Bilbo Baggins

My family and I had a great experience dining at Bilbo Baggins for lunch. We were able to talk to one of the owners and learn the history of the location, which has now been in operation 39 years. The food was good, beer selection is great and the ambience and conversation were fantastic. We would definitely come back. Thanks! :-)

The food here is so good and so fresh. The customer service is really good too. Our server Feliciano was so kind and sweet. They have something on the menu for everyone including vegans and vegetarians. And for the food to be as fresh as it is, it’s very inexpensive. I cannot wait to go back again.

Really enjoyed dinner here! The food was delicious - we got the Baked Brie , Porkloin, and Bilbo's Salad and enjoyed all of it. My favorite part was the brie with the mango apricot chutney (which was more like a jam or marmalade?) which was very good. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. It's not quite as Lord of the Rings themed as we'd expected, but there are trivia cards at the tables to play with.

The seating is interesting because the restaurant is split into two areas, a dining area and a bar area, but there is plenty of space, although I probably wouldn't recommend coming here with a particularly large party... The decor is more Irish pub-y (at least where we ate), but the bathroom has the Lord of the Rings trivia board game framed in it. Quaint little place. Would recommend.

We had some of the best food I can remember. The flavors were out of this world. Everything freshly prepared to perfection. Even the made from scratch desserts. Our server knew the menu well and even helped me pair my beer to the food. Extensive beer menu as well.

Bilbo's is always a great spot. It is by far my favorite stop in old town. Food is great, beer selection is amazing. Only negative is the size of the bar area...get there early.

Nice, comfortable and quiet setting. Food was amazing, and the service was friendly...though they could have been a bit more attentive. Overall great place and experience.

Awesome place! I will go everytime I come to town. Old Towne Alexandria is a great place to visit. French onion soup was amazing. Black and Tan beer is the way to go.

The beef filet was SO GOOD!!!! I eat filet relatively often and I've tried so many from upscale prime steakhouses to really good cuts from my local grocery store. My point is, I've had a lot of steak in my day so nothing is usually exciting anymore. Furthermore, I usually have to eat steak with A1 steak sauce. I didn't need steak sauce (they didn't have it) with this steak, it was so good! The mashed potatoes were amazing as well. I don't like spinach, but my mom said it was the best spinach she's ever had! To top it all off, I am a massive lord of the rings fan so of course the big map of middle earth near the fire place was awesome. Love this place, so much character!

Cozy, quaint atmosphere. More importantly, food is delicious! Also, it's Lord of the Rings themed. 10/10 would call my precious again

The beer selection is fantastic! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, it's cozy while still being spacious. The food was great! We had the Asian spring rolls and the vegetarian platter x2. There was so much great food on the vegetarian platter that it could had fed us both! And coincidentally, it was vegan as well as vegetarian but a carnivore wouldn't have noticed. The location was great as there was parking available which is usually hard to find in old town.

They had some of the best pizza with a unique set of toppings I have ever had. The pizza was taken home as leftovers and the crust never got soggy even after being in the fridge for a day or two. The waiter was very attentive and kind. He deserved a big tip for his dedication to our service. Great place for food. 5 stars!!!

New to the area and came here on a whim. Loved the name. Casual, relaxed and warm atmosphere with an excellent craft beer selection. Some things I never heard of! Food was great and service was fast and friendly. Looking forward to making this a regular spot!

In town for a conference and found this little quirky local eatery. Middle of the day it's empty, which for those that dont like crowds, this is perfect! Rustic and true to the fashion of what one would imagine for a Hobbit themed restaurant. Ordered King of Men cider (bourbon) and quiche of the day (crab and spinach). Both brought promptly and are delicious. Server was very nice too.

Excellent experience!! Warm atmosphere, Quaint and Cozy! Food was 'top notch', quality and very tasty. Hot toddy delicious, perfect! The owners/staff, were so kind and personable, very refreshing. We would highly recommend this place, it's a rare gem! We will definitely be back!

This is the cutest hole in the wall restaurant with an eccentric variety of food. Located near the Alexandria Waterfront. All food down to the sauces are made from scratch! And it's all delicious!! Its been a family owned business for over 30 years and you can tell they love doing it. We sat at the bar where we learned our bartender was the owner. She was very down to earth and we had great conversation and service from her. Although this place feels quaint and homey, don't be fooled by its outer appearance-- there is lots of space and even has an upstairs with space to host large groups. The only issue I had with this place was that there were too many choices and everything on the menu sounded so good that it was difficult to not want to try everything!

I enjoy coming here every time!! Not only are there hobbit and Tolkien references, but honestly good food. A lot of it is locally grown, and everything is made and premises. The people who run this place really care about it, and the beer list is amazing. Blond ales, porters, ciders, stouts- and Brewery tastings.- I'm an Eggs Benedict kinda girl, and they cured my hangover with theirs. everything my friends are in town I'll bring them here to eat and then I'll love it

My favorite bar in Old Town. Great selection of craft beers, they rotate the draft list constantly. Great bottle selection as well! What I've had of their food was good (pork chop) but I haven't tried much of the menu.
