The display is filled with a plethora of colorful, handmade and delicious looking desserts. It was hard to choose just one but I picked a mini chocolate mousse cake. This turned out to be one of the best desserts that I've ever had! The mix of solid chocolate, mousse and cake is...to die for. Can't wait to try more!

One of the best bakeries around. I love a good strawberry shortcake, but theirs is amazing and so beautifully decorated. Not to mention, the cakes are loaded with strawberries. No need to tell them to add extra. I live in Novato, but will travel to San Francisco for these cakes. It's definitely worth the gas and bridge toll.

Great Swedish princess cake - everyone loved it - cake was light and gorgeously decorated . This cake tastes like a cake in Germany, from a proper konditeroi . It is not your average bakery. Outstanding ! European quality!

Scrumptious cakes! I ordered three 1/3 sheet cakes for my daughter’s 40th birthday celebration. Strawberry shortcake, Mango mousse, and Chocolate truffle torte. Just gorgeous and with perfect inscriptions. Everyone raved about them! I needed to order cakes for her surprise party and they had a 48 hour processing time, which was just the right amount of time! They gave my husband a box of cookies too! Thank you for making my daughter’s birthday spectacular!

my childhood. schubert’s has never gone down in quality and they have such a large range or variety. there is nothing bad to say about them, i love y’all.

for people who love fruit based tarts, mousses, or cheesecake, to classic chocolate based stuff, i grew up eating schubert’s and what a privilege that is.

i always love their cheesecake and mousses, i’m a sucker for their strawberry cheesecakes or mousses and my companion love their fruit tarts.

i definitely want to try their non cake related stuff like their cookies, pastries, etc on the right side. i felt like i never really considered that when i go to schubert’s.

Amazing taste and great costumer service . Unique store in the place , 15 $ for a strudel kind of cake , reasonable prices in all their items . Hand made crafted cakes

I cannot say enough good things about Schubert's bakery.. they have my most favorite desserts in the world here and the people are super nice. This is one of my happy places!! 😊😊😊

Oh my goodness! One of the worlds best bakeries. The cakes are frankly delicious! I got the princess cake and everyone was raving about it :)! The other cake I got was the mango mousse, it was light fluffy and a bite into cloud.

By far my favorite bakery in the western US. I absolutely LOVE the strawberry layer cake. When I lived in Sausalito it was out monthly treat, I miss it dearly. If you're in town stop by for a sweet treat, you won't be sorry!

Swedish Princess - 5/5 - One of the best renditions in the bay area. The cake is super tasty and the cake is nice and tender. If you like sponge and marzipan...this is your cake.

Chocolate Mousse Ganache - 5/5 - A very thick, rich, and heavy cake. You won't be able to eat this in one sitting. If you are a fan of chocolate...this will be a good option for you.

Service: 4/5 - Friendly service.

Ambiance: 4/5 - A grab and go place.

Quick random stop made after visiting Good Luck Dim Sum about 2 streets down. They have such beautiful desserts and many choices. We ordered quite a few items. As you can see from the picture below not everything made it into the picture, or complete. That was for the 1st visit in June. Following, just updated pics of our 2nd visit in December. It is a staple for us now. Love this place.

Chocolate truffle, mocha torte, black forest and strawberry romanoff. Highly recommend chocolate truffle.

Generations of San Franciscans have enjoyed Schubert’s cakes, cookies and pastries! This is Austrian style pastry (and boy, this chef knows beautiful cake making!).

The Swedish Princess Cake has been served to countless family’s princesses, queens and kings!

They offer delicious butter cookies which are sold by bag or gift box (my guilty pleasure). Marzipan with jam mini thumb sized treats in the shop for the holidays.

I stopped by for some cake slices for the Thanksgiving Day meal.
I got delicious Italian Rum Cake.

The nice young people who are learning customer service skills (the owner is awesome about helping youth get job experience) were quick!

To be honest: one of the Italian Rum Cake slices did not survive until the holiday!

Oh well, I’ll have to return super early tomorrow to Schubert’s for more cake 🎂!

Ordered a BD cake for my niece a few days ago, I can say it was the most delicious cake you could get in the city.
Not very sweet and had a fluffy texture … 🎂thank you

Glad to see that Schubert’s is still around. Their speciality is the Swedish Princess cake, which is —if I remember correctly— a layer cake with raspberry filling(?), angel cake, whipped cream, and a marzipan shell. Whatever the case it’s absolutely delicious, and was the perfect 1st birthday cake for my half-Swedish girlfriend at the time (now my wife). So thanks for the memories, Schubert’s! We’re looking forward to coming back for another Swedish Princess.

This place is so good. I want to be able to bake like them. I blame the easy bake oven. It gave me way too much confidence when I was a kid. It gave me the impression that baking was going to be a cake walk. I was so young and stupid. I didn't realize the delusion I was living in until I started baking with a real oven in my twenties. I know the easy bake oven had good intentions, it was trying to grow my confidence at a young age, but I just don't think it set me up for the reality of baking. Unfortunately, I think it's too late for me now, I'll never learn how to bake like Schubert's Bakery and even if it is possible...it's so much easier for me to continue to blame the easy bake oven, so that's exactly what I'm going to do. Anyway, it's nice to know I don't need to be an incredible baker, I can just go here.

My daughter asked me about why I like getting the Black Forest Cake every year for my birthday. When I was 17 I was an exchange student in Germany and I went to a bakery and asked for something that I could only ever get there. This cake is the first time I’ve ever had a Black Forest cake that lived up to that experience and I’ve been having it for my birthday every year and will hopefully continue to do so. This bakery makes me so happy and makes my birthday special.

Their princess cake is the best I have ever had. All their cookies, cakes, and tarts are good. This is place my family gets birthday or celebration cakes from. Included a couple pictures of cakes from different occasions. The princess cake has great fondant and the balance of the jam and cake is excellent. They are more expensive, and going into the city is not the best, but the quality is worth it imo.

Best place to get dessert in the Richmond district. Their Swedish Marzipan Princess cake, chocolate mousse and fruit tarts are the best. Also try their cookies and shortbreads. They are mouth-watering delicious. Would keep going back!

Easy online ordering and hands-down one of the most delicious cakes in the city. (Other treats are incredible as well.) Recommend calling in advance for pre-order pickup hours! Google suggests they are open until 5:30 p.m. on Fridays but when I called, they said 5 p.m. Good thing I did or else we would have had no birthday cake for a friend! Their website has both 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. listed so it’s confusing!
