Read Mountain Animal Hospital

I visited Read Mountain Animal Hospital for the first time this morning with my pup. I was extremely pleased with the communications I had with the friendly staff days before our appointment. Our visit exceeded my expectations. The staff was wonderful, and Dr. Bruce was extremely knowledgeable and explained things so well to make sure I knew exactly what was going on. You can tell that this staff loves what they are doing! Thank you so much Dr. Bruce and team.

Dr. Bruce has taken care our our Pomeranian since she was 8 weeks old and she is now getting very close to 14 years old. I am so thankful for having Dr. Bruce as Molly’s vet. We would never think of taking her anywhere else. He has given her excellent care and that makes us very happy. Thank you Dr. Bruce..

Very pleased with the attention my dog received. Dr Bruce is very patient and kind with the animals. He answered my questions and addressed my concerns. I highly recommend him and his staff.

I recently changed veterinarians and have had three appointments there so far. Each and every time, we (my animals and I) are greeted warmly by staff, given the time to ask questions and have never had products pushed on us. I appreciate the time Dr. Bruce takes to explain my pet’s development and specific issues.

We adopted Sophie (Sofa Loaf) and Sassy (Sassafras) from Stepping Stones Canine Rescue in Charleston, WV (highly recommended, worth the drive). We were able to get them in to see Dr. Bruce for an initial appointment the day I called. He was kind, caring, compassionate, and answered many of our questions even before we asked. The exams for these ladies were thorough and he answered all of our questions without hesitation. He will not recommend treatment that is not necessary. When I called a few weeks later about Sassy chewing on a pencil and I was worried about the lead, I was assured that unless she was having problems that the lead is actually graphite and clay and just to watch for any problems... no need to come in to been examined unless there was a problem. They are just pups so an annual exam should be sufficient but I will not hesitate to take them in twice a year (or more) when they are older for 'senior' care since I feel comfortable they they are not looking to up-sell on a visit. Jacob is wonderful as the vet tech, Anna remembered who the ladies where when I called with my pencil concerns, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone who wants a vet and vet staff who puts the wellness of the animal (and pet parents) above all else. UPDATE: Third year check up for these ladies. Still so happy with this practice. 12/2020

We have four cats and are so thankful for Read Mountain Animal Hospital. If you are looking for a new vet, I would highly recommend, especially if you live in the Bonsack area.

Dr. Bruce and his staff our a stellar group of professionals who taken care of our pup like he was their own! Great professionalism, courteous staff, and easy to communicate with!

My dog Oscar went here when he was a puppy, we stopped going and went to another Vet that had slightly better hours however when that Vet kept us coming back monthly for extremely expensive tests for a minor problem we decided to come back to Read Mountain Animal Hospital.

The Bruce's are the most friendly and easy to talk to out of any vet that Oscar has ever seen. When we came back to Read Mountain the Dr. Bruce spent 20 minutes checking out Oscar and told us the same problem that the other had us paying $1800 worth of blood tests.

Dr. Bruce takes his time with each person and makes sure you fully understand why the why's and leave his office with a TON of knowledge.

Update: Three years later and still love this veterinary practice. They take such good care of my pets and make sure I understand everything about their health and care needs. They take the time to answer my questions and understand my concerns. Very lucky to have such a wonderful veterinary clinic to go to.

I recently moved to Roanoke and needed a vet for my dogs. Finding Read Mountain Veterinary was a true gift. From a simple thing like a nail trim to an ACL injury, they were wonderful. They take the time to get to know your pet and explain the treatment. I couldn’t be more satisfied or grateful to have found them.

The staff was so friendly! We needed a vet closer to us as our girls are older, and the long drive to the vet was taking its toll on them. Read Mountain worked with us to get them in as quickly as possible. Their check up was performed with great care and love. They made us feel like we had been going to them forever. We are so happy to bring our girls to them for all their kitty needs.

Dr. Bruce and his staff are excellent. I have used several vets throughout the years and highly recommend Read Mountain, and their prices are cheaper than most.😀

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Bruce and his team! They are SO thorough (first vet I’ve ever had give both dogs a complete physical and discuss diet with us!), take their time and do their due diligence. You will never feel like you’re being rushed and they explain EVERYTHING they’re doing, the reasoning behind it and will answer every question and satisfy any concern you have about your fur baby. My dogs are everything to me, so to find a vet practice that really, genuinely cares so deeply about them and their health is so amazing. Their prices are super reasonable, they shoot you totally straight, and I really cannot overstate how much we love the care our girls get from Dr. Bruce, Anna and all of their lovely staff. I whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone looking for an amazing, well-informed vet practice who go above and beyond for their patients!

I'm really glad to have found this vet and feel confident in knowing that my pet will receive great care here for years to come. Dr. Bruce and his staff were helpful, kind, and incredibly thorough in my dog's examination. I did not feel rushed in the appointment and felt comfortable asking lots of questions about my dog and his care. The price for this in-depth exam was very reasonable. Again, the staff were all very kind and helpful. I look forward to continuing to bring my pet here for his health-care needs.

I LOVE this vet clinic❣❣❣They are calm, patient, and explain EVERYTHING! I was a vet technician years ago and I’ve found it extremely hard to find a clinic that treated my furry kiddos how they deserve to be treated. I have a 97 pound dog who well to be frank doesn't like going to the vet. They were patient and took their time trying to get him comfortable being there. Other vet clinics have almost seemed scared of him and he could sense that. They have even been amazing with my kittens. I’ve been beyond impressed with this vet clinic. Dr.Bruce is an excellent Doctor. He has seen and provided two of my fur babies with the best care. He is very thorough when giving his patients an examination. Have been going to Dr. Bruce and vet clinic for about 20 years. He is a very knowledgeable vet, compassionate, and dependable vet. always friendly, answers any and all questions with an explanation . Takes his time and doesn't try to hurry you out of the office. A great surgeon for a pet when and if needed. Staff is friendly...just can not say enough about the excellent service.

This was a seamless, smooth experience. It was perfect from calling that morning for an appointment, getting in that afternoon, the greeting upon arrival and the care and compassion shown to my doggo, to a diagnosis and treatment that was affordable. I have always received this level of service when I take my dogs to see Dr. Bruce. (And I have one pooch who tends to get into mischief and finds herself there a bit more often than the others.
