I highly recommend Roark Gym. I was a member for three months and I had absolutely the best time. The coach is really helpful and he motivates you every second of your training. The sessions are super fun and not boring at all. There is a strong focus on strength and interval training. Every class starts with an interesting question about your personality which make you connected with other people working out with you. Sadly, I had to shift my house and I couldn't continue. But I am thinking about changing my place back again just so that I could start it again. The price is a bit on higher end but you get individual attention like no other Gym. Believe me I have tried a few of them. If they offer any discount, maybe I shift to some place nearby. 😉 Also, I suggestion to owner to have more corporate discounts for fellows like me.

I love Roark. I've been a member for about four months now, and have been incredibly happy with the improvements I've seen in my mental and physical health. The daily workouts focus on a mix of strength and conditioning, and the instruction/motivation from the coaches (mostly Rich) is a large part of what makes the commitment and cost totally worth it. I am a former college athlete. and have found the workouts at Roark to be both motivating and extremely challenging; the highest intensity workouts I have done that mimic sports training. The sense of community in unparalleled in that the environment fosters getting to know both the coaches and other members. Can't recommend Roark enough; there's a reason I'm there every morning at 6am!

I've been coming to Roark for a few months now. I am an avid exerciser who has done a lot of running, cycling, basketball, yoga, etc. in the city. I don't have trouble motivating myself to work out, but I do sometimes lack motivation to really push myself. This is one of the main reasons I love coming to Roark. Rich is a great coach and a cool guy. I enjoy getting to know the other people at class and the way Roark creates a community vibe. The workouts are challenging but doable, and I've seen a positive progression in how I feel both physically and mentally. I've never wanted to spend much money on working out, but Roark really brings the value and makes it worth it.

Richard Fly at the SoMa gym is terrific. I’ve done boot camp, and worked with a personal trainer, and he is among the best coaches I’ve known. He really is a coach: challenges but encourages, explains the workout clearly, watches us and gives individual tips that are easy to implement. His workouts are a bright spot in my day.

I love this gym and try to make it a part of my daily routine. I'm not a gym person but wanted to find a convenient, fast, community focused gym where I could get back into shape with high intensity whole body workouts. Rich does a great job encouraging the class to push further while also understanding each person's own limits. I go to school part time and the staff allowed me to come 2-3 times before commiting to a monthly contract to truly understand if I wanted to make the commitment. It was an easy decision!

I LOVE THIS GYM! The workouts are tough but Rich always makes it a point to work with each and every person in class, knowing we aren't all on the same fitness level. I've been going to the Soma location for a couple months now and it's just always so much fun - we laugh, we joke and we work hard! And it's never monotonous like so many other boot camps I've been to. It's absolutely my favorite way to end the day.

I'm about 3.5 months into starting at Roark and loving it. The instructions level, attention to form detail, and workout tailoring when you need it (if you have an injury or are having trouble with something) are all excellent. My fitness has level has increased dramatically and my body, mind and energy level are all feeling great. I can't recommend this place highly enough. If you're worried about getting hurt at crossfit but want something less ridiculous than a lot of the bootcamps, Roark is for you.

Love this gym and I'm very picky about my workouts.

I work out probably 6x a week that comprise of weights and cardio but I'm also so busy at work (arent we all?) that I need to be incredibly efficient with my work outs.

My workouts used to comprise of my own gym visits and 2-3x a week Barry's Soma with Gabby and Tommy. I love Barry's in terms of the intensity and the amount of calories you burn in that time frame but I did not feel that Barry's allowed me to build strength and size (as a guy)

Roark is a completely different kind of work out. It is NOT crossfit (I did this in the past and got injured) but it isnt Barry's either. It is a nice middle ground.

It is a very friendly work out for both male and female and adjustable for the type of body you're looking to achieve.

The work outs are simple but impactful enough for all experiences (beginners to advance)

Rich is very informative and describes all the movements in great detail.

The class sizes are manageable and you do not feel crowded or lost.

Cardio here is intense and compact - very efficient and I am exhausted afterwards.

One con though is as a life long runner, I miss the running aspect so I use my weekends to go for long runs to keep in running shape. We have been adding runs into our work outs though!

The community is great - made many friends in the class - Some love the work out so much they travel from AFAR to come !!!

Happy to answer any questions if you're debating - stop in and try out a class, we are all welcoming (not intimidating at all like some crossfit gyms

I've been visiting this gym for a few months now and I cant say enough good things about it. The coaches are phenomenal and the routines are intense. The workout structure is a carefully put together mix of weight lifting and high intensity movements that lead to rapid improvements in strength and physique.
