Bloc Cafe

I feel very lucky to live near such a cozy coffee shop! Bloc is unique because it used to be a bank back in the day. You can even sit in a few areas that used to be vault rooms. The coffee is always wonderful and the staff are kind. They also have smoothies and seasonal drinks like cider if you aren’t a coffee lover. Their patio space is by far one of the best in Somerville.

Great coffee and pastries -- cardamom pastry was delicious and they were able to adjust my cappuccino order to be stronger / less milk. Pretty busy on weekends but they have a big space with lots of tables and so we were able to snag a spot without having to wait for too long, and even when it's busy it doesn't feel too cramped unlike other cafes in the area. Vibes are good and staff is always friendly!

Can't speak to the food, but the coffee is very good! I don't come often so I always love to try the rotating seasonal drinks. Bloc puts a lot of care into presentation and the vibe. It's in the basement of an old bank building and they've decorated it very well. There's generally plenty of seating and it's not too loud, so I've used it as a first date spot a couple of times.

Light, relaxing cafe with a very warm vibe. Great stop for our weekday breakfast. The bagels are made with sourdough and have a soft, chewy texture, absolutely perfect. The scallion cream cheese is a creamy, flavorful dream. I had to also try the cardamon croissant, and it was amazing. It's a must-try if you like cardamom. And if you don't, it may convert you; it's that good! Easy to order ahead online or at the kiosk when you enter. Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.

The old bank turned coffee shop is a great visit! The vanilla oak milk latte and lox on everything bagel was delicious! Sat inside the old vault!

Really enjoyed my time there! Great drinks and food, great atmosphere. Just knocking one star down for WiFi access; signal seems to be very weak/unstable at the front of the cafe where I was sitting. Just plan on bringing a backup plan if you're not able to get online. Regardless, will definitely be going back!

A favorite spot in the neighborhood. Always busy, but not packed. Good vibes, friendly staff. Nice sunny windows and an amazing patio. Bagels are some of the best in the area & sandwiches are delicious.

I LOVE Bloc Cafe. Their vegan club is SO GOOD. I recently moved to Baltimore but am visiting Boston for the weekend and MY GOD Bloc has rejuvenated my soul. Thank you.

I love the outdoor patio! This place has a lot of different options for seating and various chair arrangements around the cafe (for meetings friends or work).
It’s a place I’ve been looking for for a while! I can see it becoming my cozy coffee place!

Awesome coffee shop that was an old bank. Great coffee and awesome vibes. You can actually sit inside the old vault. Definitely worth a visit. Ample parking available

Lovely sandwiches! There are more stuff that I really want to try in the future such as breakfast and salads, but the sandwiches were very good. There is also a really cute space to sit outside, weather and crowd permitted. Otherwise the inner industrial space is also really nice.

A very pleasant coffee store in an old bank which allows for a level of spaciousness, and cosy with the vaults also spaces to enjoy your coffee. Andrea who served us was cheerful and fun and the coffee really was good on this watery winter day. The cinnamon bagel was very tasty.
With a full range a cakes and sandwiches - it looked good. Art on distant is also for sale and they have a book shelving for the ‘More than Words’ org who help people get into work - which is superb.
Overall a lovely Coffee shop with a post office across the road and a comic shop next door and art and books the place to read or write.

The atmosphere was super cute with lots of plants and cool rooms with old vault doors. The pallet breakfast sandwich and avocado toast were quite tasty! They came on delicious focaccia bread and were reasonably priced. We also got the good cappuccino which came with a chicken and heart latte art! We were totally satisfied and would definitely go back

My husband and I came here spontaneously after him being not satisfied with the donut shop across the street. We came for coffee by the sandwiches looked amazing on the photos. My husband was so excited that he wasn’t diss appointed. Her ordered the safe haven sand which was a veggie sandwich with avocado, feta cheese, tomatoes, sprouts among other things and the bread was soft as if homemade. We also ordered coffee which was very good and my husband is a coffee snob and he said it was good coffee. He got an americano and I got a oat milk cappuccino. Both drinks were great. Good ambiance, lots of space to sit and chill. We came early on a Saturday morning and hope to come back again during our short weekend trip since we liked it so much. Ten stars!

It's great. The lattes, the sandwiches, the baked goods, the atmosphere, the unionized staff! Not cheap.

I got the egg and cheese bagel and it was sooo good. It seems to be a simple ingredient to make but definitely not.

Loved this little place in Somerville! Perfect to have breakfast, enjoy the sun in the outdoor patio, work and enjoy yummy food options and drinks! Nice staff as well! :)

Very cute spot! Staff was great and recommended I get my sandwich on their homemade bread which was DELICIOUS! I went back in on my way out for a cookie which was also great.

I love Bloc. Their bagels and focaccia are excellent. I love their lattes and chai. More expensive than average, but it shows in the quality of the food and drinks. Their staff are always friendly and helpful, even when busy.

The old bank aesthetic is also lovely. I love the cosy back area with the fireplace and the table in the vault. Gives some privacy if you are lucky enough to get it. Their outdoor seating is great during the summer.

Food: Stellar! Bagel and lox was delicious on an everything bagel. The Wesley was soooo good with the thick cut bacon cooked perfectly.
Service: Friendly, courteous staff who genuinely seemed to want to do a good job and take care of you.
Atmosphere: Cozy contemporary setting with some outside seating; bench seating and picnic tables with a few small round tables.
