First off, how we were greeted and welcomed was far more impressive than our table service was. Not that it was poor, just not as lively and as friendly. Ok… enough of that. The visit was certainly worth it. Fior d’Italia was recommended by a friend and certainly being able to claim we ate at the oldest active restaurant in the U.S. made it a must visit. We very much enjoyed our meal and visit.

This was my first time and I must say, What a find! My girlfriend and I were visiting for dinner before catching Pauly Shore at the Cobbs Club a block away. We're both on a Ketogenic diet and we found it easy to order. We both got an 11 oz. steak with asparagus. Including a small side salad with oil and vinegar from the table.

The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. The asparagus was good, but the salad was great!

I am glad I took the opportunity to treat myself and my lady to a great meal out and we didn't cheat on our diet.

Great example of old school Italian food in San Francisco. Established in 1886! Quintessential decor with long wood bar, red drapes, and fine finish carpentry throughout. Our server has worked there for 41 years!

the food alone is enough reason to make your way here. I'm talking about homemade fresh pastas, creamy rich sauces, juicy tender meats, all of it.

Every moment we spent on a Sunday afternoon at this historic restaurant was truly divine. We listened to fabulous (and well-seasoned) jazz musicians during our leisurely (3-hour) lunch. Our waiter Gil regaled us with tales about the origin of our bottle of Italian wine, as he served up a scrumptious 4-course beautifully plated meal. The atmosphere transports you to another very special place and time. A perfect way to spend an afternoon by the Bay.

Such an amazing Italian restaurant, the servers were so nice and accommodating. Honestly felt like being back home with my Italian family, gathering around the table. I had friends with me and each one found something to enjoy. The Gnocchi was cooked very well and sauced just enough to make it perfect. The smells and sounds as soon as we walked in, just felt very comforting too.

One of the most hospitable, welcoming, authentic Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The wait staff were very attentive and helpful with their recommendations. the ambiance was great, with live music. The piano player was very skilled, and I enjoyed talking music with him at the conclusion of our dinner.
The food was excellent. My tortellini were crafted brilliantly, and the lasagna was masterfully delicious. I recommend taking this culinary journey of Italian cuisine as a celebration of life, love and/or family.

We researched a good restaurant in Little Italy in hopes to find something amazing AND WE DID! Not only does it claim to be the oldest Italian restaurant in the US it’s also amazing. We went with four of us and we all enjoyed what we had. While the restaurant was a little older, it added to the historic piece of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and we can’t stop talking about how yummy the food was.

It’s nice to know you can occasionally go home again and find that something you didn’t want to change has not. From appetizers to pasta everything we sampled was an oh my. Possibly the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. Their take on a escargot in a veal stock had me a little concerned but when I took the first bite my taste buds celebrated my decision to order them. Calamari was outstanding. Service was totally on point and the old school vibe takes you back to the great days of a bygone era in San Francisco’s rich history. I rate this restaurant as a must return as soon as possible and our party of 4 agreed unanimously.

We had a great dinner at Fior d’Italia by chance, and we’re glad to have experienced this classic restaurant!

With a party of 10 looking for a place to eat on a Friday night near Fisherman’s Wharf, the Fior d’Italia was able to accommodate our group at short notice and offered a great dining experience for our entire group which included adults and teens.

The restaurant is in an historic hotel (the San Reno Hotel, which is said to be haunted!). It was a charming Victorian style building and traditionally decorated. It’s a large venue with multiple rooms and a full bar.

The Italian servers that we had gave an authentic vibe to the dining experience and were responsive and pleasant. The food was enjoyed by the entire party. We had one dish come out considerably cooler than the rest, but the server was able to get it heated up quickly to resolve the issue. I had the lasagna which was presented differently than what I’m used to, but it was still delicious. They also provided nice fresh bread before the meal.

They had a nice wine list and had good options for cocktails. The old fashioned was very good.

This is a great place to get a hearty traditional Italian meal at a classic location!

PS - we didn’t see any ghosts…unfortunately.

The place was really amazing as well as the staff but it’s kind got a bar there and a game was going on so it was a bit loud with some tipsy people. Other than that me and my significant other were very fortunate to get there before the hot peak hours where there was a huge line to be seated. We got a window seat. The staff were very friendly and attentive asking if we were okay, needed anything, and how was the food. Don’t get me started on the food you have to go there, try it, and be blown away because the flavor combinations are superb truly. Some of the most amazing Italian food I have tried thus far.

Went to get dinner with the family.
The atmosphere was really relaxing.
The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly.

Ordered a bottle of wine, The Stag Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2019 which had a full and rich taste.

The risotto alla milanese was delicious and good portion for one person.

The tiramisu was perfect for dessert and good for sharing.

The most delicious Italian food! We got the gnocchi, lasagna, and ravioli- we did not leave an ounce of food leftover Out three desserts were as equally amazing as the main dish. The staff was so friendly, make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. The live music was a great plus to the Italian feel! Our waitress, Marie, had the best recommendations and was extremely sweet with us!

Such a great experience dining here!!! We went because Atlas Obscura recommended it as the literal oldest continually running Italian restaurant in the entire United States. We had high expectations, after all, restaurants tend to have a pretty high turnover rate. We were not disappointed. Vibes were exactly what we expected, the servers were friendly and available, the menu had almost too many options to choose from, and the cherry on top was all the old Italian locals hanging out by the bar - it made you wonder for how long they had been frequenting this establishment. We got the rack of lamb and lasagna, both were absolutely incredible. For dessert we had the cannoli and the creme caramel, both also exquisite. Fresh food, realistic prices for the city, and an amazing experience that you won't forget at an historic establishment.

Came here with a vendor and oh my goodness this place is amazing. The chef lets the ingredients speak for themselves. Great selection of wine with an awesome atmosphere. I will be coming back to this spot the next time I'm in the city. The only thing I will ding them on is the service could have been more on point.

Flavorful food. Gnocchi softer than I am used to. Pumpkin ravioli exploded in my mouth 👄 this is supposedly the oldest Italian restaurant, but it was technically closed like 20 years ago, and the owners bought the branding of the oldest Italian restaurant so maybe that was a scam I didn’t really care because the food was great.
