The Light Horse Restaurant and Bar

Excellent restaurant. I just happened to wonder by and decided to go in for dinner. It was great and everyone in my party thought so too. The waiter was right on top of things and dinner came quickly. The restroom was clean. I would definitely go back.

I LOVE this spot. Over the years it has evolved for the better and better. Downstairs is a fine dining modern experience and upstairs more dive bar live music vibe. Music is good, service is EXEMPLARY, cocktails are good but I’m open to seeing an updated cocktail menu. Food is always hot and fresh off the grill, love their food perfect mix of flavor and healthy ingredients. I usually eat/drink too fast that I forget to take pictures but finally got one today of their salmon dinner. Fantastic experience every time I come here, I’m tempted to say this is my favorite spot in Old Town, at least top 3 for sure! Jules provided excellent customer service on our most recent visit for restaurant week. Thanks to John and Cory for excellent bar service as always and cannot wait to come back, for the 100th time I’m sure.

Tried out the Light Horse for a late brunch. I love that they serve brunch until 4pm, it’s pretty hard to find a spot like after 2pm with brunch. The only downside was there was really no brunch drinks or mimosa specials. Service was quick and efficient. We tried the Elote Hushpuppies, they were delicious and unique. The chicken and waffle portions were generous and the maple sriracha was a great add on.

We visited The Light Horse while in Arlington for a conference. We found it by searching for great places to eat with good ratings and not part of a fast food chain. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was relaxed. The burger and sweet potato fries were served hot and fresh. The dry rub chicken wings and bacon wrapped dates were also a hit. Highly recommended!

Recently moved from the DC area to Alexandria and was looking for a place to watch the NCAA tournament. Stopped by here and had a great time. Bar is large and found seats quickly. Service and food were good and prices were reasonable. Will for sure be coming back.

This place has great food and great music. It's always a blast to go dancing here. Downstairs is very chill and quiet for dates and conversation with friends. Then once you are adequately full of food and drink, make your way upstairs and get down with your bad self on the dance floor.

A nice place for a light lunch in old town Alexandria. The restaurant is clean, the staff both professional and attentive, and the food was fresh and tasty.

My friends and I came here for restaurant week and had a great experience! The restaurant week menu was shot! I started with the margarita bruschetta. Definitely well flavored and crushed it. Next I got the grilled flank steak and it was made to order. Brussel sprouts were also a hit! Last I had the brownie sundae! It was good but I wish it was warmed up. I didn’t ask though so can’t hold that against them. The service was great! We sat at the bar and got great service. I love the placements you get when you order food from the bar. I forget what drink I got but I was satisfied with that as well.
I would definitely visit here again. Parking is like street parking. There was a steady flow of people so we were happy to grab seats at the bar. I think seating here is first done first serve so it can work in your favor or against you.

AMAZING! My boyfriend and I are new to the area and we stopped in here to eat, basically just picked something walking along King St. We came into The Light Horse and it happen to be the last day of their restaurant week. My boyfriend and I were AMAZED! Not only was every course five stars, our server, Justin was extremely accommodating and attentive. Highly recommend this gem, we will be back!

First time at this great restaurant/bar in Old Town Alexandria and we loved it. Bartenders were really nice and mixed some great cocktails.
Our server, Flavia was just perfect. She recommended the broccolini to my wife and she loved it. I had the chicken wings which were very tender and the buffalo sauce was nice.
We are returning this week to give some other menu items a try.

Pleasant surprise! I came here while waiting for our escape room to begin and it happened to be happy hour. The food was pretty good and the music was on point. We ordered the crab dip and the nachos without the pork. Our bartender/waiter John was great...very kind and personable. I definitely plan on returning.

Slow service. Took about 15-20 to order in a relatively slow afternoon. Hostess was super friendly and checked up on me a couple of times. Bartender even noticed and came over to check on me.

The food was delicious, tho.

Met a friend here for Thirsty Thursday happy hour. Service was top notch. The bartender and bartenderess offered plenty of suggestions for drinks and apps. The crab dip did not disappoint. I also happened to try my first ever old fashioned from the fancy menu section. The ice cube has orange in it. We also had two beers (left hand milk stout) to hold us over until the next spot. Guinness-like. Very smooth. Very nice. Great spot. Not crowded either.

We really loved the food. We had the warm brie with fig jam. Yummy I had the ribeye, mash potatoes and butternut squash. It was absolutely delicious 😋 Can't wait to go back again!!

Veggie platter delicious. It's all about the spices!. Per request, served two sides on entree plate. Add the NA beer FTW. Friendly helpful bartenders.

We had a great dinner here with friends the other night. The first floor dining area and bar was lovely. Great atmosphere. The food and cocktails were delicious. The menu isn't huge but it's easy to find something to please everyone. Great service. We will be back next time we're in town.

Hot and tired, a friend and I noticed that the The Light Horse is now open for lunch during the week. I had read about their grilled four-cheese sandwich years ago and now finally got to try it. With sweet potato fries, it didn't disappoint. My friend and I had the sandwich and vegetable gnocchi, which the kitchen was nice enough to split into two portions to share. Best of all was our server, Gabrielle, who made us feel like old friend even though it was our first time there.

Great food! Yummy drinks. Duncan the manager was awesome. Wonderful hospitality

What a happy surprise! We stumbled into this place because we didn't know they had a happy hour and just happened to be passing by.

Probably one of the better happy hours on King Street. Drink variety, food choices and quality (not your typical hh food slipped on baguette), and prices were fair.

Bar staff was friendly, super helpful, and added to the experience. Location is much larger then it appears from the outside. Decor is modern, but rustic.

Will defiantly be returning asap. Oh and just for sh*ts and giggles or check comes in a cheesy romance novel, nice touch.

We really enjoyed this place. They had a great band. Service was good. Nice historic looking place. Food was great. I would definitely recommend this place.
