Because very few people show up here , Its cinema halls don’t have communal experience which is one of the reasons of watching a film in a theater ;

But the cinema halls are clean with the most comfortable leather seats in any theater. The prints are pristine ; the acoustics are superb.
Matinee prices are reasonable - they include the symphonic snoring of the elderly in the theater .

I doubt this cinema will be around for a long time.

I love this little theatre. They play amazing movies for great prices, with some non-new releases being only $5/person if you log in with the free account. It’s an unbeatable deal around here, and these kinds of theatres are becoming more rare these days. I saw a screening of Maestro here, and they gave out a pack of several big, beautiful prints from the movie to everyone for free on the way in. It was a full house, seats were comfy, it looked and sounded great for such a small place, and the popcorn was good. The theaters aren’t very big, so even the very front row seats were well worth it, which is all that was left that night. I hope this place sticks around <3

I love this theater! The film selections are wonderful - a mix of independent, artistic, and mainstream - and it's easy to purchase reserved seats ahead online, reasonably priced with discounts for students and seniors. The theaters are small and clean with great sight lines and sound quality, comfy seats, yummy popcorn, friendly staff and a lovely vibe - a fabulous way to see great films on the big screen. And it's next door to Max's Opera Café for lunch or dinner beforehand, or drinks and discussing the film afterwards! I hope more people begin to leave home again to watch great movies in more of a community setting, and that we can keep this treasure of a theater open - a gem in San Francisco!

Such a charming theater! Super clean and their recent remodel looks fantastic. The seats are very comfortable. Not the gigantic recliners, but nice seats that can lean back a bit. There’s a really lovely bar area where you could enjoy a snack or beverage before the movie. They always have the best foreign and independent films that you can’t find anywhere else. “Drive My Car” was a wonderful film!!

The revamped theater is just great. Comfy cozy seats with plenty of room to stretch your legs and they will be opening a wine bar soon. Great place to see original off beat movies. My favorite theater.

There are 4 small theaters (seating less than 15 ppl) that show interesting movies. Bar has a great selection, and staff is super nice.

I don't live where I can easily get to a theater that does independent film so loved finding this place on my vacation to SF and it was up the street from where I stayed (Hayes Valley Inn) - old school theater vibe but staff was friendly and nice to have a chance to easily see an independent film in a theater. Normal film price is around $15 a ticket (what I paid) but hey, part of visiting SF - will come back here next time I stay in this area of SF - nice way to spend some time in the early afternoon :-)

My favorite theater in San Francisco. It's small and intimate and feels very much like I'm in my own living room, without the "factory" feel that 20-screen multiplexes have. They also don't assault you with 30 minutes of trailers before the feature begins, they may show two or three at the most. The staff is very friendly. I always look forward to seeing films here, I highly recommend it.

Great team. They escorted an elder woman using a walker in a manner that respected her dignity.

Cool or interesting people work here and films shown are good choices or not bland

Great little indie film theatre. Actually one of the last left standing! And the staff are super nice and personable. And good popcorn.

Cute intimate cinema. We were only 4 people during weekday screening.

Beautiful renovation maintains that cozy intimacy while making it actually physically cozy. For all your independent film watching pleasure, one need no longer suffer physically in order to enrich your eyes, ears, and mind.

Fantastic place to see first-run films. The prices are great (especially if you buy a pack of discount passes), the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the newly upgraded sound system is absolutely amazing.

Small theater in unassuming location and I mean small like 50 seats. There are 4 screens they play forigen, art and documentarie, films mostly. Prices are quite reasonable $ 6-8-10 depending on day and time. It's a quite theater do not so much for kids. Was here for the first time Sunday and I'll be coming back soon. Rare hidden gem.

Since I moved here, I've come here on many occasions to see movies that I wanted to see before the vanish from the silver screen. To say that, I'd say the experience is worth it. From past SF Film Society memories to now, I've always walked away feeling full and not empty! I recommend going outside before and afterwards, and just enjoying the fountain. Aside from the occasional OCD homeless / elderly person during matinee's, this place is a steal, so go for it!

Usually not very crowded. My favorite place to watch international independent movies. The tickets prices are very cheap comparing to many places. Last time I went my ticket was for $6 for a movie that was stunning and 2 hours and 10 minutes long. I recommend this place.
