are actually working in those trades, this keeping them alive for all to see and experience.
Yes, there is a bit of walking g, but oh so worth it.
Shuttle bus does help.
The art museum of folk and decoratives area is well laid out and not overwhelming. You see superior examples of what was absorbed during the 1700's in the fledgling country.
This place is a must see for all US history buffs

Amazing museum with interesting art of toys, antiques, and paintings. They have a few sections for kids to do art, which my kid loved!

The Museum is a great activity for those visiting Williamsburg. The Museum is on the smaller side so it took about two hours to go through the entire thing. The biggest exhibit was probably the furniture. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

This was our first time inside this art Musuem. Love the lockers they have to place bags in. That way I can explore the Musuem without being weighed down. The staff is super friendly. So much to see and read. It can definitely be a 2 day experience

A study of Williamsburg is a study of the beginnings of America. When settlers moved in, they brought with them their belongings, trades, and skills. This museum captures and displays more of that story than any museum I have seen before. It is a merger of two museums and funded by the Rockefeller foundation. It combines Wallace Decorative Arts and Abby Aldridge Rockefeller Museum. It is so large, a complete tour takes at least two days. We were awe struck at how perfectly laid out it is and how the American story is told so completely, regardless of national origin. There are theatrical presentations every day, presenting stories or demonstrations of life in the 1600s. We personally attended two them. One was a musical demonstration of period instruments and the other was a character presentation of a "nation builder." Both the museum and theater are a must-see.

This was not our first visit--we love the museum. We had a good lunch (homemade vegetable soup and harvest salad), and spent some time touring before a presentation in the auditorium. The museum was set up for Christmas, everyone was friendly and helpful, and we saw some great displays.

The museum was much larger than we expected. I enjoyed looking at the antique furniture, as well as the many other items in the museum. I also found it very interesting learning about the history of our country through the many displays there.

Amazing exhibits! especially loved the chair, map, clock, and folklore rooms! In the chair rooms you can sit in the make from each decade from the 1700s. Some were comfortable, others not. In the lower level they had silver platers? working.

Had a good time with my family.
The people there were very knowledgeable of their stations, and everyone was very friendly and happy to answer your questions. They probably dressed to there era.

The focus of this particular museum is very interesting, provides a very deep understanding of the life and times of the area - not just artwork - the collections and displays do an excellent job of conveying the message that design, creativity and artwork can and should permeate every aspect of our lives.

Perfect for a weekend visit! Enrich the knowledge about early glorious colonial times. The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, consist of two main institutions: the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.

Both museums offer a rich cultural experience for visitors interested in American history, art, and craftsmanship. They provide a deeper understanding of the material culture and artistic traditions of the colonial and early American periods.

Our first visit. What an absolutely fabulous place. Firstly, the museum was smartly laid out, with plenty of restrooms, sitting areas, and wide access areas. And the exhibits themselves. . . You need to pick a few topics that interest you (firearms, pottery, furniture making, the wood tradesmen, etc.,) and just immerse yourself. What a great addition to CW!!

I came here expecting a small art museum, but got blown away! You can really spend a whole day here with all they have. There’s classic paintings, antique china, statues, old clocks, and so much more. The exhibit has many colorful themed rooms that encompass so many aspects of history. You will certainly not be disappointed. I totally recommend going to this museum.

Amazing museum definitely worth the price! You can find lots of antique items and paintings. The museum is also pretty big so there is plenty to see and I haven’t even saw the whole thing yet!

Received free admission with Colonial Williamsburg multi-day pass. Great collection! It’s a shame that most of the folk art museum was “temporarily closed” when we went. Very friendly and beautiful space.
