Old Town Books

My dog and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed, but staff was still fabulous. For such a small space, they fit a great selection of new releases, and even gorgeous editions of Penguin classics. I'd probably have stayed and ended up buying more than just one book had it not been so busy - I *love* bookshops like this one and my dog very much appreciated how welcome she was made to feel as well. :)

Cute bookshop with well read staff. The staff recommended a book that might have been my favorite book of the year! Big selection and tons of cute niche items for gift options. I loved it!

Friendly atmosphere and a nice selection. I stopped by after seeing one of the signs on the sidewalk pointing towards it. I found a book that looked interesting so I asked the woman at the counter if she knew anything about it. She went and got the other clerk that enjoyed that genre and she came over and told me about the book, the series it was a part of, and the author’s other works. I appreciated the help and the information. I wound up buying two books here. The front of the store seems to be more recent releases. There’s a second section that contains mostly non-fiction works like history and personal growth and then there’s a big kids section in the back.

Super cute bookstore with so many book options, love the layout inside the store! Some books even have written comments underneath I’d assume by workers on why they liked the book and I ended up choosing one of my from the comments. All the workers were really nice and they’ll even order in a book for you if they don’t have it! The worker told me about this option unfortunately I’m from Orlando so I couldn’t do this option but good info to know!

went there yesterday to browse while I was waiting for my brother to pick me up and I had a great experience! The bookstore was small and nicely organized with a few more cute products besides books. I loved the set up (and the smell) of the bookstore. The staff was awesome and I was there for a little less than an hour and nobody really said anything. Sadly, I couldn't buy anything then but I can't wait to stop by when I need to buy a book! Really recommend it! Also the bookstore has these different book clubs and that's so fun?!

Old Town Books makes excellent use of their small storefront with an efficient layout. Starts getting cramped about twelve customers in. You’re greeted by their grand selection of recent fiction upon entering. Older, acclaimed picks are found on a larger shelf left of the entrance. Definitely an emphasis on fiction novels here. Their nonfiction selection - biographies, political affairs, psychology, etc. - is primarily consolidated in a petite nook towards the back of the store.

Absolutely loved this shop. Pretty decent selection, but the shop itself was adorable. Love the staff suggestions as well.

In addition to books that sold a pretty good variety of puzzles and knick knacks.

One of the best local book stores I've ever visited with great workers! They were so accommodating when my friend and I came in with our suitcases and remembered us when we came back a few days later! Hoping to visit again soon

This little book shop was adorable! The staff were helpful, friendly, and funny. The store is well organized and clean. They have a lot of great titles, and a lot of great bookish items. I will visit this place every time I am in town 🙂

A little neighborhood book shop with a nice collection. The best part is the staff, they have a wonderful insight on their inventory and are so generous with their time in helping find you a perfect title.

Cute shop and wonderful help. My sister and I love to purchase souvenir books by a local author and/or local setting. Received the best help and purchased a book by a local author who works in the bookstore! She signed my copy as well! Thanks for the wonderful help, Rachel!

A charming and cute book shop with a nice collection. And if you are looking for something particular that you can’t find— they are happy to order it.

This is a lovely small independent bookstore. While it does not have the selection a large national chain will have it does have a wide selection and the staff is truly helpful and knowledgeable. It is a wonderful addition to the shops of Old Town Alexandria.

Such an atmospheric little bookstore. The prices might be a little high, but we need to support our local bookstores. This is such a cute store, with very nice staff. :)

Happened upon this little gem in old town and was pleasantly surprised to find diversity front and center and throughout the store. Staff was friendly and courteous.

What could be better? A quaint, well-cultivated bookshop in historic Old Town Alexandria, steps from the water. To quote my husband, “The only thing it needs is a cat.” However, we have seen many a dog there.

It can get crowded at times, which isn’t the ideal atmosphere for a bookstore; but it’s a testament to the great location and equally great selection. Check out their book club selections too! I’ve found several good books based on their picks.

You need this cute, pleasant independent bookstore in your life. You WILL find something cool every time you walk inside. Get a capcake or something and then take a stroll here with your sweetie.
