Explore Park

Illuminights was a wonderful experience. The light displays were brilliant and enjoyed by all with my group and the vendors chocolate and kettle corn were great. We will make this an annual event. Hope they put out more fire pits for next year.

We visited the Illuminights last night. It was a wonderful experience. Roanoke has done a great job turning the park into a winter wonderland! It's a great place to bring the kids. Several vendors were there selling coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, and many other things. The lights were beautiful! The park also offers many hiking trails that are really easy to walk. A couple of the trails go all the way down to the river. If you decide to attend the Illuminights, we will need to purchase tickets ahead of time through the Explore Park website. The tickets are $17.50 each. I hope you go, it's a fun time!

We really enjoyed Illuminights 2023! Plenty of lights in an outdoor setting while walking through a wooded area. Santa was there for pictures and there was an opportunity to purchase hot cocoa and cookies. Everyone gets to roast marshmallows as well. Remember to bundle up!

We came to experience Illuminights and we were not disappointed! You purchase tickets online with a slated time, they do not accept walk ups. This allows for the walking trail to freely flow and lessen congestion. Christmas music plays throughout the walk. Staff members are everywhere if you have any questions or issues. Several vendors were on site to offer various goodies. I have to say the “Naughty Santa” cookie was the best! The souvenir shop was open to offer local artists goods. I opted for a souvenir ornament.

We went to the Illumilights event in December. SO MANY lights that had everybody in awe. You walk through the set path (for about 20 minutes) taking as many photos as you would like. There were several vendors with food and hot chocolate. Plenty of bathrooms.

We stayed one night at the campground and were pleasantly surprised by how well kept and tidy it was! Everything was so clean and crisp looking. The bathrooms and showers were spotless, which we needed to use after a long day of hiking and biking in the area. There were few RV spots with more little cabins and yurts, so if you are looking to book an RV spot try to do it in advance. Looking forward to coming back and exploring the grounds and the river. Highly recommend!

Great night out. Have hot chocolate, kettle corn, cookies, cappuccino, shaved ice, Free marshmallows to roast over a big fire pit.... great stroll through the woods with all the lights and scenes that you can discover along the way.

Don’s Cab-inns was a true gem to find! Cleanest campground we have ever been too. Staff was friendly and very helpful, especially when I lost my phone at the brewery. 😬 Highly recommend this location. Site D5 was spacious and level. Can’t wait to visit again!

We love this place! Great things for kids and adults to do. Plus a beautiful view while zip lining!

Enjoyed the lights and the walk..we came last year and it seemed like it was longer walk through but we definitely had a great time

Illuminights never disappoints. Seems like they add something else every year that is just as beautiful as before.

I was there for the Christmas light display. It was wonderful. They kept the lines down by only scheduling a certain amount at a time. You choose your time online and then you bought your tickets for that time. Lots of parking available. Vendors there with hot chocolate, popcorn and some other goodies. The city of Vinton supplied marshmallows and long skewers to roast them over the fire. Lapis out very well. Thank you

Went to scope out what exciting "Treetop Quest" Zip line courses look like for nybgranddaughters. The whole setup is amazing and I know my granddaughters will love this !! The staff showed me around and Abbey on the front office gave me all the info I needed !! I think I'll participate with them when they come in !! It just looks like a blast !!!

We walked through "Illuminights" with our kiddos and had a nice time. There were quite a few guests, but we expected it and still had a nice time. it was nice to go into the guest shop after our outdoor walk and get to see some of the local work. I’m sure we’ll be back again next year!

Illuminights is becoming a family tradition around Christmas for us. They do a great job of mixing in new displays with the old favorites, making it worth the repeat visit each year. We love roasting marshmallows after walking the trail looking at the lights, browsing the shop, & grabbing hot chocolate and snacks from the vendors.

The most beautiful lights I have ever seen! The displays were spectacular!

Went last year twice. First time so far this year we had a blast. I love this place, the ziplines and obstacles. All the Blue Shirts 👕 are great, very helpful!!

Stunning views on the way up to the park and a fantastic beer & wine spot with fire pits that have cozy outdoor seating! Very fun vibe and history @ Three Creeks Brewpub!

I went to explore Park walking around and was very excited because I'm new to the area and I think this is a great park! The Christmas decorations were absolutely wonderful. They do a great job here. You can certainly see there's lots of areas to camp out and enjoy the riverfront. If you're somebody into biking or just want to play some disc golf everything is there! Lots of trails and there is a place to have a drink and have a bite to eat. Can't wait for the better weather to come so that I can play around and enjoy the entire park!

Wonderful experience. I went for the Treetop Quest. There were 4 and a half zipline trails as the most difficult trail has 2 endings. Please register online for this before you arrive as there is a difference in the fee.

There is also a dinosaur trail which I couldn't explore as it was closed.

In all, the staff was very friendly which augmented the experience.
