Augie's Mussel House and Beer Garden

Excellent spot to enjoy the weather, listen to live music, and eat excellent food. They have a pretty nice happy hour, too. The sangria is $2 off during happy hour and it was delicious. It was very busy but our sever was attentive.

Enjoyed an afternoon in Old Town and stopped here on a whim after reviewing the menu outside. I am SO glad I did - I saw buffalo shrimp on the menu!

My companion and I sat outside at the bar and it was very windy. The heat lamps were appreciated and we didn’t notice the cool weather at all.

My buffalo shrimp was simply sensational!!! I also had a grilled cheese and Cesar salad. My companion had a burger.

Absolutely will be coming back.

This place is just fun to hang out at.

The food is always good as is the selection of beers and ciders.
The service here is also exceptional.

Wife and I probably stop by once...maybe twice a month to watch a game and have a sando and a couple for drinks

Would it be wrong to say the best dish to eat is the lamb pie at a mussel bar? Talk about a real foodie find. The mussels were freakin' delicious and plump. Pairs perfectly with lamb pie..... and this lamb pie has actual lamb flavor and not some hairy cow dressed up like a lamb.

The beers on menu are equally fantastic. There should be as many mussel bars like Augie's like there are bubbletea cafe's. The dancing staff is also the perfect distraction to the waiting times too. The burger is great too but honestly.... it's called Augie's Mussel House, not burger house..... so stick with the mussels and lamb pie and you won't go wrong.

And for those visiting, the bathrooms are very clean for a bar restaurant.

We went here late on this past Saturday night. Our waiter made sure everything was done to our perfection. Gave us no issues about our service dogs. Food was good and the drinks were awesome. Hats off to the bartender!

We had the best dining experience at St. Auggies by far during my vacation.

Katia, our amazing server, went out of her way when taking our order. Even though they were packed, she took the time to greet us, answered all our questions about the food and made amazing recommendations. Everything came in a timely fashion and she checked-in on us often.

The food was perfect- no one had anything bad to say about it.

I highly recommend the signature mussels and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The atmosphere is amazing and the terrace is lovely.

This place is legitimately the jewel of Alexandria. If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere, great food and excellent service, give this place a go.

Last night we sat at the upstairs bar, Lonna was our bartender. She did a fantastic job and was very attentive. Upstairs got rather busy during the dinner rush and she handled it great! She was also very nice and we loved getting to have a conversation with her once the dinner rush had passed!

Great mussel selection, good cocktails and beer list, and helpful friendly service. A wide variety of seafood options on the menu. A bit expensive (especially considering how much mussels actually cost) but hey this is Old Town. The pretzels are especially delicious! Next time we will sit outside- the beer garden is dog friendly and looks lovely!

There were so many great things about this place! DJ was our server and he was one of the most professional, friendly, on top of his game servers I've ever had the pleasure of sitting with. The wings are good, but just a heads up, they are breaded and fried and not your typical wings. We got it with the classic buffalo sauce and the Diablo sauce, but watch out because that Diablo sauce is HOT! 🔥🥵 For the mussels we got green curry (my favorite), classic (delicious), peach rosé (not that flavorful), and the Italian (full of flavor and a good serving of ground sausage within). For cocktails we got the "Peace Yo" and "You Da Pom", both were bright and perfect for sitting outdoors. Speaking of, we were really glad to be sitting outside by the street because the inside and the biergarden areas were both uncomfortably loud. Come early if you want to get a place to sit without waiting a long time. Kid and dog friendly.

Awesome selection of mussels (classic and unique styles), nice draft/cocktails/wine menu, attentive service, and wonderful outdoor patio.

We came with friends to enjoy a dinner on their heated, outdoor patio. It was about low 40s and they had multiple overhead heaters on; we all had hats and thick jackets and were generally warm, though I highly recommend bringing a blanket or dressing very warmly if it’s anything below 50. The heaters are warm, but only do so much as the area is entirely exposed.

Food: I had the French onion soup for appetizer, which was warm, perfectly sized, and delicious. I enjoyed the Spicy Grapefruit mussels for dinner; while the grapefruit wasn’t apparent, they tasted delicious and had great spice to them! All of the mussels were edible and not a single tasted grainy or rubbery. They obviously know how to cook mussels and cook them well, and have a great supplier!
Friends had the pretzels, hot chicken tenders, hot chicken sandwich, and the curry mussels. The curry was delicious and perfectly seasoned. I’m not a fan of hot/spicy chicken, so I didn’t get a chance to try it but my friends said it was great!

Drinks: we split some bottles of wine and others had some beers. The menus are pretty good with plenty of options for both. There was also a good selection of cocktails, but we didn’t have any.

Service: service was great! We were checked on often without it feeling overbearing. When we requested a few additional things with the meal, they were quick to bring them out to us. The food runners were a bit reluctant to help but it wasn’t an issue and I’m sure they were busy.

Ambiance: the inside has a great bar area and plenty of seating. The outdoor patio is year round and just as awesome, with a bar and a picnic table style seating area as well.

Overall, recommend for the great mussels! Maybe a bit overpriced but it’s Alexandria and the food was worth the cost.

I absolutely loved the vibe of this place, particularly their patio. It's the perfect spot for a casual and cozy night out. The service was also exceptional - they were prompt and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

As for the food, I ordered the steak and frites, which were cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the delicious sauces that came with the fries. I also tried the 'Yes I Am Basic' cocktail, which was incredibly tasty and hit the spot.

Overall, I highly recommend Augie's Mussel House for anyone looking for a great dining experience in Old Town. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, the service is on point, and the food and drinks are top-notch.

Great place to grab a drink and something to eat. If you’re not into mussels, don’t let the name throw you off - the menu has plenty of options beyond mussels.

We sat at the bar and had excellent service from multiple staff members and enjoyed great regional beers and food.

I have been here in the past a couple times to have a drink outside! So nice out there. I really love the ambiance and location. Drinks are good and food is AMAZING, the tuna tartare and pretzels, wow. Very hard to make something so simple be so delicious! Table service was truly on point. Our server checked on us frequently and never let our water glass go empty. I need to start coming back here more often, totally underrated. Thank you for excellent customer service and really well made bites.

My husband and I loved this bar! We stopped in for a quick bite and we really enjoyed it. We shared their platter and had a glass of wine. The food is so good here! Way better than either of us expected! The restaurant is clean and there’s plenty of seating. The bathrooms are also very clean which is also a plus. I am definitely interested in coming back for brunch or dinner! All the staff were great, especially our bartender, Tony!

I love Augie’s! When I first moved to NOVA, before eventually moving away for work; I spent hours wandering Old Town Alexandria, in search of great spots to watch baseball then football as fall came on, that had good food and great drinks.

I stumbled on Augie’s and the rest is history. Great pints from local breweries, great cocktails, and great food. You can’t beat a better place for an open air beer garden atmosphere that has a friendlier vibe in old town.

Their restrooms are clean and unisex, and they have a roof seating area that is open seasonally, but, as I now understand it, has trivia every Wednesday night! We will be there.

Ordered takeout here and was very impressed with the food quality. It is extremely rare to find a salmon dinner this size at just over $20. I typically don’t order salmon because it’s pretty easy to make at home but this was super tasty and cooked perfectly. Medium well, tender on the inside, crispy on the outside. All of the sides we ordered were also decent sized portions and tasted really good. I tend to set a pretty low bar these days for takeout orders and don’t often review them because they’re usually disappointing but this place was definitely worth talking about. Looking forward to visiting in person some time soon.

The staff was over the top ! The food was amazing ! I had the pasta Jambalaya and my wife had the Rose' Mussels. The food made my pallet dance like it hasn't in a long time. Thank you guys for your amazing service, you truly made us feel at home. With much respect from Oregon.

This spot was delicious. I started with the “Equal Marriage” wheat beer which was light and delicious despite the dark color. We also have the beer cheese and pretzels which were good. My husband had the Turnt Grapefruit which was tart and delicious. A perfect, not sweet drink. Then I saw the Butterfly Kisses and was thrilled to try something made with Butterfly Pea Tea. It was lightly sweet and very good. For dinner my husband had the 10-Day Cured & Smoked Brisket Sandwich. Highly recommend. I had the Rose Mussels. I was curious about peaches in my mussels but it worked so well. I would definitely come back. I also loved the outdoor space and even though our waiter was a bit busy, he was very good.

My first time trying Mussels, probably the right place to have 'em here for that reason. The preparation was fresh and tasty. Also the stout beer is quite good! Nice ambience overall.
