F. Dorian

Like Valencia Street from 15th to 23rd streets, Hayes Street between Franklin and Laguna is an “only in San Francisco” retail gulch. The artisans represented in shops like F. Dorian and Maker and Moss next door are either local or consigned from great, known sources. If you want gorgeous, eclectic ceramics, textiles and glassware, hand-crafted with sharp, contemporary eyes and rustic one-off authenticity, then shop here. I bought my first piece from Dorian in 1987, and haven’t stopped. This grain-grinding disc, and below that, the wrought-iron dish from an old-world Japanese foundry master, are favorites I brought home from Dorian over the years.

In the holiday season this cute shop becomes a wonderful little stop for Christmas decorations!!

The owners' passion for beautiful objects is obvious in the unusual selection of items for the home and designer jewelry they offer. It is my go to place for fun cheap accessories as well as unique statement pieces. I also love the idea of supporting a small privately own store.

A great selection of varied modern jewellry and Accessoires from other countries or made by local artists at a good price. Owner knows a lot about what he is selling and the people who created it. I can highly recommend it to people looking for the special something for themselves and loved ones.

Cute gift shop with unique and quirky items. Slightly pricey but the staff was very friendly!

My toddler was drawn by the store and because we are searching for a housewarming gift, we went in, he was supervised closely by myself and my husband, he touched some Christmas baubles but did not drop, or grab anything with force. the store staff was already mean mugging us when we walked in and kept saying “it’s all glass!” And “watch out! Be careful Pleaaasee!” He probably said it five times in the minute we were in there. I understand things are fragile but it’s hard to want to spend money at a place that’s so unwelcoming to a well behaved child. Perhaps a sign should posted that no children under (whatever age the staff is comfortable with) allowed if everything is indeed so precious.
