I have seen two great film here : Joyland and The Worst Person in the World ; the film prints here are pristine but acoustics are slightly muffled; It does need a facelift : the repertory portion isn’t as strong - past directors are mostly forgotten unless their death causes a splash - Goddard.

It should be a multi screen cinema instead of Big and Small as if they were a fast food chain. Let’s not compare this theater to NY’s Film Forum; that would be like comparing little grapes to the big apple.

Great little non-profit theater that shows all kinds of interesting, fun, and unique movies. Easy to get to via BART too! Worth a visit if you have the chance

I love the Roxie Theater! They show the quirkiest movies that you can't see elsewhere. And I'm told that it looks exactly the same from someone who worked there a decade ago.

There are technically two theaters with the cocktail bar Dalva in the middle. I have only chosen movies in the Little Roxie for some reason. It's a small, intimate theater that only fits maybe 40 people? It's pretty old school and old, but that's the charm of the Roxie! There are concessions for sale, and the employees are chill. I'm always down to catch a movie here!

I've been coming here since the early 90's, not much has changed.😅😂 Maybe the neighborhood, but the energy and vibe of the movies and auditorium are always one of a kind!

Cute nonprofit local theater, run by movie nerds. I do wish the armrests flipped up, but it's still a great experience in my opinion 🍿

I had so much fun here. I saw the weirdest film of my life. It had passion and meaning. I had a wonderful conversation with one of the managers about movies. The Roxie theater was the highlight of my SF trip.

One of the best theaters in San Francisco. One day I’m going to donate to get a name plate on one of the chairs. I don’t know why more theaters don’t do this. 🎞

One of the last bastions of SF's once deep film culture, and now more than ever the best movie theater in town to see something completely unexpected.

Excellent tour of the projection booth and very enjoyable members appreciation party. The movie, 26.2 To Life, was very interesting and enjoyable.

It's ALWAYS a treat to watch a movie at this fantastic gem of a San Francisco movie theatre. It is 108 years old and still going strong! I hope it never closes.

This theater is old so the seats don’t recline but the diversity of film and the delicious popcorn surely make up for it. Plus it’s located in a great spot with lots of food and drinks in walking distance.

An SF landmark and home base to local cinephiles and smaller film festivals. I love the variety of genre, indie, and foreign flicks programmed every month and the staff is great! Support your local neighborhood cinema!

This is a wonderful hole in the wall theater. It is small, old, with a vintage feel. It caters to everyone but especially to the queer community. This theater shows hard to find films, vintage films, documentaries, and artistic/creative cinema works. The seats are worn but so COMFORTABLE.

Whoever did the bail out that saved this place, thank you. It's a great neighborhood amenity. For those of you who reside remotely, it's handy to 16th Street Mission BART so you don't have to engage in gladiatorial combat just to park. View the trailers before deciding to go: not all films are for you. If a film is really good, there may be a looong line and maybe you will not get in, so why not show up early, buy your ticket(s) and grab a bite at nearby Truly Mediterranean or Sunflower. BTW, they should call it the Roxies because there are two theaters with separate entry doors. It's not like the Lady or the Tiger but pick the right one and don't mistake the dive bar situated between them (also screens movies) for Little Roxie, save that one for later. The popcorn 🍿 is excellent

Ive come here occasionally over the years. One showing I met the original drummer from the 90s band Hole as she did a speaking session after her documentary. It's the oldest continuously Opera movie house in the country if I remember correctly. They also really care about the community. Also if you have an EBT card you get to watch movies for $5!
