Holiday Inn Express Boston-Waltham, an IHG Hotel

We stayed here overnite cos of convenient location off I 95.
Clean comfortable hotel. Rooms v spacious. Friendly welcoming staff. Lots of parking. Breakfast looked standard though we didn’t have it.
Will be back again when in the area.

Hotel was nice and the staff are friendly. Hotel is dog friendly and they have a small fenced in dog area where they can run off leash. There is a continental breakfast but it was not very impressive. The rooms were clean. The gym is small but has the equipment you need. There is a nice Tavern across the street which had great food.

I’m giving this place 5 stars not because it’s an actual 5-star hotel but because cheap but clean and comfortable hotels are like unicorns. If you’re looking for a luxurious stay, look elsewhere. But if you need an affordable hotel in the Boston area where you can sleep comfortably without an Ick Factor, this is your place. Pros: very comfortable beds, clean where it counts, nice staff, nice breakfast, one coin-operated washer and dryer on site, pretty good location, at least 4 restaurants within easy walking distance (Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and a local place literally across the street, plus 2 local trendy place less than a half mile away), 2 Dunkin close by including one in the Shell station on the corner in case you don’t like hotel coffee, and of course, it’s cheap. Also, downtown Waltham is about a 10- minute drive, and there are tons of cool restaurants there. Cons: furniture in the room is dodgy (are those stains, or is that the pattern?) and the entire area outside the hotel smells like natural gas for no apparent reason, so walking outside was unappealing. The hotel itself doesn’t smell great, but it doesn’t smell like mold, Febreze, or mold covered by Febreze, so it’s fine. For the price, we will definitely be back.

Spotlessly clean, efficient layout, looks well taken care of. Someone is paying attention to details here. Loved the two types of pillows, "soft" and "firm", for each side of the bed. Highly recommend this place.

On 2 of the 4 days I stayed (12/29/2023 - 1/2/2024) on 12/30/2023 and 1/1/2024, there were false fire alarms in the middle of the night requiring that I dress and go outside. The Fire Department came both nights and said something was wrong with the fire alarm system. If it just happened one night, I would give them the benefit of the doubt but 2 nights shows there is a serious management issue. On my last morning leaving, someone was diagnosing the problem by blowing air from a can of air into every smoke detector. Unbelievable.

Perfectly met our needs for a Mass General visit. Everything about our stay was positive. Beds very comfy, interiors all new and up to date. Thank you for the clean, comfortable, safe facility.

Had a comfortable and pleasant stay here in August. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good. Location was convenient to Boston.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was good, with several options. Fitness room was adequate. The location has no mass transit available, so factor in a lot more for Uber rides either to a tram station or into Boston.

Jordan the night manager is an exceptional person who has created a culture of random acts of kindness thats reflects itself in the way every staff members interacts with customers. I believe Jordan he has a bright future in leadership and management ahead of him in the hotel industry or in whatever course he takes in life. Robert Hargrove

We just stayed one night, we came due to an emergency and had barely slept the day before so we were late for breakfast and we had a 1 year old with us, fortunately we had Maria there on the breakfast area, she was an angel to us and helped us get fed even though it was a bit passed 9:30 am. Thank you Maria! Thank you for your hospitality, for making us feel at home and most of all, for feeding my child, that has no words. Thank you to the staff, everyone was very friendly and happy , will definitely recommend and come back again .

Had a great stay - awesome value. I dropped my wallet down the elevator and the staff bent over backwards to make sure I got it back. Great location too.

Professional and friendly front desk and housekeeping. Clean rooms and decent free breakfast. The location is great and just off the highway with some good food options nearby. Nothing to complain about!

Life saver in a pinch! I made the mistake of booking a room at the extended stay America just up the road and was disgusted at the blood and sweat on the sheets and black mold in a few other places so I stumbled across the Holiday Inn Express on my way to try and find something else in the area. Not sure why it didn't originally pop up when I was looking for a hotel in the area but whatever. I was greeted by a nice young lady who helped me into a nice clean room without a reservation. She was very understanding and had also heard nightmare stories about the ESA I had just come from. I am very thankful and will be booking again soon as I have another trip to the area upcoming. The room itself was impeccably clean and so was the bedding, no bed bugs, blood stains or other disgusting messes. The bed was a bit soft for my taste but I have back problems and prefer a firm mattress but that's not a reason to take a star away.

Room 128 was nice and clean and spacious but the Wi-Fi had issues which they said they would look into. I did get 30 Mbps once but every other attempt over 36 hours was under 0.4 Mbps, but I did have a decent cell phone signal to hotspot from instead.
The room maintained a constant temperature very well with a constant noise level. Combined with comfy beds, we slept well both nights.
Lobby was nice but I was reluctant to use those comfy chairs to read and escape the noise of the family in our room because they all faced the main door and front desk, but that is not unusual for this chain and the breakfast area was available for this purpose.
Breakfast was about average for the chain, nothing to especially praise about it or put it down. I wish the eggs and sausage patties were not so dried out and they had something for whole wheat breakfast cereal besides raisin bran.
No problems with the cable TV or ice or anything else.
I am surprised the initial installation quality of the sliding bathroom door and the bathroom sink passed inspection but it is a done deal now and they work.

This has been one of the most positive experiences I have had for a hotel stay.
The interior is very clean with a modern design. The room I stayed in was spacious with a kitchenette area that is at the entrance and a study space near the windows. I had no issues with the bed or bathroom plumbing.
The staff is polite and friendly towards guests.
I have no complaints whatsoever and wish my stays were like this at other hotels.

Another great stay at the Holiday Inn. Very clean and comfortable! The gym is convenient and the front desk staff is always very accommodating. The only drawback is wanting to eat about 5 Cinnamon Rolls every stay.

Amazing hotel! Free breakfast, renovated rooms, and the staff was very friendly. Jordan at the front desk was such a pleasure to work with. Will definitely stay here again when I come to MA. Highly recommend!
