I love their clay. I was in Asheville on vacation and stopped by their outlet. They were so helpful. I went in for one kind of clay but after talking to their materials buyer, bought something different. He was so helpful in helping me find the right clay for my needs and helping me with some problem solving. He's a potter himself so he knows not only the clay ingredients and characteristics but also the practical artist side. Going there to buy clay was a master class for me. Don't be afraid to ask questions. All this learning started with a simple question.

They carry anything you could need for a ceramics studio. Very knowledgable about products, clay bodies and tools. Super polite, helpful and super clean space. Service was super fast, and pick up at the loading dock for big/heavy things is a breeze, and they guy who loads it is extra polite!

Prices might be a little high for certain things but there is a wide variety of tools up for selection. They offer many different clays and are well knowledgeable in the differences so they can help guide you in the right direction. They are always so respectful and overall a great well rounded business that deserves the business and clientele it has. They will even load the clay for you in the car which is a blessing because those boxes of clay are a heavy 50 pounds. Shop here for all your pottery needs!

Highwater clay has amazing clays and the best customer service. Both times I have been in Terry helped me, she is the nicest person, very knowledgeable and super helpful. They were out of some things like everywhere right now, thanks to Covid. We found plenty of things to buy still. I was lucky enough to pick up a new Kiln while there, I’m so glad I did because they are 20 weeks out everywhere. The kiln tech(can’t remember his name) answered lots of questions for my husband and was very helpful. I’m a customer for life after the great experiences I have had.

I have ordered small amounts that were shipped to me back when I first started, I have picked up larger amounts of clay in person, and just recently had a large amount shipped to me (I'm about 8 hours away, so making that drive isn't always possible), and I have had great experiences during all of these variables, and have tried many different blends of clays from them, and never had any issues, but have committed, and have a love for P5 porcelain. It's the best mid range porcelain that I've tried, and have used many thousands of pounds of it over the years. Their staff has always been helpful, and done their best to make things, including third party shipping as easy and seamless as possible. If you have the need for great clay or ceramic supply, with a great staff of employees, don't hesitate on Highwater.

They are very helpful. I got a good clay for modeling, 25lb bags minimum. And there are plenty of tools made for professional potters as well as a bookshop for everything you want to learn.

Great stoneware choices. All sizes. If you're ready to make kraut same as Grandma go no further because they have what you need at reasonable prices and it's independently owned, besides. Good experience.

We have used Highwater clays for many years now in Asheville just of hey 19/23 Easy to access and obtain product small or big. We have a small concrete company they have been able to provide products that vary from concrete but are just as wonderful. We have also purchased tools from tiny sculpting to large rake type. We have had no problem with any purchases everything works as per instructions. Personal are all friendly always helpful and will help you get your project in the right direction

If you need clay, or tools, or glazes, or pretty much anything else ceramics related, this is where you should be. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff will take the time to help you know what you need, and find it. Awesome place.

I work for a local art store in central VA and we were having trouble getting the clay we needed for a local college. Even though highwater is currently going through a shortage of clay, Deborah was able to help me get the clay we needed for our students not only quickly but she was also amazingly kind and helpful. We couldn't have gotten it done without her!
