I have been a patient of Dr. Vaths for many years. Through the right medication and intense counseling, he has literally saved my life. I am the wife, mom and woman today because of the highly trained doctors at Psychiatric Medicine Associations.

The amount of time and attention given to my health has been well above what I was told to expect from associates who visited other locations. I was seen quickly after being put on the wait/cancellation list. I have recommended to several people.

I’ve had a very pleasant experience with Dr Bouzis and the support staff. My only complaint is that I had to wait a very long time to get my initial appointment but that’s not PMA’s fault, that’s just the reality of the availability of mental health care in America, particularly in the summer.

This rating is based on my experience with Dr. David Avery. He lectured me during various visits about my birth control method then asked me how I felt about abortions, then asked me if I would get one. I have no plans to get pregnant at the moment. He seems to have been bringing his personal problems into our appointments -- maybe his girlfriend got knocked up once? But that doesn't have to do with me and it was disrespectful. It was VERY uncomfortable meeting with him each month.

Flawed billing practices. Took over 3 weeks to get a billing statement with a $200 overcharge with no explanation. Charges $125 in additional fees even in the event of death. Avoid this provider at all costs.

I have been looking for a Psychiatrist for about year. I finally found someone that had an opening for me. In March my application to be a patient was approved and I received a 30 min intake appointment 2 months later. I had never heard of a patient having to apply to be a patient. Well, today Friday May 13th (yes I know kind of ominous, but I am not superstitious) I was sitting at home. After taking a day off of work, I started to look into what I needed to do for my appointment. This was about 9:45am when, at 9:59am I literally saw a message pop up from my calendar that my 2:30 pm appointment was cancelled. I thought I did something wrong when I looked at their email so I called right away. The lady that answered was a little abrupt, but still friendly enough. I explained my situation and she put me on hold. When she came back she became rude and told me she had no idea and she'll call me by the end of the day. I ask her to explain to me how she could wait until the end of the day to explain what happened if I had a 2:30pm appointment. Her response, which became more rude by the minute, was that that was what she had to do to research it. So I ask if she had me on the books before 10am and she told me that that's what she needs to research and she will call me before the end of the day. In today's computer age I am not sure why a couple of key strokes would not answer some of these basic questions. Patients have to apply and are dropped on a whim. Patients that are in an unhealthy state of mind, a vulnerable state and these characters put us through this three ring circus. I will report them to the board as well as to the BBB and other review sites. I am calling out the co-founders to solve this debacle not just with my own experience, but with every patient that has had a bad experience. You are preying on the vulnerable. Unprofessional, egocentric, elitist, rude and overall hurtful place of business. I will recommend to everyone to never, ever go to this business. I finally realize why they had an opening when no one else did.

The policy these people have for missed appointments is unnecessarily harsh and honestly goes against the care they claim to provide. I can’t at all recommend them in good conscience. I understand they must deal with many people who abuse and disrespect the professionals time but…the fact that they build their policy exclusively around those individuals does not reflect well on them. Please consider seeking treatment elsewhere.

Made my partner wait for months with near zero communication, then rejected as a patient. No respect for people who are already struggling and trying to find help. Didn't even give recommendations of other practices to reach out to. Never seen such disdain from a medical provider towards the people they are ostensibly trying to serve. Don't waste your time trying to get an appointment here. 0 stars if I could.

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. After two appointments, both of which had to be paid out of pocket in advance of receiving any kind of care because they accept very few insurance plans, I received no help other than a recommendation to go to an outpatient service. Adding insult to injury, an additional $175 fee was billed to me after my second appointment, which I had already been required to pay $230 for in advance (as noted above). Absolutely unacceptable. Dr. Ashley Bouzis did not alert me at any point during that second visit that such an action would be taken, and when contacted, said that she decided that it was warranted because she felt my case was “more complex” than she “first anticipated.” Funnily enough, I am currently seeing a different therapist at another clinic who knows of Dr. Bouzis because they have patients who left PMA because of the insufficient or bad care they received from her. If you are going to receive therapy at this clinic, be sure to review the doctors available and choose wisely.
