The food was amazing. We couldn’t stop ordering more plates. The scallop appetizer was so refreshing and delicious! They also have a shrimp weekend special that was just packed full of flavor. My husband had the Birria taco dish and I had to fight him to a bite. The mezcal drinks were also done very well, we loved it. Before we left, the owner gave us two shots on the house because she knew we were from out of town. This was such a great dining experience, highly recommend!!

Small plates Mexican restaurant with good service and a nice evening atmosphere. Food was quite good with fun flavor mixes. The drinks were excellent and I’d definitely return just to grab a drink sometime.

Visited a friend and came for a drink. Did two mezcal flights. Loved trying all the different ones. Had dinner and everything easy so good! The duck tamal with mole was probably my favorite. Really good gringas. Had the aguachile as well and it was great. Came back for brunch the next day because it was that good. I recommend getting the green chilaquiles. The enmoladas were amazing as well! Madison took care of us and she was amazing. Coming back here the next time I’m in Boston.

Barra has consistently come up as one of the best authentic mexican spots in our area. We loved this place when it was one of the smallest yet best cocktail bars in the city. Good drinks can be had just about anywhere these days . This place mixed superb cocktails. They still do :). Pair that with simply excellent Mexican creations and we have another winner in somerville. This cozy spot is not . your average Mexican place.. there are no hot sauves on all the tables . The food is so good that you should taste it as it was meant from the kitchen

We were greeted warmly and encouraged to try some of the staple dishes from Mexico, which we loved! The drinks were amazing, atmosphere perfect. Cute patio to sit with the family outside or inside.

Cute Mexican restaurant with a cozy bar in the front room and more restaurant seating in the back and an outdoor patio. We came here for dinner and had the cochinita pibil plate and octopus tostada, both were delicious. The cochinita was especially excellent with the handmade tortillas that came on the side. The meat was tender and flavorful yet not too salty or greasy. We also had the regular margarita and the prickly pear margarita, both were great as well. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good Mexican bite and lively atmosphere.

The best mezcal selection I've found in New England with knowledgeable staff to match. Creative cocktails and great micheladas, plus a number of local and Mexican beers. Food-wise, I've yet to have a dish that wasn't excellent. The fresh house made tortillas are always a highlight, and the cochinita pibil is a personal favorite. Food prices are a bit higher than other Boston area Mexican restaurants, but that price is reflected in the quality.

Really friendly service - the lady spent time chatting to us about London where we’re from and giving us tips for food and activities nearby. Food was lovely. The sweetcorn was amazing. Really nice, chilled vibe for dinner

One of my biggest complaints since moving to Boston is that there's no good Mexican food. Well I take it back. This place is LEGIT. ¡No manches! Tortilla 💯, limón, y all the flavors I so dearly miss. We came for brunch but also got to select some tacos off the dinner menu. Stand outs for us were the enfrijoladas, chilaquiles verdes + egg, gringa tacos, flan for a sweet and wash it all down with carajillos (ask for the nixta version). Also noteworthy is super friendly staff, no es un secreto que es algo que le falta en la ciudad IFYKYK. I can't wait to go back, I forgot they sell handmade tortillas to go too. A Somerville treasure!

I love the food and service they always are trying Their best not to mention the drinks.
Beside that the place has a good space for event if you want.

The service was phenomenal and loved the atmosphere. The owner came over at the end and asked how everything was, as well as any honest feedback. It was definitely a bit pricey but worth it for the cozy, welcoming ambience. Order the tacos!

Incredibly nice staff! Also very dog friendly place! There's a regular shiba inu there named Morimoto that deserves all the petting. So when you go, it's mandatory that you pet the good boy!

Their tacos are TOP TIER and their drinks are delicious! Combine that with an awesome vibe and you got a great spot to regularly visit. This place is worth your time!

We just celebrated my husband 50th at Barra
They acomodated 25 guest and made the celebration super special. The food, the service and the atmosphere were excellent. ALL of the staff members including the owners were very attentive. Thank you for such a special night!

Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in Boston. The margaritas were perfectly crafted and the food authentic and delicious. Highly recommend the Cochinita Pibil.

SO GOOD. Loved the drinks, vibes & tacos here! We had mulled wine & the Oaxaca’s Manhattan. The handmade tortillas were incredible & the dessert was the best. Also they have a great Spotify Playlist. If you go, make a reservation so the staff can accommodate you as best as possible in this intimate space!

This cozy spot was such an accidental find for me and I had an absolutely lovely time here. I got the ceviche which was fresh and bright and I highly recommend the chips and salsa and grasshopper on the side. As an entre I got the Gringa which was phenomenal. The drinks here were also next level. We tried the Mezcal margarita, Sotol flight, Sotol cocktail and the Agualoca. The hosts here were so incredibly hospitable and even offered us a dessert drink at the end. I can't recommend this place enough.

My wife and I took the trek over for our anniversary. The staff is extremely friendly, kind, and made us feel right at home. With rain expected for the day of our reservation, they also kept in contact via email to ensure that we could reschedule or eat indoors (which we opted to to). The drinks were fantasic. Here again, the staff shined. Our waiter took the time to help us choose and even gave us a crash course in tequila history.

The food was on another level! We shared green aguachile and had dobladas de papa y camarón and tacos de costra. Without a doubt some of the best bites we've ever had in any cuisine. To cap it off we were treated to champagne for our anniversary.

Dinner was hoppin'!

Grasshoppers are the distinctive ingredient in a few of their dishes including the Cantina Peanuts and the Tetela we enjoyed and even a garnish on my fiancé's mezcal margarita! Crunchy, salty and an experience you can’t knock until you try it (when in Rome, right?).

Barra is also known for serving their tacos on hand-pressed blue corn tortillas so before I placed my taco order, I had to get the @cervezalabru “Blue Corn” Amber Ale brewed in Mexico with Mexican blue corn, this created a really unique flavor that went so well with our Tacos de Chile Relleno which is one of their first dishes that has returned to the menu- stuffed jalapeño w/ground beef, nuts & dried fruit, served on refried beans and pickled vegetables.

This is a must visit in Union Square, go in with an open yet adventurous mindset!

Absolute gem. Had an amazing time munching on freshly made blue corn tacos that one hardly gets to see at a Mexican restaurant. The food was delicious, carefully crafted, and unique. The place is small but has a lot of character and an extensive and innovative drink menu. Try the Agave Caipirinha.
