The Schrader-Howell Funeral Home offered excellent service during a very difficult time for our family. At the initial consultation, Jeffrey answered all our questions, concerns and beyond. This meeting instantly put our mind at ease, as we knew our loved one would be in good care. In fact, the whole process was very smooth and comforting as expected.
Every detail of the funeral service was perfect and thoughtful. We had all the help we needed on every steps of the way. It was a sad and yet beautiful memory. Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Schrader-Howell funeral home. My father recently passed away and they ensured that he had a top-notch service. From the first call to Mr. Mike Howell, the funeral director, to every interaction with any staff member, they were wonderful to work with. Patty was also excellent in her assistance. From making sure the website obituary was perfect (my siblings kept wanting to add stuff!) to having my father receive full military honors (and the internment at Great Lakes National Cemetery), the staff was attentive and caring to every detail.
I am truly grateful that I found them online. It was Divine providence! If I am ever in need of such services (and I hope it will be a while!), I know who to call. My dad was a combat-decorated Korean Conflict veteran; he got a Celebration of Life service befitting a Purple Heart veteran!

The entire staff was very helpful, courteous, thoughtful and caring through the whole process. Jeff Bell guided us through the steps we needed to take to get everything done in short order. They were extremely helpful in putting together a wonderful slide show and obituary. The staff at Schrader was with us through the internment process at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Jeff made it a point to send pictures to the family when the niche was engraved and completed. Since mom died so close to Christmas (October), an ornament was placed on their Christmas tree and we were allowed to pick it up; this was a very nice gesture.
Schrader also took care of my father's funeral arrangements back in 2005 and they were just as helpful.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and all of the staff at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home for the excellent, caring and professional service that you provided in our time of sorrow over the death of my monther-in-law. This is the second time we have had to use Schraders funeral home. Our first experience was for my father’s and just recently for my mother’s funeral. Jeff Bell took care of everything from start to finish. He was truly understanding, caring and sympathetic to our needs. He held our hand through every step of the way. I couldn’t ask for a better service in the difficult time it was. I would highly recommend them. This is one of the most difficult times in one’s life to have to depend on a funeral home to help during the loss of a loved one.

This funeral home just handled my mother’s cremation and personally delivered her ashes to the mausoleum. They delivered exactly as promised, were compassionate through the whole process, and I can’t speak highly enough about them. They made a hard time much easier as I had one less thing to worry about knowing they took care of my mom’s last wishes exactly as she, and I, had wanted. I would give them 6 stars if I could. I highly recommend using Schrader-Howell Funeral home. My family and relatives have been using them for well over 80 years. We have nothing but great things to say about them. They treat you like family and are very comforting. Jeff Bell has been helping us there for many years. He is down to earth and a normal person. Very nice people, very polite and helpful with every part of the funeral. Very easy to communicate the wishes of my father whom had passed.

I recently had my mom’s funeral service and it included a Hindu prayer ceremony, the staff was so accommodating, gentle and caring. There is a little small flame as part of the ceremony which is larger than a candle flame and other facilities were being difficult about it. This funeral home didn’t even once question it. I worked with Mike and he was very courteous and gracious. I tried to pay twice and he kept saying we had time for that, and I should focus on the items at hand. We had 2 days to organize the event over a holiday weekend and they delivered. I’m thankful to them for a wonderful experience during our loss. 🙏
