I am a dentist from Kansas and have been taking training courses from Dr. Carapezza in orthodontics. He is a giant in our profession, a true genius and authority in the field. I wish we had such an accomplished dentist in our community, I would let him treat my children as well as my patients.

The staff are very nice and professional. Waiting time around 10 minutes. Easy to take appointments and always fast in case of emergency.
The doctor is amazing and very nice. My kids loves going to the doctor, knowing that my son had too much work done but still loves going back. Highly recommended.

The guy in charge is pretty old so he doesn't treat his patients as well as you'd hope. His coworkers see this and you can too in the way he handles your teeth or talks to people. At first I thought he didn't know his own strength or forgot things sometimes (everyone has their bad days) but this guy was not a pleasant experience since I was a kid (went there for 10+ years)

Sadist. When I was a child he pulled 6 of my teeth out for no good reason and put braces on me far too early. Then he pulled my 12 year molars and allowed my wisdom teeth to grow in. Now I have a big gap between my wisdom teeth and my back molars which makes it hard to clean. I have lost bone from my jaw and have had all kinds of periodontal issues thanks to Dr. Carapezza.

PART ONE
I am the 75 year old parent of two adult children whom I overheard only a few years ago commiserating with one another about the horrible experiences that they both had in Dr. Carapezza's office in Wayland in the 1970's. When I asked them why they had never shared those experiences with their mother or myself, they indicated that because he treated all of the children that way they naturally assumed that all of the parents were aware of it.

As in many of the published reviews from the 20xx's victims, she was still so traumatized when she discovered that he was still in practice and still getting away with doing the same thing that she sent me links to the reviews from the still traumatized adults.

This review is labelled PART ONE because in PART TWO I will describe the karmic justice for which I hope Dr. Carapezza's former victims will light a candle and pray or offer up their own version of cosmic karmic justice. There is an excellent chance that Google will refuse to post it because of its intensity!

Please note in the reviews that are published in dental websites as well as Google reviews here (all of which barely average over 2 of 5), the reviews of adults who were previously his patients are consistently 1 star. These have been partially offset by 5 star ratings ostensibly posted by parents and another dentist. The 5 star dentist rating is completely bogus. Someone (dental assistant with the knowledge and direction of the dentist maybe ?) took the first and last names of two Kansas dentists who have 5 star ratings themselves to create a ghost dentist who gave Carapezza a 5 star rating. The other high ratings that dragged his average up to 2 stars were ostensibly written by the 'happy' parents of 'happy' children. A parent who was never ever in the room with their child. We know they were not in the room because this has been Carapezza's iron clad policy for over four decades (and the only reason he is still in practice).

If it's too late for the regulators to pull his license to practice, some of his prior victims should seriously consider consulting a large personal injury law firm to explore the possibilities. (Morgan & Morgan, pay attention and reach out to them. Back up your advertising themes with a quest for justice there.)

Prior victims, stay tuned for PART TWO, where I prescribe the appropriate karmic punishment to Carapezza.

Not even the decor and layout could distract from the putridity of everything else here. Dr. Carapezza himself was the sort to roar in a child's face just for being scared of getting braces for the first time; he was also the sort to force a child into a headlock and "demonstrate how to brush", re: force open the mouth and forcibly, violently brush the gums (both of these happened to me). He and his staff (who, beneath their polite/cheerful demeanor, didn't care for patients' wellbeing) carried out procedures in the gruffest manners possible; I have scars on my gums as a result. The novocaine for a cavity drilling once didn't fully settle, yet Carapezza and co. went ahead anyway; same for tooth pulling. Both are part of a long line of bad memories here, some of which I must've repressed over the years.

I once wished Carapezza the best. Thing is, this was before I learned exemplary dentists don't do what I described, and before I went to a tenfold better-staffed, better-equipped dentistry. Suffice to say, I regret my naivety, and I retract my best wishes.

If you want to learn more about what went on here (and still goes on, if it's still in business), keep on reading the negative reviews. As for me, I advise you never send anyone here for any reason.

Listen. I understand he’s old. But that’s no excuse. My daughter was getting a cavity drilled and was shocked by how painful it was. (Note: all this is only what she told me after, and what her sister agreed she saw when she was in the next room getting teeth cleaned. This dentist office does not allow parents to go upstairs to the dentist chairs with kids) She began to cry, and Dr C began telling her “Stop, stop. Stop it now.” And raising his voice at her, saying that she was lucky to even have dental care, because “some kids don’t even have dentists.”

He also constantly hurt my daughters when working on their teeth, like poking them accidentally. Not to mention, my daughters got so many teeth pulled here painfully. Upon hearing about her friend’s dental experiences, my youngest daughter said, “Wait, you’re supposed to be numb enough that it doesn’t hurt?”

My two daughters now have a horrible fear of the dentist. I have seen the other reviews of his confirming this type of treatment of patients. Unacceptable.

We left the office a few years ago, but I’m still so upset about this that I had to share.

I do not recommend Dr Carapezza. He is out of practice and ready to retire. During a simple procedure he took a high speed drill and slipped puncturing my gums two times. My gums were bleeding so much and the damage was so painful I asked him to stop and I immediately went to another dentist to finish the work. I still was asked to pay for the procedure which I did, but when I called later to get my money back I was told I would receive a call the following week from the manager. Never received the call, I called back and was told the same thing, expect a call from the office manager. Never received the call. I’m feed it up with chasing them for the money so they get an awful review instead.

If there were A -0 rating I would Give it that. Buyer beware!!!

1) Office hours are only open three days a week. They never answer the phone. They never return phone calls. After voicing our frustration to the office staff for weeks of trying to get in touch with them and receiving no call back , we were told to email the office manager aka Dr. Carapezza’s wife, Nancy.

2) Office manager, Nancy Has been arrogant and unfriendly. She never responds to emails or would take weeks to respond. Still waiting from a response to an email we sent back in January. When we questioned Nancy about our bill because We are asked to pay for the total cost of the braces upfront and we would receive a refund in the end. In the same process they are also double billing our insurances.

3) Dr. Carapezza is out of date and out of practice. My son was in braces from the time he was 10 years old-16yr old. They told us my daughter would also likely be the same timeframe. We got a reference from another practice that told us she would only be in braces for a year.

This Office has been a headache to deal with. Save yourself the time and find Another professional orthodontist that values their customer unlike like this office.

Don't send your kids to this abusive jerk. A childhood of having the crap slapped out of me and baby teeth yanked without novocaine by this cretin means I fear the dentist more than anything else in life, avoid it like the plague, and have all the dental problems to go with my phobia.
