Viniferous

We visited this delightful little shop over the weekend and were sp impressed with the selection. Very nice, unique wines at a great price point. Extremely impressed with the witty and knowledgeable service we received from the gentleman working Sunday night Oct 15.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary today and wanted to spend the day by “shopping local”, we stopped in to viniferous as I haven’t been inside for many years. I believe Luke(?) helped us today (I’m terrible with remembering names) but I asked for a sweet white wine. He found a bottle that was sparkling and tasted like lemon meringue pie, he said it was one of his dads favorites!
He wished us a happy anniversary and even made sure to open the door for us while we were leaving and congratulated us again.
My boyfriend isn’t a big wine drinker but would return and buy wine just because of the amazing customer service we had. Even though our interaction with Luke was quick, he was obviously VERY knowledgable and was so nice! I did try out the wine and it may be my new favorite!
This is one shop to not miss if you’re in downtown, the prices were great and the service was top notch. Even though it was such a small interaction it had made such a huge impact on the rest of our evening. Thank you so much Luke for your kind words and for finding me the perfect bottle of wine for our evening!

We stopped in the shop while in town for a wedding to get some Champagne. Luke helped us, he was so nice and super knowledgeable! The pricing was great for the quality of wine we bought.

We attended a special “Winebow” wine tasting event yesterday evening and could not recommend the shop more. Luke and Christine put on a fantastic event, with live jazz and ensured everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and learned while we imbibed. We always stop in the shop when in the Frederick area and walk away with a great find!

Love this place! It's a warm and welcoming shop with a well-curated selection of great wines that you don't find anywhere else in town. Luke is top notch and helps me discover something new that I love every time we're there. Can't wait to come back and try more.

This store truly changed my life in that I've learned a good deal about wine from shopping there over the years. Bob, the owner, is a true original. There's a wide range of prices: <$10 to several hundred. Bob is very knowledgeable, but what distinguishes Bob, from a customer's perspective, is that he has tried every wine he sells. So it doesn't go on the shelf without Bob having tried it, and finding value in the wine.

The owner of this shop is amazingly helpful and nice. I am from out of town and read up on where to find a decent bottle of wine and ran across reviews for this shop. The owner spent a ton of his time with me giving me suggestions and in the end was suggesting bottles of wine that were 1/3 of what I told him I was willing to spend. You can't beat that kind of honesty. He will be getting all future business from me over the next few months.

Love this place. Love Bob! It's not often you find a distinctive, yet directed opinion that manifests itself in a varied and exciting wine collection. Don't miss out and skip over the BIG bottles hiding in the back room!

I had a great experience at Viniferous. Bob is very friendly and honest about his wines. He's got a great selection across the board and definitely some rarities. Don't be afraid to ask him what your palette is and he won't steer you wrong.

A walk through Bob's shop is a must for locals and visitors, he has many gems and quite a few aspirational wines, but the key is to ask him for suggestions! We have been trusting him for 2 years now and you should too. He knows his wine and he makes you feel like family.

Great store with an unusually diverse selection. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff helped us pick several natural wines—one of which now ranks high on the list of favorites!

My husband and I live downtown. Our date night always includes a bottle of wine that Bob suggests. We pick up something from Caciques, and on the way stop in and tell Bob what we ordered and he sets us up with the perfect pairing. I also love to come by for something when we're cooking something special for dinner, Bob always suggests the right bottle within my budget. He's super knowledgeable, and he's obviously passionate about wines.

Viniferous is, hands down, the best wine store I have ever shopped in. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, loves his craft and is really helpful. My wife love's Ace Pear Cider and he went out of his way to special order it for us. I strongly encourage you to check out the shop and come back again and again.

I wish I could give more than 3 stars for service! My husband and I have been to Viniferous several times, each time greeted by name and given excellent recommendations to pair with our dinner for the evening. It is family owned, and they are always there, prices are competitive and we have enjoyed each of the wines we have tried so far. We won't buy wine anywhere else!

Great wine selections and helpful owner.

We've been buying wine at least weekly from Viniferous since it opened in 2010. Aside from having the best selection of wine and beer in the Frederick area (perhaps the DC area?), Bob and Luke are there to help you find exactly what you're looking for. We simply say what we're eating for dinner, whether we'll be drinking with or without food, how much we want to spend, and what we expect of the taste (of course by now they know our tastes well) and we walk away with a bottle that blows us away every time. Try doing that at a liquor store or big box wine shop... Downtown Frederick is lucky to have Viniferous.

Every time I come here, I find a great bottle of something special that I did not know of but enjoy. Bob is so knowledgeable. Luke is really friendly and fun. They make the perfect team for all kinds of people looking to enjoy life.

We’ve been buying our wines exclusively from Viniferous for over 5 years for many reasons, here is the short list:

#1 They have an excellent wine selection with prices from $10 .. >$100, you don’t need to spend a lot to get a great wine!

#2 The owner (and his son who fills in from time to time) know their wine and are very enjoyable to talk to. They will make recommendations based on your input and they won’t try to upsell you out of your price range.

#3 They’ve tasted every wine that they sell, you’ll never get that at a beer and wine store.

#4 It’s a good location for downtown Frederick, you can usually find street parking up around 4th or 5th ave… Except the 1st weekend of the month when Frederick is very busy.

#5 It’s a local business and worth supporting

#6 They also sell excellent coffee at a great price, it’s all we buy 

Walked in and instantly offered to let me try something and were so gracious. The owner of the hummus place was there as well and they chatted with me and offered recommendations. Honestly, so happy I stopped in, thank you!

Great selection of wines you won't find elsewhere. Reasonable prices. Also has a good selection of craft beers, especially Belgian. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Family owned and run.
