El Rio Mexican Restaurant

El Rio came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Both the service and food were excellent. My wife loved steak and salad and so did I enjoy my fajitas

The server was very attentive and prompt. Chips and salsa were good. IF the salsa is too mild, ask for the spicier salsa! Carne asada street tacos were delicious.

The service and the food are always great when my family, friends and I go to El Rio. My go to favorite is the Jalapeño Chicken Enchiladas. They are packed full of shredded chicken, and the sauce is delicious. With leftovers, I usually get dinner and two lunches out of one plate. Other items I have had are also great, but this dish is my favorite!

Believe it or not this place has an AMAZING CHICKEN FRIED STEAK! It is huge. Very flavorful. My only comment is that I prefer mashed potatoes with mine, not fries. But seriously, hands down one of the best I've ever eaten.

My husband has a compromised immune system and we asked to be seated away from people. They were so accommodating and very kind.

Because of the great reviews, we ate there today. I am crazy for puffy tacos. They were the best I've had. The shredded chicken was very flavorful. Puffy tacos were not greasy and loaded with fresh toppings. Hubby had the Carne Guisada plate. Extremely tender & flavorful. Also, try the extra spicy salsa. We live in Kerrville and will definitely drive the 40 miles to eat there again. Service was friendly and prompt. A must try for anyone looking for really good, fresh homemade Mexican food.

Was impressed with the service in this restaurant! The food was good overall. I had the enchiladas and puffy taco, both of which were delicious.

First off, I would like to say this is one of the best hidden gems in Boerne.Their food is beyond spot on every time! ☺
Today we had a server by the name of Jaci she went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect for us and everybody else in the restaurant she was the only server, and I have to say that she has the most wonderful personality along with customer service skills I’ve ever seen!! She’s wonderful with customers, old and young and especially with children also an amazing multitasker.
She’s definitely a wonderful attribute to the restaurant! Once again, thank you so much Jaci for the wonderful service you totally made our day! ❤💯

This is the best Mexican food in Boerne. It's in a strip center so you have to know it's there. It's an older restaurant, so it's not fancy but always clean. This restaurant is where locals go.

Not only is the mexican food great but they have chicken and sea food. They are consistent. I appreciate that. That's not always the case at another mexican restaurant in Boerne.

Their nachos are still made in a single layer and not a pile where half of them have nothing on them.

If you're looking for good food and great service, this is the place to go.

Being from San Antonio, I have very strict standards when it comes to Mexican food, which is hard to meet in Boerne. El Rio is not only absolutely delicious, but the service is over the top! Our waiter is always amazing. He learned our regular order almost immediately and he always plays with our daughter. As a parent, making our child feel welcome and not a burden or annoyance is the quickest way to get return business. And the owners are super sweet. I honestly can't remember going in there without them there. I can't recommend E Rio enough!

El Rio is outstanding our server Austin was extremely busy but still attentive to our table. We have been all over the place looking for tortilla soup and finally ... jackpot! The cheese enchiladas are like from my childhood and couldn't have been more satisfied.
I'm so thankful to have found this gem.

Very clean & nice place to gathered with family and friends.They will serve chips and salsa while waiting for your meal. Me and my husband enjoyed a delicious dinner. Ordered grilled chicken sides with Mexican brown rice and bean. Special Nachos platter for hubby which has a generous servings that made us so full. We really enjoyed and we highly recommended this place. Two thumbs up 👍👍😍😍😍

I love their food. Steak Sabana is great, crispy tacos are great but this visit I tried the shrimp fajitas. While there wasn't alot of shrimp it was very tasty. Keep up the good work guys. Also I suggest to everyone to ask for the spicy salsa. So good.

I wish I would have found El Rio sooner. The food is very good. Sage or Kimberly are the best waitresses that I've ever seen! I will most definitely be a regular from now on.
P.S. The Mexican food is fantastic, but be sure and try the chicken fried steak, too. 😜

I went here for dinner with a friend and we were treated like we were the only customers. The food was amazing and nice large portions. The waiter was quick and attentive, the margarita was delicious. Just a great overall experience

Super good food ..great great service..the greeter was very friendly and the guy that served us he had long hair in a bun was so nice n attentive..kept our tea full .n was a great guy ..I'll defialty est here again...
