Hahdough

Superb German pastries, pretzels and cakes. The owner lived in Germany 🇩🇪 for years- they make the perfect Bavarian custard donut here. A+ Bee Sting cake too; and the apple pie was to die for. Excellent service. Love this place!!!

Hahdough has pastries that are absolutely delicious. The hardest decision I had to make in 2 years happened when I walked into Hahdough. To choose just 1 desert is torture. It is my belief that SF. needs more German bakeries. I love everything about German deserts which are reflected at Hahdough. The customer service person was so nice and very pleasant. The choices of cakes, the Berliner, and the coffee all were superb. Since my family lives in NE. Germany-Rethwisch Börgerende, I can say with certainty, Hahdough reflects German pastries. Thank you Hahdough.

Ordered a few desserts here after trying a few at their other small location. Their cakes are beautifully made and delicious, easily superior to most restaurant desserts, will be back for more!

Grabbed a slice of their triple chocolate mousse cake and WOW, best cake I may have ever had, regretting not buying two slices. Just going to have to go tomorrow.

Delightful little spot with very tasty treats and friendly staff.
Seen some complaints in reviews by folks about price. Coffee is cheaper than Schocks next door. The cost of their croissant with ham compared to those mass produced around the corner at Peet’s is the same and the pretzels can’t be compared price wise to other spots that sell rubbery frozen ones.

Love Hahdough. I usually go to their other location in Hayes Valley but I was in this hood today. For the uninitiated, always get a slice of beesting cake, a pretzel croissant, a berliner donut, and the schillerlocke which is sort of a cream horn. I’ve tried a few different cakes but I always find myself coming back to that tasty beesting cake! Oh and their pretzel is fantastic. Really what I’m saying here is you can’t go wrong, this is easily one of the best bakeries in the city and it doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

Delicious German style bakery. It has the very special pretzel croissant, or should I call it pretzssant or croitzel?

Now that Mr Holmes Bakery is closed due to the pandemic, it's hard to get good cruffin (i.e. croissant muffin) in the city. So Hahdough become our go to place to get some local SF hybrids bakes (i.e. Croitzel) to show off to my New Yorker friends Cronut (i.e. croissant donut) from Dominique Ansel Bakery.

Love their:
- Lübecker MarzipanTorte (nutty hazelnut cream inside w marzipan layer, like a Princess cake but so much better!);
- Beesting cake (yum!);
- Berlinger with Vanilla filling, or Nutella filling; best “donut” ever!

Next time definitely want to try their:
- Eggnog cake
- Herrentorte (has brandy/whisky inside!)

Great new spot for coffee and German dessert! I tried the pretzels with honey-mustard. Very nice!!! Only 2 small tables, but there is a tiny bench out front. I'm going again soon!

Amazing cakes and pastries! Their cakes are awesome, very precisely decorated and just the right sweetness. Some of their cakes have alcohol and are quite “boosy” as some might say. The beignets are a must!

Hahdough is the best. Their pretzels bring me right back to Germany- they are PERFECTION. Their cakes are exquisitely made and delicious. You literally cannot go wrong with anything there.

Excellent cake, that's the perfect level of sweetness (not too much). Just be sure to order a few days ahead of time online!

Coming from Germany this was the most authentic and delicious bakery we have found so far! Cakes are amazing and the pretzels so delicious! We loved it!

I've heard great things about Hahdough. The raspberry, chocolate cake did not disappoint. If anything, my expectations were exceeded. I can't wait to try the pretzels and their other baked goods.

We got a recommendation from a friend and stopped in today, snagging ourselves a little cherry pie.

There was some fear for a few moments as it appeared that they were out and only had apple pies left. Quelle horreur! Ah, but the cheerful guy tending this little bakery pulled a few cherry ones from the back and the world thankfully slipped back into equilibrium again.

He gave, we paid, he asked if we wanted forks, I scoffed, telling him that we planned to eat it like wild beasts, which we happily did on the bench in front.

Delicious! Ordered and inhaled the cinnamon sugar croissant & apple turnover. Not too sweet or dense; flakiness is in the crispier side which I like.

As a German living in San Francisco I can say they make the best And most authentic German-style pretzels and Laugenstangen.

FINALLY after living in the USA for 35 years, I found someone who makes my childhood favorite right. Black Forest cake with dark chocolate, lightly sweetened vanilla whipped cream, SOUR cherries, and andddd Kirsh (cherry brandy) soaked chocolate cake. I mean woozer. Ticks all the boxes for me. The raspberry cake + pretzels are equally as yummy.

Absolutely amazing and authentic German cakes and pastries! I was visiting and I went there every day for 4 days. The pretzels taste just like the ones from Germany. The bee-sting cake is to die for!! I also tried the black Forrest cake and the orange cake and the raspberry cake. All were delicious! Highly recommend.

Great new bakery on fell! Have picked up a delicious croissant/pretzel hybrid, and a really nice strawberry tart.

We got in right before they ran out of inventory for the day (around 2pm on a Sunday) and everything we got was delicious. The danish was so flaky and sweet with lovely fruit on top; the pretzel had this beautiful salty skin that was exactly like the pretzels we've had at German Christmas Markets; the croissant had a delicous cinnamon flavor but not too sweet; and the cherry pie was divine. Next time we'll get there early and see what else we can try.
