City Drive-In

A real homey and warm atmosphere. You could either sit outside by a fire or indoors. It was to cold, so we sat inside. I noticed the bar had several local brews on tap. My wife had the Philly Cheese Chicken Sandwich with Hushpuppies and I had the Fish and Chips. The fish was fried perfectly, and the home fries were incredible. I was able to have some of my wife's Hushpuppies. They were incredible. We are definitely going back. They also have live music nights that we are interested in as well. I need to go back to sample the beer.

If you are coming through or near Spruce Pine, you need to stop. Great food fairly priced. Enjoy!

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid & even though I’ve since left the area, I always find myself coming back “home” for a cheeseburger all the way and a peanut butter milkshake! Also, the chuckwagon sandwich is an underrated gem. 10/10 would recommend!

Great bbq with lots of flavor that didn’t even need sauce. Catfish and short ribs were excellent. Loved the sweet potato fries and the home fries. There are specials every night with good value. We like the home town feel of City Drive-in and the old-timey “drive-in” is pretty cool.

City Drive-in has the very best of the classic cook out burgers. We decided to take the hour and a half drive to Spruce Pines just because when you want a city Drive-in burger there is no substitute. The Chuckwagon is a go-to, but I highly recommend the Mushroom Swiss burger.

***Pro tip....after eating walk around a couple of the nearby antique shops and work off a little of your lunch/dinner then swing back by for a peanut butter milkshake 👌🏻

Absolutely awesome place to stop for lunch. Recommended to us be one of the nearby residents. Started out life as just a drive-in, but has recently expanded to include a small bar/inside seating area. Food was excellent and service was really good too. One of the odd aspects of the setup is that the waitstaff have to go outside to the other building to put in orders and pick up food. The building is not the most well-insulated, because even in April it was pretty chilly. But between a wood stove and other heaters, it was warm enough. Just a very cool, unique place to eat. Will worth the trip.

I worked there for a long time when I was younger. I just revisited for the first time in probably 12 years. Different people with a little bit different food, but overall I was very pleased with both the service and the food. Lots of great memories here also. Highly recommend this place.

My wife and I loved this place! The food was great, the dogs on the patio were awesome, and we came on a fantastic night with live music. We've traveled everywhere, and it's off the beaten places like this that we always remember most.

Great experience,wished they had offered desert. Waitress was more interested in getting us out.

This place is awesome. The woman who served us was great, she was enthusiastic, welcoming and extremely helpful all very rare traits in todays world. The food was great as well, this place suprised us every step of the way. It really shows that the owners care alot about their business and clientele. I wish more places opperated like this with a more welcoming feel. You could tell the people who worked here were positive and happy, that makes it a great experience so thank you!!!

They even have a covered parking area which was great for us on motorcycles to get out of the sun.

10/10 everything was great. Service was exceptional. Reasonably priced. Do not come to Spruce Pine without getting a burger and beer at this place.

I recently came here for the first time. I ordered the bbq, jalapeño poppers, and onion rings, all of which were the delicious and I will certainly be ordering again. Just typing this is making me crave going back there.

Looks to be a family run outfit. Mom and daughters cooking over the grill and fryer I'd guess. Got a hamburger and homemade potato bite things and both were great. Took out since dining is only outside and it was somewhat hot. But they do have an eat in space. Not a whole lot of places here to eat lunch and dinner other than taco hell and Mickey D so give these local people your money instead...I always try to find local eats where I can.

This was our first trip to City Drive-In. The atmosphere in the sit down portion of the restaurant is really cool. The staff was great and was very efficient and eager to assist us. Our food was served piping hot and fresh. We will be going back for sure.

We like to eat on Thursday when wings are 0.70 cents. So many different wings to choose from and they bring them out fresh! There are so many different things to choose from even if you are not a wing person. Great food and friendly staff.
