Hands down the best bakery in the ENTIRE WORLD and if you can’t get behind that it’s definitely the best bakery in the greater Boston area (even featured in The Boston Globe). I have had almost everything thing this bakery has to offer and I can confidently, whole-heartedly, swear that they can do not wrong (there was this one pastry I didn’t like but it had to be a me problem). The owner has perfected the art of flakiness and any croissant like pastry will leave trail of happiness and crumbs. The staff is incredible as well, true gems. Each visit of mine consists of warm greetings and endearing smiles as they fill my bag with delightful treats, sometime I even get an extra morning bun. My favorite is the everything croissant, an explanation will do no justice you’ll just have to try it yourself and you’ll want to get there early before they sell out. Another favorite of mine are the unique cardamom swirls. I bet you’ve never heard of such a thing. Again you’ll just have to go try it. In the afternoon they serve pizza with brilliant (vegetarian friendly) topping combinations and fabulous flavor. Furthermore, I the bakery is women owned, queer owned, LGBTQIA+ plus friendly, and is more welcoming than Starbucks and Tatte adjacent places. I can not speak highly enough of this bakery and if you’ve been searching for something new look no further.
The worst thing, I’ve experience are the rude customers that come in at near closing and expect extra efforts from an already amazing hardworking early rising staff. Please go and support. They deserve it and you deserve a treat.

One of my absolute favorite places! Every pastry I've tried here is incredible. Grab a morning bun or a cretzel (that's a croissant pretzel and it's amazing) and an iced latte. Or an almond cornmeal cake, or a slice of pizza. It's all delicious!

Checked out Butternut Bakehouse at opening to avoid the line and secure the goods before anything could sell out. There is plenty of street parking and a few small tables inside but not ideal for large groups.

I got the popular morning bun, the chocolate caramel latte croissant, which was a special for the day, and a jam bun, which was peach flavored this time. The morning bun had an interesting chewy bite to it, which I really liked. It was also the perfect amount of sweetness. The chocolate caramel latte croissant was my favorite of the three. It had a strong coffee flavor and was very flaky. The jam bun was just okay--it didn't have a lot of peach filling, so I mostly just tasted the outer pastry.

This place is a bit of a drive, so I wish I had gotten more, but this just means that I'll be back!

I admit I’ve been avoiding this place. Everything looked so tempting and yet so fattening… Finally broke down today and every blissful bite was worth it. As I bit into the Morning Bun I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of a forgotten beloved baked good from long ago. But it was so much better. Sugary, but not cloyingly sweet, and somehow crispy, soft and chewy all at once. The cardamom swirl is also delicious. Can’t wait to try everything. I’ll just have increase my step count.

Great bakery with a variety selection of freshly baked goods. I had the sugary cinnamon bun and it did not disappoint. Make sure to sign up for a gym after you visit this one cuz you’ll be coming back.

I stopped in to the Belmont location and picked up some morning buns and almond croissants yesterday. A friend had told me that the morning buns were amazing so I bought some as well as some almond croissants. The morning bun was amazing! The almond croissant, just as amazing!

Decadent pastries and delicious capuccino, friendly staff, lovely space filled with natural light, plants, and art. Nice ecologically conscious touches like biodegradable cups for to-go drinks and reusable water cups. Inclusive, clean and bright all-gender restrooms. One of the nices touches is that prices include a 12% Arlington location and Belmont is much bigger with way more seating. A must try!

Awesome little bakery. My partner volun-tells me to pickup some of the vegan salted chocolate walnut cookies most weekends. Absolutely delicious and the staff is super friendly!

The lines can get long for very good reason, but don't be deterred, they move quickly. Here are my favorite reasons:

0. The people working there are amazing, and kind. Once I forgot my card and they used the community card to check me out.

0.5. The chai. It is made with whole spices (which you can actually see at the top of the tea shelf) and it's amazing. It's not the Starbucks sickly-sweet stuff that mostly tastes like cinnamon and ginger, it is real chai, and it's not too sweet. My favorite drink is a dirty chai (chai + espresso shot).

1. The morning bun is actually the bakery's logo. Like everything here, it's not too sweet (though it is sweet) and is intensely flavorful.

2. The jam bun is a close second to the morning bun.

Really good bakery with vegan options. We really enjoyed the apple fritters (only available Sunday after 10 am) so much that we forgot to take a picture of it! They also had an interesting pop tart and a vegan lemon raspberry olive oil cake.

There's no seating whatsoever. However, there are a couple benches outside, and you can walk to Arlington Center for benches/chairs to sit. Parking could also be slightly challenging since you only really have Mass Ave street parking.

One of the best London Fogs I have ever had! And an absolutely delish cortado and assorted pastries. Such a nice vibe and super friendly staff!

Such amazing treats! Love the cardamom swirls, which are only available on special days. A few delicious vegan options — cookies and one (seasonal flavor) scone usually available. Lovely staff.

There are countless five star reviews describing the world's most delicious and perfectly crafted yummies which I take pleasure in consuming near weekly. I could go on about these goodies for days. It's the sense of community, however, that has continued to bring me back to Butternut again and again.

Butternut's manager, Allison, and her team (Josh, Molly, etc.) are absolutely wonderful. They keep the often long and winding line in check, are abundantly patient with even the most (unreasonably) cranky of customers and are always finding opportunities to improve the experience for everyone. They clearly take so much pride in their work and it's really lovely to see.

They also have a community tab where you can donate money so folks who may not have enough funds can still get a bite. How cool is that?!

I am so excited for this business to continue growing and expand into new locations. I'm also so grateful for the sense of community I get from stepping in their doors. Thank you Butternut Bakehouse! Arlington (and soon Belmont) are lucky to have you!

Solid french style bakery. Heavy buttered crossants and local coffee stand. Few tables and counter sitting. Mainly a takeout place. Really good morning bun.

I love everything from Butternut, but especially the savory items. The broccoli-roasted garlic quiche is excellent - custardy eggs, deep, crispy crust, and so flavorful!

I was just passing through Arlington, wanted coffee badly, googled this place, and voila I found myself buying everything other than coffee and they were fantastic! I wish I took pictures before stuffing my face. I loved strawberry meringue and walnut pound. Barista was very kind, efficient, and attentive. Thank you!!

Came here for my first time for their ham and cheese croissant and, let me tell you, thank goodness this place isn't close to me because it would be bad... their prices are incredibly good for Arlington. You just need to go...
