The Longfellow Bar

Great spot in Harvard Square! The cocktails are fabulous, especially suburban legends and cloud nine. We shared the pigs in a blanket (delicious, but be aware the plate comes with 3), the waffle fries (incredible, crispy and the plate is large and great for sharing), and the brussel sprouts (also tasty and great for sharing). We also ordered chips and onion dip which in hindsight was way too much potato with the order of fries but also good and shareable. Our server was attentive and friendly and was on it making sure our water was refilled promptly, which I loved. The bar itself was a cool vibe and the atmosphere is upscale but not too fancy.

Think this will be my new favorite bar! If you want a full dinner, perhaps not the spot (the menu is 'bar' food - albeit very delicious bar food). But! The service was top notch, the decor was lovely, and would recommend the steak tartare and Georgia on my Mind (low proof drink) especially. Definitely a good date spot.

Great atmosphere and great cocktails! We tried several and they were all excellent. Also, really nice background music: not too loud, so perfect for keeping a conversation! We'll come back

A phenomenal place to try if you’re in Cambridge area. Our server, Natalie was amazing! She read out our menu according to the dietary restrictions and gave me suggestions for vegetarian options. The vibe is amazing and their little patio is cute if you’re going on a date or out with friends. Would highly suggest to check them out.

Updates: We went back a second time two weeks later as we were craving for more creative cocktails. This time I had the Code of Silence (W/ Cyndi Lauper) - It’s vodka with meyer lemon and sage oil. This was my 2nd drink I had the first time when we came. He had the Running on Ice - Mezcal, Grapefruit & Cardamom with a Salted Finish. The devil eggs and tuna crudo tostada were decadent and delicious! Try them if you haven’t!

One of my to-go-cocktail bars to check! So glad we came and tried it out! Alden & Harlow did a GOOD JOB!!! We love the cocktails and food here. I think this is my #1 cocktails place in Boston now. I tried two girly cocktails - Bee’s Knees & ForgotMySecond drink but it’s YUMMY!!!! For food, we tried eggplant & white bean dip, hickory smoked wing flats & tuna crudo tostada. The eggplant & white bean dip and tuna crudo tostada are on the lighter side. The hickory smoked wing flats are delish with the blue cheese dip and pickled celery. Everything we tried from cocktails to food are two thumbs up, esp the cocktails. Tried to seat at the 2nd level bar area, quieter and better lighting for food and drinks. For parking, they validate University Place Garage for $10. So.... what ya waiting for! Check it out if you hasn’t!

You need to have a state approved ID here (US driver's license, passport), oherwise, they won't serve you drinks.

All food is great, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend the shishito peppers, the deviled eggs, pigs 'n blankets, brussel sprouts, and the alden burger.

Longfellow is this gorgeous bar & restaurant located in the center of Cambridge, Boston. Its located in historical building that dates back to 130 years. The drinks and the food are very exquisite and creatively made. The prices are good!

Fabulously flavorful, fun food. Didn't even have time to take a photo of the waffle fries because they got eaten so fast.... Burger has a whole slew of fixings on it, upgrading the iconic Aiden and Harlow burger from downstairs. Cocktails aren't cheap, but they're well executed. State Trooper makes excellent use of egg whites.

Great selection of cocktails. Server even suggested something to a weird request but turned out being great!!

Are you a woman in Boston looking for a cozy and chill place to get a drink after work? This place is 10/10. The all women bartenders here are happy to make you a drink of your choice. Food is delicious too!

We sat at the counter, which was basically in the kitchen. Cool to watch the different dishes come out. The only down side was that we didn't get checked in on, dishes cleared etc very frequently in this seat. Every cocktail and dish we tried were fantastically flavorful, and the bartender made a great wine recommendation. The upstairs bar looked like a really neat space. Will do a walk in bar seat next visit. The deviled eggs were a favorite.

Good food and great service.

Initially we thought we were eating at Alden & Harlow. Took us 10 mins to figure out. Same chef, similar menu, we liked Longfellow’s menu options better so stayed.

I was surprised that the best pupusa I’ve ever had was in Cambridge at Longfellow’s. The deviled egg was great too.

Had the onion burger 8.0 with gluten free bread. They make the gf bread in house, which is super cool, but it’s in the shape of a slice of bread (not a bun), was a bit dry, and fell apart when eating.

The messy waffle fries were unique and really good. Loved the chili crisp on it.

Service was exceptional. Perhaps the most standout feature at this restaurant. The young girl with the pink hair waited on us. She was new but worked hard able to track down answers to all my questions, which were numerous.

Cool space & nice wines. Best buffalo chicken I’ve ever had - wingbacks, brilliant. Oatmeal Creme Pie is a real treat.

One of my favorite places in the Cambridge/Boston area. It can get very crowded but it is worth checking out. The place looks good, the food and service is great, and the cocktails are amazing! Great place for a night of upscale drinking!

The staff of this restaurant worked closely with me for the last few months in the planning of a secret proposal to my fiancée. It all went so smoothly and near-perfect. All the staff were involved, working really hard behind the scenes, including coordinating and hiding family members on the second floor and behind the back door! It was incredibly sweet to see how invested they were in the surprise. The drinks and service were also excellent. There is a beautiful small balcony area on the second floor which is a lovely place to have drinks while overlooking Brattle/Harvard square.

Absolutely loved this place. Great vibe, amazing drinks, interesting food and cocktail list. I will be back!!

Best bar food menu I have ever had. Be ready to eat with your hands, it will be fine.

A standout choice for cocktail lovers in Cambridge. The upstairs and bar-centric sister of Alden and Harlow, Longfellow Bar has two floors of seating (the upstairs is especially beautiful, and even has a small patio for standing), tasty small plates (if pricey, but consistent for the restaurant group), and a serious cocktail program.

Their featured drinks change seasonally and are creative and beguiling, rewarding the cocktail nerd but also pleasing the more common drinker.
They typically have a cocktail on tap, and seem to always have a clever mezcal drink or two. They also have a section of bartender favorites that are less “out there” but still sport an in-house take. They typically also have some non-alc cocktails. Be warned, the beer is ALL cans here, and pricier than it needs to be.
For food, I often get the burger or fries to share - it’s all good if a little expensive as I said, but I mainly come here for cocktails.
