Javier's Gourmet Mexicano

A Dallas staple of a restaurant. Busy every weekend and never disappoints.

We order carajillos to start, lots of great appetizers. Our favorite being the ceviche. No shortage of margaritas.

We love the red snapper and steak options specifically. Service has always been friendly and helpful, we always ask for menu recommendations and favorites.

Make sure to leave time to hit the cigar bar afterwards. We save room for a smoke and desert in the back. Tres leches & flan are favorites.

Javier's is a class act. From the moment you enter and Javier himself greets you, it feels like home. The whole experience is memorable from the themed decor to the attentive service to the PHENOMINAL food. As Javier recommended, I, too, agree you must get the sampler appetizer. The quail is like none other. I had the Mole Poblano, which was one of the best ever. The atmosphere While appears very busy, and bustling still provides a setting for intimate discussion without much effort to listen. Thanks Javier for keeping it classy. I have heard about this place alot and finally Date Night there. We were treated so well and the food was soooooooo good. I didn't get a pic of the food but really enjoyed the cigar lounge. This will be put on rotation!!!!!

Started off by walking home last night and had to stop by here. Food smelled amazing we couldn't just walk away! I ordered Filete Con Champiñones. SO TENDER! I loved the Brandy and mushroom sauce it came with. The seasonal veggies were also a huge hit! 😋 I also ordered a pineapple margarita and had an order of chips and salsa. My husband ordered a chicken mole dish. He offered a bite, and the chicken was also beautifully tender! It was a chilly night, but the patio was nicely heated. The service was outstanding. For a busy looking night, our food came out before we could finish our chips! I only have one complaint and it's not even a huge complaint: the music felt too pop-esque and modern. I was hoping for something a little bit more authentic. I love how they stayed on a romantic Playlist, but hearing Bruno mars at a gourmet Mexican restaurant threw me off! Not bad music, I just wish it fit the vibe of the place more.

Javier’s is like no other place around here. Came with my husband for date night & it was fabulous!!!! I strongly recommend the smoked chicken nachos. They were incredible. You could taste the smokiness in the chicken. The presentation was wonderful as well. Our waiter was great but unfortunately did not get his name. Service was top notch and he made fantastic recommendations. We got to talk with him for quite a bit and it seems like he really loves his job. Manager stopped by to check on us as well which always stands out in my eyes too. Once we were finished eating we headed next door to the cigar lounge for another round of drinks and my husband got a cigar. Such a cool vibe!!! This place is a great spot for date night. Highly recommend! I have literally not a single complaint except that we didn’t find this place sooner!!! Will be making this our regular date night spot. Thanks to everyone at Javier’s for making our experience 10/10!

As far as I am concerned, Javier’s is the top restaurant in Dallas. I am originally from Dallas, but have lived in Chicago for about ten years now…whenever I fly back “home”, Javier’s is a must. When you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by friendly staff and a very interesting decor of rustic paintings and trinkets. The meal begins with a delicious frozen margarita accompanied with two of the most divine salsas you will ever experience. The menu is loaded with traditional Mexican fare, but in my opinion the fajitas (beef!) are the way to go. Many delicious appetizers too. Have to finish off with a flaming Mexican coffee and a cigar in the cigar room!

Incredible first visit! Highly recommend the Sampler Platter (possibly the best quail), the Filete Durango, and the Snapper Marinero! So looking forward to returning to dine and having one of Victor's special Margaritas, Espresso Martinis, and the incredible Cafe Pierre!

One way to describe Javier's is it's amazing. The staff is incredible. Our waiter told us he has worked there over 50 years. We started our evening in the cigar room. The service was great and the drinks were tasty. After a few, we had dinner in the typically crowded restaurant. Dinner was great. I suggest you splurge on dessert. I don't know how they do it but the valet parking works. Can't wait to go back!

Well this was just an incredible experience! Our friends who live in Dallas made a reservation here while we were visiting and it was stupendous. Parking is a huge challenge, unless you valet your Lamborghini that is. The restaurant itself is very cramped and a bit tight to navigate and get to your table. But the margaritas, the pollo entrée with mole sauce, and chicken nachos, the chips and salsa!! Wowww. Everything was incredible. The service was first rate. I mean really really a black tie affair, definitely an upper tier restaurant. You will know what you are paying for. Last thing is, make sure you get the Cafe Pierre for dessert. It is a flambe after dinner drink with cinnamon and 151 rum that was a sumptuous treat.

Great place! You actually get seated by Javier. Great atmosphere and the wait staff is excellent! Try to get Carlos. We will definitely be back. It has been around since 1977 so they are doing a lot of things right. Make a reservation because this place gets packed. They also have a cigar lounge and parking is valet. Do yourself a favor and get the key lime pie for dessert .

We had an amazing time. The food at Javier's was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing.

I had "Cantinflas". The beef was tender & juicy, with flavor that was sooo good!

I Highly recommended this establishment.

Has anyone ever had a bad time at Javier’s? Doubt it. My husband and I visited on Valentine’s Day evening so you can imagine how busy it was, but that didn’t seem to slow them down. We had reservations and were seated immediately after valeting. Our server was friendly and provided great drink/food recommendations throughout the night. The cocktails were fresh, the food was hot and the desserts were amazing. Highly recommend trying the black bean soup and the house special, “Filete Cantinflas”.

This place was packed, and obviously it was for a good reason. The experience was incredible. The food was amazing, servers were so gracious, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Wide selection of food and drinks, and the history of the place is a great story! Definitely recommend!

Always an amazing meal, and the chips are obviously addictive. Great Durango steak. Always my favorite.

This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been too. It's not your typical run of the mill Mexican with burritos and tacos but more of an upscale menu with thinks like Filet Durango and quail. It's also a great scene.Highly recommend it and I'll definitely be back

Javier’s is a unique but delicious Mexican restaurant in Dallas with great vibes. If you are expecting traditional Tex Mex, then Javier’s may not be your spot, but the menu is full of unique and delicious options. I highly recommend the Filete Cantiflas with a house margarita and a cigar if you are feeling up to it. The atmosphere is top notch and they have a great patio with heaters on nice nights.

The food is truly amazing, and the vibe is genuinely authentic. The only problem was the old and uncomfortable chairs that making it a bit challenging to sit, relax, and fully enjoy the experience.

Simply the best overall authentic Mexican restaurant in metro Dallas. Located near Highland Park I highly recommend you make a reservation.

The fresh grouper with rice and black beans is top notch both in preparation and presentation. The chips with homemade salsa served warm is simply the best you will find anywhere.

The service is old school and each table is given outstanding attention. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food and service you receive.

Valet parking is an added bonus.

Food was great, special of day Red Snapper.

The atmosphere is just fantastic, and having Javier come around and say Hi was icing on the cake.

If you love mexican food and a moody, dim, romantic dinner spot, with 10/10 service - this is your place! My new favorite restaurant in Dallas.
