Their chicken is always flavorful and breaded so nicely. We often get their calzones and a side salad (the veggies are always so fresh!). Staff is always friendly as well.

Delicious and affordable. Their specialty pizzas are out of this world (ALL OF THEM). Very unique flavors and always cooked to perfection. I also recommend trying of of their gyros. The pita is always fresh and they pack the meat in!

Although the place isn't super nice on the inside it's not bad. Customer service is excellent and the food is even better, delivery is pretty quick and the prices are very fair. Parking can be a problem if you're going to sit down to eat. It's very kid friendly and there's a park right across the street

I love this place! Delicious pizza! The dough is made fresh daily and you can tell the friendly staff put their hearts into it. I've enjoyed pizza from NYC to NJ and beyond. The Checkmate Cafe can compete with the best of them. And they offer a variety of other meals. Checkmate!

I still haven't gotten around to trying their pizza, but this place definitely earns 5 stars for their subs alone. Quality ingredients, not to mention generous portions- the large subs can definitely feed two people. Friendly service as well.

This place rules. Get the Greco fries and you’ll thank yourself. The staff is really nice too, good neighborhood vibe.

Came here on a whim and tried pizza by the slice, the Buffalo chicken sub, and a huge calzone. Everything was absolutely delicious! Casual, tasty, easy, quick. This is definitely going to be our go-to spot for weeknight bites!! Staff is friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!

Interesting place with great pizza. I haven’t tried anything else yet but a pizza place you can walk to is always 5 stars.

Been going here for over 10 years now and it's never changed. Always great, fresh food at a good price and friendly faces behind the counter. Also a good selection of drinks if needed. Forever my go-to.

Love this place! I have been going since I was a little girl and I continue to go to this very day. They have some of the best subs in Boston, awesome pizza and every one is so friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile and I feel so welcome.

My family and I have been going there for years . Every owner has totally been super friendly and kind and the food is amazing. Everytime either I pick it up the owner says “ tell your dad I hope that he is doing well.” The pizzas are amazing and the wraps are as well.

Consistently fast & friendly as a pick up customer. Worth it to go past cheese & get the gourmet pizzas (spinach pie is fantastic). Owner is a hard working, great guy & always behind the counter.

Great restaurant! The food was really good (I got a gyro), and it tasted fresh. Also, the location is nice because for example, me and a friend went there RIGHT after we went sledding, so we didn't have to wait and walk far.

Nice people and pretty cheap prices, and the restaurant has lots of seating.

Love this place. People are always nice and polite. Food is always delivered quickly and piping hot when it gets here. Salads are always fresh. Try the Brothers' Own pizza if you looking for a white sauce pizza it's delicious.

My family we were thinking of going out so, we decided to order from the Checkmate.
I ordered the Chicken and broccoli Alfredo It was just right. it was delicious. a Grill Chicken Hot sub we Love it.
and we order the Shrimp fried plate and it was great.
This is a great place to order. and it was right on time. and the Delivery person he was very pleasant....

often times we are quick to write a negative review vs a good one. I want to share a wonderful experience with Checkmate Cafe. I had placed a delivery order yesterday and in preparation, I separated my tip from the rest of the cash that I had in my wallet. When the driver arrived he handed me the pizza and I handed him his tip. I ate the yummy pizza and then went out to the store to pick up a couple of things. As I go to pay and I'm searching my pocket for my cash and only count $5.00! I'm freaking out because I could not find the $90.00 in cash that I had. I then realized my huge mistake! I handed the driver a $90.00 cash tip and I kept my the $5.000. I quickly called @checkmake and told them my situation. The owner was super nice and said well this is a tough situation it will be your word against his. I was getting upset but understood it was no one's fault but mine! It was my mistake! At that very moment the driver comes in, the owner asks the driver if he received a $90.00 tip. I was like there is NO WAY he is going to say yes! Wouldn't you know the driver counted his tip and said yes he did! WHAAAAAATT!!!!!!! Is this really happening! Someone being completely honest! I was sooo appreciative I told him to keep a portion of the money and I pick up the rest! Thank GOD for honest people and businesses!

I have been to many of the pizza and sub shops in Rozzie. Checkmate is unequivocally the best!! Pizza is a thin crust with the right amount of topping that does not overpower the balance of flavor. Subs use a great roll that is the best in Boston in my opinion. They are not soggy like other local shops and have the best cold cuts. The Italian is great but if you want to truly try something phenomenal try the Ultimate sub with sliced pork, ham, cheese, et al on a toasted GARLIC BUTTER roll. It's Insane!
I first got their mailer and almost threw it out and noticed free delivery. With all the local delivery restaurants charging money for delivery I figured I would give them a try. I have ordered from them about 20 times and have never been disappointed in the food quality and at a reasonable price!!
I have written only a few reviews but had to tell everyone about this place. Checkmate is a must eat restuaurant!!!

Called in for a Checkmate Chicken fetta wrap, I picked it up, wrap was good, I never had any problems with the service in this facility, people that work here are polite , great food at reasonable prices.

Great people. one of the best place to go for a clean and very good food. i just got there and ordered a greek salad and i really like it.
