Visited the museum twice this week. The exhibits are great. Had some good conversations with Tracey and Dr. Hill, learned a lot of interesting history! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the gift shop has plenty of books to read and learn more. All in all, this is an incredible museum and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Very educational museum. Plan on spending two hours if you want to read everything. Interesting to learn about the history of hospital systems, ambulances, education of doctors, and nursing. Public parking lot in the rear by the library.

Lots of interesting exhibits here at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in historic Frederick, MD. Most Civil War museums focus on the battles or weapons or famous generals for instance but the main focus here is obviously 19th century battlefield healthcare and medicine which is a unique aspect of Civil War history. The building is easily accessible and features elevators and stairs to get you to the different levels. There is a gift shop with sweet merch. Definitely check this one out!

You should absolutely make this museum a priority whether you are visiting Frederick, Gettysburg, Baltimore, or Antietam. It is completely worth your time to book
A docent-led tour. We must have asked Tracey 100 questions over 2 hours and she had answers for almost all of them. This was a top highlight of our trip and we can’t stop talking about everything we learned.

This was an unexpected gem! Very fun, inexpensive, well made and lots of exhibits. You really need about 2 hours! We came an hour before closing and missed out on about a 1/3 of it.

Wonderful museum in Frederick. If you are a medical professional, you'll thoroughly enjoy the historical knowledge shared here. Plan to spend a couple of hours there to see everything.

So much history in such a small place. Only took an hour and an half to see everything. Personally I would have stayed longer to read more, but my husband who isnt big on museum was ready to go after an hour. Handicap accessible, public parking garage right behind it. Also very close walking distance to the park and shops in the area.

I can't believe I've lived in Northern Virginia for 3.5 years and had not been to Frederick, Maryland yet....this place is awesome. My husband and I love all the Revolutionary and Civil War history in this area. The National Museum of Civil War Medicine did not disappoint, considering this museum was started from a private collection, I was really impressed with the size and detail of the exhibits. I also really liked the soldiers' perspective provided through letters....one soldier whose letters were on display was from my homestate of Maine; so that made an immediate connection for me. The staff are super friendly and one was dressed for the period and really knowledgeable on modern medicine's derivations from the Civil War....such as the advent of hospital campuses. Definitely check this place out the next time you are in Frederick. Oh, and look for a Groupon to save a few bucks. Then go across the street to the Tenth Ward Distillery to try some delicious cocktails. :-)

I had to visit a historical location for a history project. I'm a nurse so this location was perfect. I learned so much and the fun layout and design of the area is amazing. There is so much to see and read. They made learning about medicine in the civil war exciting. They also give you a nice little guide to help get you through each section. I recommend for all ages!!

If you are into history, civil war history, or medical history then make a stop here. This museum exceeded my expectations and being a civil war nerd and a person that works in surgery and teaches surgery I have high expectations when it comes to both. I had a blast going through this museum.

Absolutely fascinating. Totally worth the $10 ea I paid for my wife and I with a Groupon discount. We were there on Veterans Day so they had some special speakers there. We learned so much. Totally worth it. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours there.

Such a cool museum. It's not the largest but every area was so we'll laid out and had a ton of great information. There were some interactive things for kids but probably not the best places for little little kids. There was no else there when I was there so kids could've ran around quite a bit with out disturbing anyone. Speaking of disturbing, you well see some gruesome things. It is about war and people legs and arms being taken off. I happen to like that stuff. I was driving across country and stopped at all sorts of places and this was a great place.

We went with our group of clients from FC scott Key Center. The tour guide did such a wonderful job explaining things we had never known if we had just walked through ourselves. Thank you to the gentleman who took time (he went to gettysburg college). we spoke about my daughter and archeology degrees, etc. Thanks again for all the detailed info. Perfect job.

So very nice exhibits and it's nice to have staffs to provide activity for kids even students too. What's activity. It's worksheets that help students to look for answer in first and second floor. There's nice information on the television! So nice! There's also gift shop and guide book from staffs who will give you! If you are student or teacher, i recommend you to visit this museum! This museum also accepts the discount if you are student.

If you enjoy medical or nursing military history, this museum is quite a find. Often I find the medical portion tucked in another larger museum so it was wonderful to have an entire museum to dive into.

It's not big (but it is bigger than it looks) but what is there is something too many small museums fail to accomplish: the story of their topic. It leads with little narratives, individuals and their places in the larger story and because of that, it's a thoroughly excellent little stop.

I visited with an old friend who was here in Frederick to visit, and my daughter and my friend went along. We all love history, and this place was amazing. We learned a lot that we'd never known before. All of the exhibits are set up so that you don't need a guide to really enjoy them. We spent about 2 to 3 hours, and it was a nice, slow paced trek into our country's past. We will go again.

The museum reflects how tough the civil war was and how brave doctors and nurses did everything they can to heal the sufferings of soldiers
