I go to church with Dr. Jen Key so I’m biased in one way. It's funny to like getting a root canal, but I liked being there with her and her staff.

Objectively I can tell Dr. Key and her staff are confident in the process there and the success rate. I have two business master degrees so I evaluate any system in terms of process and outcome. Yes, with endodontics the human factor is MAJOR and Dr. Key and her staff care about you. You want an endodontist who is super comfortable with those tiny root canal files and that’s what Dr. Key was born to do. It is serious when a person starts getting not only root damage but also jaw bone infection like where I was last week.

I was relieved my very valuable rear molar was saved and my crown was saved too. Don’t wait to get a root canal and go to Dr. Key because you want a vital procedure like this to go off without a hitch. Bumps on your gum by your roots are a sure sign of root damage with tooth pain are sure signs. Make sure your dentist does an Xray and follows through to make sure whether or not you need to go to an endodontist or not. My dentist didn’t get the diagnosis right at first. Canker sores are usually on the inside of my cheeks so the symptoms of root disease are different.

Her staff are excellent. Connie at Dr. Key’s office is great because she helps people understand the basics. Connie told me I would be taken care of and I believed Connie, because she is a good, believable person… and because she works for an excellent, good endodontist who is also a very, very good person as well.

I get that good vibe from the entire team there. Healthcare environments where people seem unhappy and there isn’t a good patient focus should be avoided. You want healthcare teams with great ratings and everyone feels good about the process and the care outcomes. The price for a root canal with Dr. Key is right in there with the average, but the outcome is way above average. Just average root canal outcome performance is not what you want. You want your tooth dealt with… properly… the first time.

There’s no point in trying to save a little money. Just go to Dr. Key.

So it was my first time getting a root canal and I was pretty terrified. My experience here was amazing. Such a friendly atmosphere. Dr. Key was so gentle and her assistant helping her with me was so sweet, checking up making sure I was okay. When they told me they were done I was a little but surprised. I felt absolutely nothing!! They were the best. I would recommend her 1000 times again. Wonderful experience :)

I was incredibly lucky to get in with a next day appt due to a cancellation in Dec. Dr Key and her staff were very accommodating, courteous and professional. Dr Key performed a double root canal and I had no pain aside from the brief sting from shots of Novocaine. Cynthia at the front desk was very helpful in handling payment and filing insurance. No problems whatsoever.

How does an endodontist make your experience pleasant? She offers up a lively, albeit one sided, conversation that makes the time fly. My dreaded root canal was a walk in the park with Dr Key. Convenient parking, attractive office space and friendly accommodating staff made by visit pleasant.

Today was my second visit to Dr. Key. She and her assistant could not have been better and, once again, provided a completely pain-free experience. I cannot imagine there is a better endodontic practice anywhere. Strongly recommended.

I had put off getting 2 root canals for almost 20 years because of fear. My experience here though, was downright pleasant! Definitely not cheap, but I felt like I got what I paid for. I have other work that needs done in the future, and I definitely would go back here.

No pain at all! I am gobsmacked that I have had no pain since my root canal with Dr. Key. I’ve had a few in my day but none that went this well. Highly recommend her!

Just great. They took care of me. Was hiking the Appalachian Trail and needed emergency dental surgery. They got me in as soon as possible and I was back on the trail the same day.

Great dentist with arcane business practices. The office requires you to physically go to them to sign a release form to request your own records instead of allowing you to process it over email or a secure patient portal (like every other doctor I've had in the last 10 years). They also won't allow another dentist to provide a release form signed by me that clears them to release my records to another dentist. The timing for me needing my records was such that I wasn't able to drive to Asheville (I don't live in town) by the time my new dentist needed the records. The receptionist said I caused this situation myself for waiting until it didn't work with my schedule. When I asked to speak to Dr. Key about it, I was told she had already confirmed the process had not changed, but she was in a meeting and could not talk to me. I try to only present the facts and leave my opinions out of it when I write a review, but to blame the customer for challenges caused by an office's arcane business practice seems like bad customer service to me. Great dentist, though. Just make sure to sign a blanket release form while you're there.

My procedure was great. It's the billing I have trouble with. And it seems that part of the clinic feels this is the only bill I have to sort out and try to pay and it's not. I also have to pay my actual dentist, primary care, and 2 specialists when I can each month. Believe me Collections would be easier.

I never leave reviews but this one had to be done.. Dr Key herself is great. Gentle and explains what she is doing. Their administrative staff is very rude. Ive been seen by them twice. My dentist made referral and called me saying I was dismissed as a patient from Dr Key. My dentist said it was due to rescheduling an appt a couple times DURING COVID. Mind you I did not no show. I called the office and rescheduled in advanced which was confirmed by the office, but 2 day notice is not enough. They also hold rescheduled over 5 years ago against you. 1 reschedule was 2015 another in 2017. Never got a dismissal letter or call stating this. 2nd root canal, paid upfront. They filed my primary insurance. I get a bill 8 months later without my secondary filed. Said they wouldn't file it for me, I had to do it myself. I do. I get a call stating I was going to be sent to collections if I didn't pay my bill. I let them know I talked to someone in their office about filing secondary insurance and a check was coming to them. I offered to make a payment until they got insurance check. Was turned down rudely, initially because they would not accept any payment except in full. They finally agreed to let me paid half. Got another call threatening collections. I offered to send insurance info to them showing proof of payment and was turned down. I paid remaining bill. Couple days later they got their insurance payment and refunded me the $. They have very strange office practices.

After my root canal I revisited the office still having pain, I was told the tooth next to the one worked on had a big hole in it. After visiting my primary Dentist I was told part of my crown was missing. I had visited my Dentist about a week before, I am sure he would have noticed the crown.

Doctor Key was awesome and the other staff were amazing but the front desk receptionist was extremely rude to talk to in person and on the phone.

Dr Key was the first name on the referral list my regular dentist gave me for a root canal. When I called to set up an evaluation and schedule the root canal the woman Connie who answered the phone was rude, and condescending. When I tried explaining I was already in discomfort and can we make the appointments now for the consultation and the root canal following, since it is already a month out. I was simple told that is not way they do things. There was no understanding or working with the specific situation and I was quickly told I wasn’t a good “fit” for their practice. Obviously, with a 2-3 week wait to get in they are not too worried about acquiring a new patient. I am sure Dr. Key is excellent, it is too bad that Connie the gatekeeper is rude and impossible to work with.
