J Morgan's Steakhouse

Just celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary with my husband at J Morgan’s and it was a great night! The food was delicious and all the people working there were so nice! We had the garlic bread (try it!), the wings (unique, but delicious), the house salad (so good), the Cobb salad (crazy huge and excellent), and the Marsala special (that sauce on mashed potatoes was so perfect). For dessert it was difficult to decide on which cake to get (the couple sitting next to us told us we had to try one of their homemade cakes), but we landed on the carrot cake. That cake won’t soon be forgotten! It really was a wonderful celebration evening!

(If you go here, or anywhere, have patience on the staff. All restaurants are trying to get back to normal. It’s not easy. So relax and be kind. We are still all in this together.)

I had the best experience with the most delicious tasting steak and shrimp that I can ever remember having. The service here was way above the best. The staff catered to every need I requested. This is maybe the only restaurant that I would actually fly in from out of state to eat at again and again. I did get my dessert to go. But was so delighted to eat my dessert in the hotel that I passed out from the Glee that my stomach was wonderfully filled with fresh food. Larry Nicoles the head chef was great. I apologize if I spelled your name wrong. But my stomach is still smiling. And my taste buds are still reminiscing.

Absolutely spectacular food. I got the sliced sirloin and shoestring onions with a side of Jim's Lyonnaise (amazing fried potatoes) and EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection.

Only thing worth noting was that meals were somewhat pricey... but that shouldn't deter you. Prices weren't outrageous and honestly, given how divine the meals were, I'd say it was worth it. This is definitely a restaurant I'd recommend making a staple to any trip to the Montpellier, VT area.

We had Jem as our waitress and she was fabulous - very nice, knowledgeable, and timely... She made our experience extremely enjoyable.

Just had a delicious anniversary dinner/last date night before our baby arrives.
Beautiful restaurant with an upscale vibe, sublet but tasteful decor.. Our server (Liv or Lin)(I'm bad with names) was awesome. Attentive & made sure we had everything we needed!
We had the garlic bread & crispy chicken for apps, both yum! For entrées my boyfriend had the VT maple ginger salmon and I had the filet mignon & added the buttered lobster... both were amazing!!! My man raved about his salmon and my entrées was exactly what I have been craving, cooked to perfection.
We ordered the strawberry cake togo, and though I haven't dug into it yet, if it tastes as good as it looks, I know I'm going to be happy!! (Really, hard to get such a pretty presentation in a togo container, but they did it!)
Long story short, we had a fabulous meal & experience & are happy we chose here to celebrate this evening...we will definitely be back.

We have visited J Morgan's two times! Both times the food and service were amazing! I Highly recommend giving them a try! It's a little on the pricey side but well worth it!

J. Morgan's Steakhouse gave us our best meal by far on our entire vacation. The salad was perfectly dressed and the garlic bread was 5+. We know now why they call it their "famous" garlic bread. Our steaks were cooked as ordered and superbly seasoned. Great selection of spirits as well. Fred, our bartender/server for the evening, was personable and attentive. We wish this restaurant was in our hometown so we could come on a regular basis.

The first time I came here from jersey in April 2021 and I got the cowboy burger and it was the best burger EVER!! But today I went back with my family and I got the pub burger and it was delicious. The food is sooo good and the servers are very helpful! I would definitely recommend to tourists 😁

This is a great steakhouse. It is formal dining but you can dress casual. I have now been there 3 times. Each time the meal was great. Obviously it is a steak house so the best dishes are meat. The other offerings are at the same high level. The steaks are very good and the chef knows how to get them cooked properly. This time I had the Montreal steak. It is a highly seasoned steak and on the border of being too salty. Fred's Calamari was amazing. They always serve a delicious bread and a very tasty salad. The deserts are amazing. Best to make a reservation. It is pretty pricey. My Great grandson loves this place, he is 10. This is a very old school steak house.

Also, note that it is connected to the Capital Hotel and as such is a Hotel Establishment. One family owns both and they are well respected. The Governor frequents this restaurant. That has to be a clue as to it's value.

Amazing!!! Food was massive portions very high end tho only top shelf looking drinks making reservations were easy and the wait staff was so pleasant will definitely go again

Terrific steaks and the maple ginger salmon is absolutely awesome! Kelsey provided great service, even while setting up for a large party. And did I mention the desserts? Oh yum! I split the carrot cake and still had to take a chunk home.

Mostly great food, steak was way more rare than medium rare though, delicious cake, great chicken salads.

Excellent. Elegant but relaxed atmosphere. Great service, great food, decent prices, towards the expensive side but not ridiculously expensive.

Best meal I've had in a long time. I highly recommend the wings, the pesto flatbread, and the Ribeye which was the perfect temp. They know what they are doing here.

Food and service were amazing! Got the NY strip and shrimp scampi, and the peanut butter pie for dessert. Much Better steak than many places with big names in my home city of Chicago - worth the visit if you’re staying anywhere even relatively nearby.

All of the food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable.

The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, they put the right amount of cheese on it, and it was completely chilled. The steaks were of course amazing, cooked perfectly. My rare was rare.

And because it was our anniversary, they gave us a beautiful desert which was absolutely delicious.

Very good steakhouse restaurant and exellent service. We spent luch there, family of 5 and small baby and left very happy. Sallads and steaks were all good and taste & prices were reasonable too. Very recommended !

We have eaten at J. Morgans a few times and the food and service is always outstanding. Peyton, our waitress was outstanding and very helpful (took great care of my buddy who had just broken some bones in his shoulder in a ski accident). The salmon special was fantastic and very flavorful as was the bread pudding for dessert. It has become our “go to” whenever we visit Montpelier. We look forward to going back!

Great prices for a steakhouse. They do validate parking. I got my Cowboy Burger cooked medium and it was just about perfect. Kids meals are served in a frisbee that the kids can keep. I highly recommend it if you are in Montpelier.

I loooooved the steak. It was juicy and delicious (I had mine medium-well). The side vegetables were fresh and well prepared. My husband had a filet mignon and loved it too. Highly recommend.
