Amazing beef! We ordered the extra thick version (King Henry), and it was soft and juicy!
Since it’s American servings, the portion size was HUGE! King Henry was definitely way too big for 1 person. It cost $65.85 each.

They do charge $10 for the person who is sharing. I think this charge is reasonable because it comes with 2 side dishes as well.

Our server was also very friendly and experienced.

The place was fully packed when we came on a weekday dinner. It seems to be popular among families as well.

Overall, we love our experience here. Highly recommend this place.

House of Prime Rib in San Francisco is so famous. We have to make a reservation for months ahead. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the service is excellent. I enjoyed my top quality prime rib with the King Henry VIII Cut. I loved the salad very much too.

The restaurant doesn’t have a parking lot available. Give yourself enough time for the street parking. The area is pretty busy and parking can be harder to find.

First time trying house of prime rib and let me tell you the wait is worth it! All the meat is fresh, juicy and well seasoned! They cut it right in front of you and the sides are amazing! I got mashed potatoes and spinach! The place is big but gets filled up quickly!

Sam is absolutely amazing ! It was Valentine's night and she was so attentive, informative and kind. She made our first time experience amazing and now we can't wait to come back. The prime rib is delicious, we had the thin slices, an order of salmon and creamed corn! Loved everything, the strawberry shortcake is light and perfect with expresso. It was my birthday, so she also gave us ice cream and I loved the raspberry flavor. Thank you Sam for an amazing night !

House of Prime Rib in San Francisco offers a top-notch dining experience. The service is impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a memorable meal. The atmosphere is lively, creating a vibrant ambiance. I had the King Henry cut, cooked medium rare and seared to perfection, is a must-try. Overall, a fantastic restaurant for a special occasion or a delightful night out.

Came to San Francisco for vacation and was lucky enough to get a reservation here. The prime rib was very soft and tender. Sides were also very good. We especially liked the creamed spinach and corn. Service and atmosphere of the restaurant was also very lively and friendly. It was a great experience.

I came here with a group of 4 people and we had dinner reservations at 4:30PM, which is right when they open. When we first walked inside, we noticed everyone was standing around waiting to be seated. The hostess and the server were super organized when they checked us in. We notice that the teamwork between the staff was impeccable as the they had servers waiting on standby as the hostess tells them where to seat the customers. It was very organized!

We got seated within 10 minutes upon arrival and was given the menu to order. This was my first time here and I was so excited to try it since I’ve heard really good reviews about this spot and it was really hard to make reservations. On the menu, there are 5 choices of prime rib to get: The City Cut, House of Prime Rib Cut, the English Cut, King Henry VIII Cut, and the Children’s Prime Rib Dinner. If you don’t want too much prime rib, the City Cut is recommended since it’s a smaller portion. The House of Prime Rib Cut is thicker while the English Cut is a thinner cut. The King Henry VIII cut is the biggest cut so that one is recommended for those with a big appetite. Out of all of those options, I opted for the House of Prime Rib Cut since I like my cut a bit thicker. The cut did not disappoint! The prime rib was super tender and very juicy! Each prime rib order also comes with salad and two sides. For the two sides, I got the Creamy Spinach and Mashed Potatoes which pairs really well with the prime rib.

This spot really does live up to its name!

We come back after many years… we found the same wonderful place! The atmosphere is great, it didn’t change years after years.
We took the same traditional slice of meat and we enjoy a lot. Super far from the way we usually eat meet in Italy, it seems “stufata”, bi in fact is super tender and juicy. The selection of wine is great and also the kindness of all the staff.

A 8 month reservation wait to the best steakhouse in San Francisco and it showed! Upon waiting for our table, we tried the classic shaker cup cocktails that were good and had plenty of liquor to get the night started, king henry cut (Darker meat pic) and the house of prime rib cut (lighter meat pic) were spot on, juicy and full of flavor, nice to also have a second slice thats included but was much smaller and cant be made to go, over all, service was good, food was tasty and delicious. I would recommend this on special occasions since it's EXTREMELY hard to get a table on any day of the week.

I had a food coma eating here and I love it.
If you don't have a reservation, you need to be there before 4:30 to have a reasonable chance of getting in within an hour.
It's worth it!
And don't get the kind’s cut you get a refill if you still want some after you finish the whole plate.

House of Prime Rib - what a delicious SF experience you must try!! They have different sized cut depending on how hungry you are and want to tackle. If you finish your entire cut, feel free to ask your server if you can receive a free cut on the house - we succeeded in getting an extra one! The entree course comes with horseradish dressing (different levels of spiciness and strength), salad, Yorkshire pudding, and sides such as corn, spinach, mashed, or baked potatoes. Really great drinks here as well - including the port (for dessert). From friends, we hear it’s best recommended to get a table reservation well in advance. Apparently this restaurant is booked out on weekends and holiday weekends so be sure to snag a reservation early on if you’re visiting on a special occasion. There is also valet parking service here as well. Staff was friendly and personable. While the restaurant states they close at 10 PM, we were hesitant to get dessert, not wanting to keep everyone later but our server generously soothed our stress and explained this is an experience to remember - and indeed it was!

It was a full house even on normal weekdays.
I was on solo trip and they do not accept reservation with small parties.
I walk-in and they offered seating at bar table. It’s designated for solo eaters!
Everything was phenomenal including the wine and sides.
The bartender and waiters were very helpful and nice.
A great experience!
But just too much food to waste(they offered too many sides)🫣

Fabulous experience, generous servings. It’s packed and busy and loud in there but I thought that made it fun. Food was good, it’s all served table side which is enjoyable. The lemon drop martini wasn’t the best, but the love the concept of delivering the entire shaker.

Been here thrice, the steak has been consistently great, the sides and salad always delicious, and the service impeccable. What surprised me was that their desserts (strawberry cheesecake and tiramisu) were really good as well! Best steak house I've been to (so far)!

I haven't been back here since I was younger, but it's as good as I remember !

I booked our reservation about 10 months in advance, when I checked they were already pretty booked 5-6 months out for weekends. This worked out in our favor because when we checked in, I overheard the staff telling another family it would be around a 3.5 hour wait !

When we got there we decided to valet, as it was only $17 and honestly after driving through traffic nearby we just thought it would be easier. They give you a ticket and tell you to pay the driver when you pick up your car, so easy !

We went for my boyfriend's birthday, and our waiter was absolutely amazing ! My boyfriend doesn't like to be the center of attention, so our waiter casually brought us a scoop of birthday chocolate ice cream with a candle for us to sing to him privately at the end of our meal. It was so sweet !

Now onto the experience:

You start with some delicious warm sourdough bread and butter. Always a highlight I feel at any restaurant.

Next they toss your salad in their house dressing and serve you a huge portion of it ! The dressing was light and the salad was surprisingly not super filling.

When you order you choose what cut you want and which sides. My mom and boyfriend ordered the House of Prime Rib cut and I got the City Cut (smaller portion). The prime rib was so tender and they still bring by the serving cart to carve at your table.

My mom and I got creamed spinach with baked potatoes and my boyfriend got the creamed corn with mashed potatoes. All extremely well portioned and my boyfriend even got the bone in his cut ! The baked potatoes were huge, and we definitely couldn't finish it all.

After your meal they bag everything up for you and ask if you want dessert.

We ordered the Bread Pudding, Creme Brulee and Tiramisu, which were all really good sizes for the price.

After all is done they ask if you want a complimentary photo, which they put in a thick paper type frame as a keepsake.

Overall what you get for the price was extremely worth it for us. When you order your prime rib meal you get your cut of meat, 2 sides (creamed corn or creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes or baked potato), Yorkshire pudding, salad, and bread for the table. We also had enough leftovers for another meal the next day.

The only thing I felt that was different from the past was how crowded it felt. Of course the restaurant itself is busy, it's so popular ! I just felt the tables were closer together than I remember, and even our booth was a bit tight for me and my boyfriend who sat next to each other. The servers also seemed very rushed, assuming they had a lot of people to serve in a short amount of time. But other than that I'm so glad we went, it's definitely a fun experience for any occasion.

House of Prime Rib is always amazing. The ambiance, the staff, the food. It's always a vibe. I'm sure people know about the prime rib here, so we don't need to spend too much time on that. It was delicious. Let's talk about 2 other dishes. It seems the side favorite is the creamed spinach. But have you tried the creamed corn? Amazing is an understatement. The sweetness and creaminess are so delectable. Next is the strawberry shortcake dessert. I know it's a simple dessert, but their 4 tier dessert did it for me. The shortcake was soft and not overly sweet. The strawberries weren't sour and had the right amount of sweetness when mixed with the sauce. And the whipped cream was perfect. You gotta try this.

Everything about the experience at House of Prime Rib is deserving of five stars. Absolutely plan make reservations, potentially months in advance, as it is always at capacity. It’s for good reason, as the cuts, no matter what option, is of the highest quality. Per their website, House of Prime Rib only serves the top 2% of beef available. They take pride in their aging, carving, and roasting process, which results in the best steak I’ve had. The sides are also delicious, there is a great selection of drinks and desserts. Not to mention the service, atmosphere, and decor of the restaurant reminded me of a classic English Steakhouse. I recommend/chose the English Cut, with side of creamed spinach, baked potato, and a classic Vodka Martini. There is an option to bring your own wine for a corking fee.

I've been in and out of this place for the past 20+ years. Always mind blowing prime rib. It hasn't changed much. The backroom is a little darker and more intimate now. But the service and the food haven't changed. Why mess with perfection right? With all the other SF culinary institutions closing down, this is one of the last bastions of hope remaining open. With the long lines and the packed house witnessed last Saturday night, I think there is nothing to fear with THOPM losing its foothold in SF.

I absolutely love House of Prime Rib. I have been here many times for many occasions including my birthday, my anniversary and when family comes to visit. This time we went for my husband’s birthday and it never disappoints. The prime rib is delicious. The salad is the best. The mashed potatoes are to die for. The ambiance is old school. Good luck getting a reservation.
