Sooo delicious & very cute inside! Cashier was friendly. Grabbed a strawberry galette, a pizza roll, and a cinnamon roll to take to the Painted Ladies. My boyfriend (a non-vegan) enjoyed the treats very much too! I will definitely be coming back.

Great local woman-owned bakery serving a variety of baked goods, including vegan and dairy-free options, as well as beverages and sandwiches. Nice interior ambience, with a good amount of seating, considering its small size. I love the exterior facade of the building, with its cool painted design!
Service was a bit slow the few times I've been there.

Was visiting from Vancouver, BC. Found the bakery through online searches. Did not disappoint. The spot itself was adorable, welcoming and bustling when I arrived. The area smelled intoxicating with their baking. I had tea and a few treats, couldn’t believe they were GF and vegan. If you are wanting this type of baking it’s a must try!

Update 2023: Once again, Wholesome Bakery made a beautiful and delicious cake for my daughter’s birthday! This is the 4th year I’ve used them for her birthday treats. I was able to easily order and schedule delivery with door dash. Cake was delivered on time and was beautiful. My daughter said it was delicious! Thank you Wholesome Bakery for always exceeding my expectations.

2022: My daughter attends college in SF. This is the 3rd year I have ordered her birthday treats delivered from Wholesome Bakery. I just received a picture of the Chocolate Strawberry cake that was delivered and it’s absolutely beautiful! The cakes and cupcakes are always super fresh and delicious. I love supporting this local and woman-owned business. I look forward to visiting the bakery one day when I visit!

Great spot for gluten free pastries! The bakery is cute and has plenty of seating. I love the aesthetics and decor. Great spot to grab breakfast or to catch up with friends. The Provence galette is a must try and def one of my favorite items from the variety of baked goods. I also liked the blueberry scone and pumpkin chocolate loaf. They have some breakfast items that I didn't get a chance to try but will be back to taste it! It’s also conveniently located next to stores and restaurants so great to explore the area too

Awesome! Really happy to find plant-based, gluten-free, refined sugar-free bakery in SF! Honestly there aren’t that many choices for plant-based goodies in San Francisco compared to some other big cities.

Although some of the items can be kind of dry (a common side effect of adhering to so many dietary restrictions) but there are still a lot of delicious treats!

I really love their pizza roll, pesto mozzarella roll, strawberry galette, basque cheezecake, and fraiser chzcake! Both cheezecakes are quite moist and delicious! The pizza roll and mozzarella rolls hit my savory spot while the strawberry galette satisfied my sweet tooth! Also really enjoyed the jalapeño bagel with avocado with my matcha latte :)

We were taking our breakfast every morning in this lovely coffee/bakery during our visit in the city. It is perfect for gluten intolerant people but it’s also really subtlety tasty. The brunch is also absolutely perfect. The coffee is excellent. And they accept puppies

Started following Wholesome Bakery on Instagram and had to try their goods. I picked up the fudge brownie and almond tea cake from Erewon market and let me tell you… I loved the texture and flavors and the sweetness was just perfect. Vegan, gluten free and tasting so amazing is not easy to find. Will definitely be purchasing these delicious treats regularly. The only thing I wish is for them to have more options at Erewon market.

Cupcakes were okay, everything else was FANTASTIC. We were so impressed, we left San Fran with 16 tasty treats. The best things are the breakfast breads and the cream filled cookies. I love that they use almond and oatmeal flour instead of rice flour. Healthy and delicious!

The food Is so good. I never eat such a good gluten free food. I have tried the pesto roll and It Is the best thing that I ever eat, a brownie (also so good), the coconut lemon bites and the everything bagel with goatless cream cheese tomatoes and argula and It was Amazing.
Next time I want to try the pizza roll or the cinnamon roll.
So took whatever you want because everything Just slay!!!

I love Wholesome Bakery! My favorite is their almond tea cake but the fudge brownie and seven layer bars are great as well. Vegan, gluten-free and delicious!

Great place for vegan and gluten free pastries. Lot of variety of coffee cakes and tarts. No WiFi, so you'll have to enjoy your coffee and pastry with some human conversation.

I just received this amazing care package in the mail! It was quite a variety of different flavors of cookie sandwiches and a pumpkin chocolate loaf. When you have been vegan and GF for years, you know that usually the only option will be a simple chocolate chip cookie or torte. However, there were so many new things to try in the box! All of them have been absolutely delicious so far.

Not only does this bakery offer great sweet treats with good, clean ingredients, they have a very inclusive shipping and delivery policy. I live in a small town in Colorado where there aren’t any vegan and GF options. My in-laws, in India, were able to find this incredible bakery and order this for my birthday so I was able to have a wonderful treat that won’t make me feel crummy. I am so blown away by this whole experience and thankful for my wonderful family and this wonderful bakery.

One of the best avocado toast I ever had. Bread was yummy. When ordering, they never default to “to-go” which I love and in case you do take to go - all the cutlery is compostable. I love to see places that are truly compromised with the environtment.

i’m a fan of wholesome bakery’s delicious gluten-free cookie sandwiches so thought of them when i wanted to order a chocolate strawberry cake for my birthday in november. i completed the ordering process entirely online (convenient! seamless!), specifying that i wanted pink frosting, berries, and flowers. i was dazzled by their floral choices and presentation! the cake itself was flavorful but not overly sweet, which is my preference for desserts. i also tried their matcha latte when i went to pick the cake up, it had a delicious, full-bodied flavor without relying on sugar to make it palatable. i would be happy to order from them again, i’m also proud to support a woman-owned, woman-operated business!

I recently visited this plant-based bakery, and the cinnamon rolls and oat milk cappuccino were delicious. The bakery itself is beautifully designed, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The cinnamon rolls were soft and fluffy, with the perfect amount of sweetness and cinnamon flavor. They were also made with high-quality, plant-based ingredients, which I appreciated. The oat milk cappuccino was equally impressive, with a rich and creamy texture that complemented the cinnamon rolls perfectly.

Always the place I go for my thanksgiving gluten free pies! Everyone is super nice and their coffee is amazing! Thank you for always being so hospitable!

Vegan sandwich cookies that work! (5/5 green stars)
I picked up three bags of Wholesome Bakery sandwich cookies at Berkeley Bowl to share at work. They were a little pricey (about $8 per bag) but considering that they are high-end cookies, locally made from sustainable ingredients, I figured it was worth a try. After all, walk into Starbucks and a single mediocre cookie will cost you about $3. These cookies are so much better, and they are also vegan. I’m pretty sure that everyone at work liked them (10 people, three flavors of cookie) so that seems to be a good endorsement. I’m not sure which was my favorite (maybe the caramel) so it looks like I’m going to have to try them all again!

I’m also giving them 5/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons:
• All organic ingredients.
• Completely vegan – no eggs or dairy.
• Packaging is fairly minimal, a paper bag with what appears to be a cellophane lining (which is compostable or recyclable, since cellophane is cellulose-based and similar to paper).
• They work with suppliers that have high standards as far as social and environmental impact goes. For example, Giusto’s grain, Wholesome Sweeteners, and Santa Cruz Organic.
• I normally avoid palm oil, but theirs is certified by Palm Done Right, a new certification for palm oil that’s organically grown by small farmers in Ecuador and West Africa, who receive fair trade pricing and community support.
• I’ve done a lot of research into palm oil (about to publish a post on the topic on the Green Stars Project) and really, Palm Done Right is the only certification that seems to actually work (RSPO is not working out).
• A woman-owned, local business that is a force for good.

My week is never complete without a couple trips to Wholesome Bakery. Their use of plant-based, gluten free ingredients to make sweet AND savory baked goods is unmatched. So many delicious options. And they stock an assortment of tasty gluten free beers from Otherwise Brewing. The staff is so friendly and the space is bright and cozy. As a celiac, I feel safe here. If you are what you eat, I am probably 50% recycled WB pesto mozzarella roll.
