Beautiful! We loved Easter Sunday Mass. I love traditional Catholic Masses. I felt very at home here and will continue to attend when ever l’m in San Antonio over a weekend. Simply faith filled, reverent, and very sacred.

So grateful for this to have become our Parish for the past 3.5 years! After hunting and praying, and struggling to find a more traditional Catholic Church since moving to SA. I've found amazing community with the other mom's at Atonement. We hope and plan for this to be our parish for many years to come. 🤍

Visited during the Presentation of the Lord. What a beautiful church! It looks like a castle. And the Marian side altar in the main sanctuary was breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful lots parking so Hidden away
in a residential area country style homes with large yards.
Wow the church is so awesome like
a England Cathedral with high ceilings
and decorated with hanging light fixtures the walls are unlike no other
Style decorated dark wood. The Altar is marble black and a gigantic cross.
What a surprise when you walk in that
It's hard to describe all inside seeing
Is believing such beauty and has a school.

Saw confusion with other reviews: this parish is Ordinariate Catholic, so although not in the Roman/Latin Rite, it is fully catholic and in comminion with Rome (same with St. George Maronite...just a different rite). Not Anglican, but has Anglican traditions. Big difference. Beautiful mass and experience. It felt like Latin Mass in Middle English.

We went for a volleyball game. The church and the gym are beautiful. I would love to attend mass here one day. Very beautiful.

The school offers a wonderful classical education and is a highly rated academy, with highly educated teachers and staff. If your child goes here, they will be ahead, academically.
The church services are beautiful with their choir and traditional aspects. They have daily Mass and several services on Sunday, with confessions throughout the week (check website for exact dates and times). They have a nice cry room as well with colored televisions to help hear.
The people and priests are friendly and welcoming as well, with a strong community with lots of church and school events.

After attending a modern Catholic Church, I decided to go to this church and give it a try. At first, I was put off by the sermon and coupled with not being prepared for a traditional mass. After that day, I gave it another shot and was amazed at how peaceful and welcoming I felt. I do enjoy Fr. Lewis and Fr Jenkins. They are soft spoken but their sermons also hit me deeply. Even in confession I feel they have the best listeners but definitely go on the week days. It's my go to weekday mass church.

I just moved to Texas from New York and my main goal was to find a church that wouldn't harrass me for not wearing a mask and luckily, I found this gem. There's no pressure in terms of wearing a mask, the pews are not roped off for "social distancing" (oxymoron of a term) and the two priests, Father Lewis and Father Jenkins are wonderful. It's an oasis of normalcy in these ridiculous times. Both of them give thorough and great advice in the confessional and good homilies. The Mass is always very reverent and I like that there's confession 5 different times during the week. Not something you see very often from where I'm from. If you want to find a parish that takes the faith as seriously as it deserves, I highly recommend this one! Also, communion is only received kneeling and on the tongue. Another issue I don't have to worry about because I don't receive in the hand. Lastly, the church itself is breathtakingly beautiful. It has an old school traditional look and the altar has the rails as every church should. I have nothing bad to say about this parish!

If you have been looking for the Body of Christ, this is where it is. I was brought to tears several times during the Mass realizing what I and so many Catholics have been deprived of during the last year. Jesus lives here, is celebrated, and exalted. This place is about your eternal soul and the souls of your brothers and sisters. Such a blessing. I was reminded that God does not abandon us today and surely he has worked this divine opportunity to find such a wonderful church home for my good and that of my children.

My husband and I were really struggling to find a Catholic church since moving to SA that felt more reverent. It's just what we prefer, so we'd been "church hopping" for probably 7 months before giving OLA a go. We were apprehensive about feeling out of place because regardless of hunting for a more reverent church, we were still unfamiliar with the wordings used in the Masses here. However, there's pamphlets so you can follow along, and the Mass itself is so beautiful it's worth a bit of awkwardness. In a way we learned to surrender our uncomfortableness for a truly beautiful discovery of faith.

We now both feel fairly comfortable after a few months and are considering registering as parishioners.

Great place to worship. Nice church with multiple mass service times.
Catholic but part of the Ordinariate rather than the SA Archdiocese.

I visited as a Protestant in 2019. Absolutely loved the reverence and the music. I felt like I was home and by the beginning of 2022, my son and I were Confirmed!

This is my second time visiting this Catholic church. Loved it. We come from out of town to visit in Bandera, Tx. and decided to visit this one for mass on Sun. I was very impressed to see people kneeling for communion and not taking the body of Christ in the hand. I come from a parish that does this and i think it's disrespectful to take Christ in our hand. I always take it in my tongue. God bless you for the respect you have for Jesus Christ.

After being disgusted Sunday after Sunday at the novel trappings of my local Novus Ordo parish, and I bet likely yours, I found a home at Our Lady of the Atonement. The priests unapologetically preach the truth of the gospel & the one, holy catholic and apostolic Church. They are true and fruitful fathers; there’s a plethora of young people and beautiful families. In addition to all of this, the liturgy is very beautiful and the architecture helps in this regard. This parish only distributes the Eucharist on the tongue, with the communicant kneeling on the altar rail, which is clearly more reverent than receiving Him in our hands, standing up, in addition to having the priest face “liturgical east” or ad orientem, as the liturgy rightly calls for. The Church is in crisis in many parts of the world and in many local parishes, but this Church stands like a fortified castle, a light on the hill, a Church you and I can trust.

It was wonderful to visit with the Latin Rite Mass offered. Nice to see so many show up for the services. Quaint, beautiful church as well. Worth the stop to pray.

Why is this THE FASTEST GROWING CATHOLIC CHURCH in one of the fastest growing cities in America?

THIS IS - without any doubt - THEE FINEST CHURCH IN ALL OF SAN ANTONIO!!!

For one - the sense of intense reverence present here is simply unmatched anywhere else. They are traditional, yet the priest's homily is VERY applicable and relevant to one's daily life.

Everything here is very thoughtfully executed. THREE deacons and SIX altar servers? Unique to Atonement! The FULL choir? Flawless.

For some odd reason - I find most Catholic churches in San Antonio have endless issues with their sound system.

Even the temperature settings at Atonement are set to provide as little distraction as possible. I find that literally every other local Catholic church has the temperature controls set very shortsightedly to "save money" by having the airconditioning kick on the instant mass begins. But doing that causes everyone to be on the verge of fainting as ALLLL that humidity in the entire chapel is drawn downward. Then - for the first 45 minutes or so - everyone perspires profusely as they fan themselves. Yet, after the final mass has ended - the air goes off and the empty church stays cool for hours afterwards. (Hey - here's an idea, guys: turn the air on 45 minutes BEFORE mass begins and have it set to turn off before the final mass ends!)

The sound system here at Atonement is as close to perfect as possible at ALL times, as are temperature controls, which appear to actually activate BEFORE the first mass begins. Everything here makes perfect sense.

This unique combination of remaining a place of staunchly traditional Catholic worship and yet being managed in an efficient, modern way IS how EVERY church should be run, yet - unfortunately - is very rare nowadays.

All of this makes for the best worship possible.

This is the most lovely parish in San Antonio and is truly the gem of Catholicism within this city. The liturgy is very traditional, reverent, and the parish community is welcoming to all who come. All the priests are quite nice here and Atonement Academy is one of the highest ranking Catholic schools in the nation.

Beautiful, reverent traditional Masses at this Roman Catholic church which is part of the Anglican Ordinariate. The sermons are always edifying, and reflect the truth and light of the gospel. The church also has an award-winning school, which is one of the top Catholic schools in the country, offering an exceptional education.
