Compass PT was my first experience with PT and it was wonderful! I had SI joint issues affecting my hip and upper leg. Eric was great, he listened and was kind, and he got me through the most painful parts and back to 100%! I hope to never have to return, but if I do, I know I will be in good hands!

I was referred to Compass PT by my nearby chiropractor, Dr. Jen Schlecter. I am so grateful to have received this referral as everyone at Compass has gone above and beyond to facilitate a therapeutic experience. From the friendliness and competency of the staff to my thorough intake with Dr. Mark, I have felt supported from all angles in the two months I have been going to sessions weekly. They take the time to explain the whys and hows of their process, which as a massage therapist I very much appreciate, and always make sure to end a session with heat or cold therapy and a good taping job on my problem area. I highly recommend Compass PT for your recovery journey!

I had a total knee replacement in May,2023 and had two serious complications. The therapists at Compass PT have been superb in moving me forward and helping me achieve my goals during this recovery period. I’m on track and improving with each visit. My complements to Doctors Zoie, Annie, Rachel and Mark. I highly recommend them all. This is my third encounter with Compass in two years.

The Compass PT Staff is amazing. I have had the blessing to have been treated by each of their staff even thought I am seen most often by Annie. Every Physical Therapist on the Compass Staff brings a slightly different treatment and instruction. As a patient, one gets to benefit and learn from each one of their staff. Compass has fixed my back and nerve issues and continue to provide excellent therapy to maintain my health.

April 3rd 2023 I was crushed from a 750 pound steel motor attached to a 1000 steel crain.. my injuries hurt more than words can explain..It's been a long road with the insurance companies and I suffer more than people know.. I know one-day my injuries will require surgery for relief.. But I want to thank God for compass physical therapy but most importantly I want to thank my therapist... Ryan is very professional at his job and I want to thank him for his help and kindness working with me..But most importantly my every day therapist is Tiffany working with Tiffany gives me hope.. Tiffany's experience and talent is so amazing words can't describe how wonderful she is at her job.. She's companionate understanding and caring.. Tiffany knows and recognizes exactly what and where the injuries live and her performance triggers the spots for relief.. I'm lucky to have her working with me and ide recommend her to everyone....

I continue to be so pleased with Rachel’s expert PT for my knee replacement, then for my shoulder. Assessment and direction during each PT session was clearly on target. And her recommended homework was clearly effective. Can’t thank you enough Rachel! Keep up the great work!

I was a huge help for Rachel to work with me before my total knee replacement surgery, as she provided strengthening exercises and feedback in general. After the surgery Rachel and Mark provided outpatient PT support (starting as I was ready, about two weeks after my knee replacement). And consistently they have provided remarkable support to me over the past several weeks, answering my questions as well as guiding my rehab along the way. Based on my positive experience, I highly recommend Compass Physical Therapy with no reservations!

After a serious cycling accident I learned of Compass PT from a friend that had used them and been very pleased. Mark knew the combination of exercises and drills to take me from using a walker, to a cane, and then unassisted walking while understanding the mental as well as physical challenges that I faced during the recovery period. All of the staff was great and the therapy room clean and well organized. I felt like I was more than just a "patient" and received excellent care in a most professional manner. Highest recommendations for Compass PT!

I fractured my hip the end of October and after going to a rehabilitation center for 10 days and home therapy for another month; I was recommended to Compass Physical Therapy. My therapist was Mark and after a 15 minute evaluation he got right to work setting up a program to get me on the road to recovery. I am now, after 3 months of therapy, cane free and almost back to my former mobility. Mark and his staff are very knowledgeable and the atmosphere of Compass Therapy is relaxed , but professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a physical therapist in Asheville. Thank you Mark for all that you did to make my recovery possible!

Nothing but good experiences at Compass PT! Rachel and Mark are very knowledgeable and treat you with compassion. Elizabeth at the front desk is a joy as well. I have been going here for a few months for treatment of my TMJ and neck and have showed significant improvements by going to my appointments and doing the at home exercises. I highly recommend this practice.

I recently completed a course of PT with Mark. I saw him at the recommendation of a friend who was also a physical therapist (the best kind of recommendation). I had right knee pain from osteoarthritis and was very skeptical that PT would help. Fortunately, I was wrong. My knee is now essentially pain-free and I no longer have difficulty walking long distances. Mark is clearly very knowledgeable and dedicated. He is thorough and spends time with every patient to make sure that they are receiving the treatment they need. He also has outstanding rapport with his patients which makes going there a very pleasant experience. I enthusiastically recommend Compass Physical Therapy to anyone in need of their services.

I brought my teenage daughter to see Mark after our family doctor suggested she see a PT for chronic headaches and neck pain. She found his treatments to be really helpful, and she is still doing the exercises he suggested. When she first went to Compass PT, her headaches were daily. Now they have improved to the point she is mostly pain-free. Also, I really appreciated the flexible scheduling!

I sought physical therapy for two different problems that medical doctors called arthritis. I was very pleased with the results. Along with the treatments Mark gave me exercises to do, which I continue to do. They keep me strong and healthy. I have recommended Compass to others. The staff are warm, friendly and accommodating.

I am a former college athlete who suffers from many aches and pains, the biggest being exertional compartment syndrome that ultimately ended my playing career. I have seen Mark a few times now and every experience has been fantastic. Among being knowledgeable in his profession, he is very king, caring, and personable, always looking out for your best interest. So far, I have had dry needling done on my calves (where my compartment syndrome is) once and was able to run, pain free, for the first time since ending my career. I will most definitely be going back for more treatments and would recommend Compass Physical Therapy to anyone who asks!

In April 2018, I became gravely ill with what was diagnosed as septic shock. This is the body’s extreme reaction when trying to fight off an infection. It’s a very serious illness and frequently results in the loss of your life. For those who survive, it’s not at all uncommon to lose a limb or digits or kidney function or any number of other issues. Septic shock takes over your whole body and its survivors generally need months to recover.
When serious enough, one of the components of recovery is physical rehabilitation (PT) to help the patient learn to walk again by regaining the physical strength lost while the patient typically spends months immobile in bed in the hospital. From May through November of last year, I did have a lot of PT to get me moving and able to take care of myself again but I was still left with a bad pain in my back at waist level due to spasms. The pain was so bad that it would cause me to be bent over when the pain would escalate. The only relief I could find was to sit down to get the pressure off my back by stretching it out. Obviously, it’s pretty difficult to live a full life when you need to sit down most of the day just to deal with your pain.
About five weeks ago, my internist thankfully referred me to Compass PT and to Mark Kevern for help with this intense pain.
To start my recommendation, I knew from my first visit that I was in the right place. Dr. Kevern (Mark) is very serious about his profession, highly knowledgeable and a very good person. During my first four weeks with Compass, I received great PT that was targeted to my back issue. A custom exercise program was put together for me to do at home. All other staff in Compass PT is similarly top notch, kind and helpful. Their facility is light, bright and very clean. I really enjoy my PT visits at Compass and look forward to going there for help.
And then the most remarkable thing happened: last week, Mark worked with me and used a procedure to address a misalignment in my spine that either occurred or was exacerbated during my hospitalization with the septic shock. I have now had more than three full days of being free of the spasms that were causing all of this life-limiting pain. I can stand and sit perfectly straight and can now get back to really living again!
In a matter of weeks, Mark fixed what several other great professionals tried to help me with but with no success. I am confident that this is the permanent fix I’ve been praying for.
I’m amazed and so very grateful. Being referred to Compass PT and Mark Kevern proved to be life-changing for me. Words can never express my thankfulness for Mark’s help in diagnosing my issue and then, most of all, fixing the problem that no one else could.
I highly recommend Compass PT for all of your PT needs. Along with a superb staff, Mark has created a facility of healing and, in my case, doing the impossible. While in the Compass office, I’ve also noticed how much their other patients are being helped and that they similarly really enjoy their time with Compass.
This is a winning combination when trying to physically recover. The mind and body connection can’t be denied.
They are the best!

I have been an avid exerciser and runner for 30 years. I hurt my back this summer and was unable to move without intense pain and was very nervous about going to a PT. Mark Severn and Compass PT was a lifesaver to me. He not only made my back better, but has also taught me a lot about how to keep it from happening again. I cannot say enough about Mark’s professionalism, knowledge, and ability to work with people. Great place!

I hurt my back at the end of June this year (2017) - saw my doctor the same day who told me my best chance of a faster recovery was to start PT right away. My doctor's office called around for me and Compass was able to get me in the very next day (the others didn't have openings until a week away). Turned out he fit me into his schedule so I wouldn't have to suffer longer than necessary.

He and his wife just started this business together, but he's had many years of experience and education as a physical therapist and it shows. He is extremely knowledgeable and made different suggestions to find an option that worked best for me. He even identified that since I was rather flexible I was more prone to these types of injuries and pains. He gave me advice on how to help avoid it in the future.

I couldn't recommend Mark Kevern at Compass Physical Therapy more - he's extremely personable and truly wants to do what's best for his patients.
