Mackie's Bar & Grill

Enjoyed the Mackie's ale while seated outside taking in all of the sights and sounds of King Street. Our server was fantastic and we started with the Phoenix wings, which were awesome. A really nice spice and heat and the wings were cooked and sauced really well. I had their dry-aged burger for my entrée and it was delicious. They cooked it well and the toasted roll and sautéed mushrooms and onions were perfect toppings to go along with the aged white cheddar. Several other items on the menu looked and sounded great, so I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to coming back.

Great Bar with a love for good food. Mackie's delivers on quality food and beverages. Cocktails are well crafted, even more so when the St. Patrick's Day crowd calmed down. This is my second time dining, they have great wings, dry-aged burgers, caprese bites, and more. Do yourself a favor and try them out.

I stopped by for a quick drink before dinner elsewhere, but the menu looked really good. I couldn't help but try the loaded fries and shrimp avocado toast. The fries won for overall flavor and filling power. The toast won for health conscious and lightness. The drinks I ordered were simple and stuff: vodka and club soda, and gin and club soda. Cozy place with a great menu I'd like to have more of.

My wife and I planned to get Taco's before we went here. We walked down King street until we saw a lovely signed that said $3 mimosas. We though hard about it and the host of this place came out side greeted us told us the specials and at first I wasn't sure I was longing for Taco's but the mimosas and friendliness of the host really grabbed me, so I said why not?... well this was a great why not. The mimosas made with fresh squeezed orange juice, awesomeness, the fried chicken was great, flavorful and moist, the dry-aged burger, more compliments. And Dessert the picture speaks for itself. Highly recommend.

Bistro Steak was the perfect size to walk off. The mint lemonade is the best thing I've drank in a long time. Vanessa was cool and super helpful to an out-of-towner.

Nice relaxed independent steakhouse and bar in Old Town Alexandria. A fun laid-back bar for lunch and happy hour, and a more formal (but still not stuffy) dining area. Eclectic crowd, definitely a local favorite in the middle of town. Good quality steaks are offered here, with some options for pasta, chicken, etc. Burger is quite good here and an interesting Korean inspired Bulgogi Hoagie. Good wine options and a decent beer selection. Friendly staff and visible owners. I'll be back.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Steaks are solid 4.5 stars. Everything else, 5 stars. An average meal will run you about 40-50/pp with drinks

First time here. Had the Phoenix wings, cooked to crispy perfection. Great flavor and a super kick...BEWARE if you can't handle heat. It was Monday and they had half off of their dry aged burger, perfect time to try if it's your first time. Burger was solid, not too flavorful, but not bad either...it was IN THE GROOVE. Bartender (CHARLES) made great drinks and was attentive, there were a few Regulars there but he didn't leave me hanging. This will definitely be one of my new weekly spots.

We had a lovely dinner with great food and service. Our server was wonderful and his love for his craft made our dinner that much more enjoyable. The other staff we interacted with also seemed to love working at Mackie’s. These interactions made this an especially memorable dinner.

Stopped in to have a beer while walking through old town. The place has a Green Bay Packer flag hanging out front. Was a great crowed of people in the bar. The bar tender was great, even though the place was very busy he was right on it with all the guests. We had some appetizers with our beers. The food was well prepared and very hot upon delivery. Server was always smiling. Really believed the staff was there enjoying there jobs. Great to see there are still small bars around, and people who enjoy working there.

I loved this place! My wife and I stopped by for lunch and had good food and beer at the bar. We met Sang the owner and told him we loved his place so much we would be back for dinner, beer and their live music. It's probably the most friendliest bar/restaurant I've ever been to.. period. We loved the food, best hamburgers ever. We had the best bartender funny great personality and he even made me a drink on the fly that was so tasty that I asked for the recipe. Great place with a casual atmosphere. Usually the bathrooms are not mentioned in a review, however this was the best ladies room I have ever been in in the Longest time. Warm towels all the necessities and high end soaps and lotions. Highly recommend for a casual night out for drinks and dinner.

Gonna keep this simple - great bar and grill! The buffalo wings were EXCELLENT! Sauce had a nice kick, wings were big, and most important CRISPY! (I HAAAAAATE smooshy wings!!) The shaved ribeye steak sandwiches were tasty! (Loved the Bugagi!!) Drink selection is excellent! Service was friendly and attentive! Would easily go again!

They have the best social distancing carry out deal - two steaks (with mashed potatoes and spinach) and a bottle of wine for $70. I had my doubts about carry out steak but it was fantastic! And I normally don't care about mashed potatoes but these were amazing. They also left us a very nice note, which I appreciated in these strange times. I'll definitely go back!

Service was excellent.
Steak was prepared to temp perfectly.
Good size portions.
Highly recommend the Mackie's Shrimp (bacon wrapped) and the lobster fettuccine. I think there was a whole lobster worth of meat in the pasta. We will be back again!

Great experience. Good prompt service. If you normally request a medium Burger I recommend medium rare. The burger was slightly overcooked from when I got it but it was still delicious. Good selection of beer and a nice comfy atmosphere. Go here, if you haven't you're wrong.

Best hometown bar ever! I'm from Missouri and was visiting Alexandria for a conference. Saw this bar and it felt like "home". Anyone and everyone will fit in here. Owners are awesome! Great wings and cold beer 🍺. And if you're not up for an adult drink, they make a mean Shirley Temple! 😉. Families welcome here! Enjoy! Cheers love! 🍻

The burgers and the service earned this place 5 stars in my book. James was friendly and helpful. The burgers really hit the spot.

It was Sunday night and King Street seemed pretty empty. As we walked around looking for burgers, James invited us in for a pint. Though we declined, we mentioned our burger search. His friendliness and his claim of having one of the best burgers in town led us in. We were shown back to a separate, quiet dining area . We ordered for carry out and enjoyed the atmosphere while we waited for our food. Great service and food. What more could you want.

We have lived locally for years but this was our first time at Mackie’s. My dad was visiting from out of town and since he loves steak, we researched and concluded that Mackie’s was highly rated and worth a try. Don’t let the laid back sports bar vibe fool you, their food and service is top notch. Eric was our server and could not have been more knowledgeable and attentive. The dry-aged burger that I had was glorious and of course the steak was up to par. If you are looking for a quality steakhouse that’s easy to get too and not overpriced, Mackie’s is a must. :)
