Best chicken mole I have had in Texas! Love this home style Mexican restaurant in the beautiful hills west of Austin. Friendly staff, great food. 10/10

Extremely friendly and hospitable! GREAT Mexican cuisine and they provide food and beverage free of charge to the less privileged such as “Nick” who has managed to survive in the community for years. Nick is not able to work and has been a fixture in the hill country for years. May God Bless him and all those at La Cabana for their Godly ways.

Best authentic Mexican around. We drive 35 minutes to eat there several times a month. Salsa always fresh and spicy. Fast and courteous staff. Best rice and beans ever. Charro beans the best. Go eat there!

Discovered this place by accident, but definitely coming back. The food, service, cleanliness and ambiance are amazing. The meats were chargrilled to perfection, salad was amazing, service very friendly, just downright inviting you to come back over and over. Generous portions, exceptional value, and quality of ingredients, make for an experience to remember.

Stopping here a quick bite to eat and so glad we did

The food is so fresh and delicious. Lots of menu items and a really great kids menu too

We had queso, the chimichanga (with your choice of meat) that’s covered in QUESO! And the pastor tacos and a a la carte cheese enchilada

The charro beans here are absolutely amazing. I would come here to just eat those.
The best I’ve ever had!

Also the prices are super reasonable! We will be back

First time visiting (from out of town) and loved it! The pulled pork queso was so good I couldn’t get enough. Brisket tacos were packed full and so juicy. I will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area!

First time here. Was here for mother's day. Food excellent and the staff is excellent. Large portions and good quality for a decent price. Gluten sensitive menu!

Best michelada! Fast, friendly, and attentive service even though only 2 small parties outside (need mosquito repellent). Great menu options. Food was good and made to order, salsa is great! Nachos were more than enough for 2. Mexican Martini also a hit. Will be back.

The best crispy tacos pastor and sour cream enchiladas I have EVER had! Margaritas were spot on as well. A few flies and a bee trying to get outside caused minimal disturbance; bathroom was very clean. Next time we'll sit outside, since today was absolutely beautiful. Even though we're from the Houston area, we can't wait to try out some other dishes here!

La Cabaña is a beautiful gem of a restaurant within Spicewood and is something which I hold closely to my heart. It's a small business with only one location and I would highly advise for you to enjoy it, love it and keep going there. Although it's been many years, I remember back in 2007 or 2008ish it was a family owned business from a teacher at Bee Cave elementary. I believe it was family owned before that sale, and at my most recent visit I assumed the business to still be family owned, if or not by another doesn't matter to me.

What does matter is keeping this restaurant alive. I love this restaurant and hold it dearly to my heart. Back when my family and I lived in Spicewood from 2005 to 2010 we were frequently going to this restaurant. I honestly don't remember how many hundreds of times I've been there as a child. I do remember everything about the restaurant being grand and marvelous.

I remembered everything that could be critiqued or complained about always being perfect, and if not then it was due to a perfectly normal and human understanding and reasoning.

Around August I personally visited the restaurant again. It had been 13 years since I had last been there. I had finished my education from the Houston region and I wanted to visit my childhood area again. I wanted to visit Spicewood, Lake Travis, Briarcliff, just anything and everything I remember as a child in the general area. I was beyond happy to still see this restaurant alive and kicking.

I left early in the morning to make it to Spicewood, although my hotel check in time wasn't until 3pm and I was in the area hours early was all the better for me. I started driving around and visiting as many childhood places as I could remember. I would get out, explore a little and take photos for myself. All the while the extreme Texas heat wave is going on and thankfully my little car is able to scoot along reliably and I had plenty of water, gas in my tank, and time.

I kept exploring until I felt ready to eat a horse. Thankfully it was past 3pm and I checked into my hotel and unpacked and immediately rushed for La Cabaña. I don't remember the exact time, but it was well after lunch rush but still before anyone remotely related with the dinner crowd would walk in. Yet I was ready to walk in.

I parked in the parking lot, still as big and glorious as I remember. There's no formal lines, just parking with respect for one and another. It was beyond hot, 100+ degrees. I walked in and felt a nice chill of air conditioning. The entrance door was just as I remembered. The weight of that door is light but closes with meaning. As soon as you walk in a mirror was greeting me, just as I remembered.

The restaurant is self seating and the layout was unchanged. What did change was something near the restroom entrance. There's a magazine congratulating the restaurant for their years of operation and continued success. The menu is much simpler and more streamlined compared to the menu of my memories. The food was incredible. The presentation was beautiful and the overall flavor was nothing other than delicious. I highly advise that you get Charro beans, no other side dish is even worthy of discussion if charro beans are available. Once you're done and ready to pay you just walk up to a table. You can tell which table it is as soon as you walk in and if not then use some logic to figure it out.

After paying I asked for permission to walk around outside and if that type of thing is still allowed, thankfully it was and is. Outdoors I went. Everything is still there. The long horn, the angels and Mother Mary as well as my Frog prince.

If you want a small relic of a much simpler time and very relaxed atmosphere, you go to La Cabaña. If you want the best, you go to La Cabaña.

It was a great place to try just outside of Austin. The poblano item was unique for us and really good.

Omg! I'll be back. Just a random little hole in the wall but the food was amazing. I got the fried avocado plate... just Fantastic! Everyone in my group enjoyed the food. The backyard has cute walking paths as well.
