Great selection for such a small temporary location, in both English & Spanish. Our kids always find new books to read, and the pick-up process for Holds is easy and quick. Clean & well organized, with friendly staff!

Temporary mission branch location.
Thank you so much for providing a temporary space for our community.

Free printing (for moderate number of pages per day) and unlimited free scanning -- I'm throwing my printer away instead of trying to fix it.
A library card also gets you online access to the OED. Also apparently they don't charge late fees anymore (I am not a lawyer, not an inducement to steal library books, your mileage may vary, data based on limited N count, caveat lector).
It's nice being in a quiet relaxed place run by helpful people who love books. Who am I writing this review for? Are there people who aren't familiar with libraries?
Worth mentioning: at the moment, the Mission Branch is in a temporary, much smaller space, with fewer books out, while the permanent location is refurbished.

The upstairs is quiet and has a good selection of new releases. The librarians are kind and knowledgeable and book requests are handled within a matter of days. They also have printing services and computers and WiFi!

This is a temporary small branch while main building is being remodeled. It's nice and cozy, very limited inventory understandingly but it makes out with a very friendly and helpful staff. Go check it out ✅

there is something special about the public libraries in the city of san francisco which is different from other libraries in any part of the world that i have been to. you here the sound of the wood chairs move back as someone gets up to leave or pee. people that you dont know but you're glad everyone can sit next to eachother and enjoy the books. i checked out 17 language packs for my friends. i think though that it is much easier to learn a new language by imitation to get the right sound and to say something funny. who wants to just count or 'learn' conjugation. how incredibly boring. also the accent is all wrong on those language educational materials. its silly that some people come on with some kind of snobbish attitude to 'teach'. i really like teachers. i can learn from others and i am happy to point out hey i really like some british comedy stuff and that is a fun and easy way to learn not american english. i feel bad that my friends felt like the only thing holding them back financially and in life was not having the 'standard' american english accent. the mission library is a good resource in the community. i think the mission district needs to slow down traffic speed and shut down the street to cars on the weekend. and take cues from mexico city where cars are only allowed on alternate days. im really tired of seeing the new crop trying to imitate the 80s yuppies in dissing the mission with their attitudes. i would like to see an increase in community activities and gardening and culture. i really like the mayan language. it has ancient roots and is very modern in its directness.

So excited to have our library back at a temporary space while they renovate the old space. Thank you SF Public Libraries!
