In the 11th hour of purchasing a vehicle from Carmax, I backed out of the deal due to their unprofessionalism and dismissive approach to customer service. I went across the street to Tate in the hopes of finding a car that met my needs. I thought it was unrealistic to get what I needed so quickly, but Frank helped me to feel at home on the lot (old school dealer with grandfather energy). Clay was incredibly personable and attuned to me as a person and a buyer. Josh was very efficient in tying up a deal in 48 hours. This team treats community members like people - no heirs, no ego. I’ve purchased more then 10 cars in my lifetime and I have never had a better car buying experience then the one I had today at Tate used cars in Fredrick. I drove over an hour to look at the truck I purchased and it was worth every minute. The staff at Tate is top notch, friendly and professional. There is no “car salesman” vibe going on here at all. The salesman Ben Crossen was upfront, honest and followed through with every single promise he made to me to make my truck buying experience perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the finance experience as well, yes you read that correctly. I actually enjoyed the financing portion of my car buying experience. Store manager Paul Mahoneg was fantastic, he gave me a great deal on my truck and worked the banks to get the best interest rate for me. Paul is a straight shooter and will not waste your time with the typical finance spiel. Hands down the best car buying experience i've ever had! We had the pleasure of working with Mr. Shockley. He was very professional and down-to-earth And not pushy at all. I had been car shopping for about 2 weeks. And it seemed like every other dealership I went to, they were extremely pushy. Which made me want to run away as fast as I could. Not Mr Shockley! He was so patient and so kind. I ended up falling in love with a 2017 Toyota highlander in their lot. Even when we couldn't come in the day we had planned on coming in. He even came in on his day off, to help us finalize the deal. He truly made it a hassle-free experience. What can I say but WOW!!! I've been looking for a truck at a good deal (hard I know) but found what I wanted at a great price! I live an hour away and Brandon stayed late for me and had the truck ready for a test drive and I drove it home that night! All the paperwork was done just in case! Excellent experience helping my son finance his first car. Jason was kind from the moment he walked outside to greet us, treated us like his friends throughout the entire process. When he turned us over to Paul for financing, it was another welcoming experience, all honesty and even learned some things about car buying I didn’t know before. I’m surprised I never shopped here before but I’m glad we did. Very real people just doing their jobs while caring about their customers.
