Visiting Friedrich Park was an absolutely beautiful experience, one that I would recommend to anyone looking for a bit of nature and a good workout. The park offers a wide variety of trails that cater to all levels of hikers, from beginners to the more adventurous souls looking for a challenge. What impressed me the most was how well-maintained and clearly marked the trails were. With multiple maps and direction stands thoughtfully placed throughout the park, navigation was a breeze, ensuring that even those new to the park could find their way without any trouble.

The diversity of the trails is another highlight, offering everything from smooth, paved paths to more rugged terrains of rocks and dirt. This variety not only adds to the beauty and the natural feel of the park but also allows you to choose your adventure based on what you're in the mood for that day. I decided to take on a level 4 trail to test my limits, and it did not disappoint. It provided a fantastic workout, challenging yet immensely rewarding, though I would advise against bringing young children on the more intense trails.

The park was lively with a decent amount of fellow hikers, which added to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Yet, it never felt crowded or overwhelming, striking the perfect balance between being a popular spot and retaining a sense of peace and solitude.

In summary, Friedrich Park is a gem for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature, enjoy a good hike, and maybe even push their physical limits. Whether you're after a leisurely walk or a rigorous workout, this park has something for you. I left with my legs tired but my spirit uplifted, already looking forward to my next visit.

Great place to take family and friends on a hike! If theyre not from town especially. Birds are not as abundant, plant diversity is decent, hike is great, not too difficult!

No allow pets.
Parking is tricky depending on time.

This park is really nice with trails of varying steepness and length to choose from. The land itself is such a gem because of its proximity to the NW corner of the city. The trail head even has decent restrooms facilities. The only thing that could be improved upon is the dwarf sized parking lot! At the park opening at 7:30 AM, the lot is not only already full but there are at least 50 vehicles scattered about the street. It's a real shame. The good news for the hikers who park along the road is it's not marked as a no parking zone. Yet. Anyway, it's a wonderful park within city limits!

An amazing City of SA Park with well over 10 miles of trails of all difficulty levels. There are plenty of spots to see birds/wildlife and excellent views of the SA hill country.

I had the pleasure of hiking on an this awesome trail, and it turned out to be an extraordinary experience. Tucked away within a neighborhood, this hidden gem surprised me with its natural beauty and diverse trail options, catering to hikers of all skill levels.

The trail showcased the perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment, allowing me to immerse myself in nature while testing my hiking skills. The scenic views, lush surroundings, and well-maintained pathways added to the allure, creating a captivating atmosphere throughout the hike.

By far one of the best trail networks in san antonio. Very steep climbs. Rugged terrain. Nice views. Well marked trails. Well maintained trails. Ample parking with sufficient overflow on the street. Wheelchair and stroller friendly paths. Washroom facilities. Fantastic place to meet some of South Texas' critters, insects, birds, reptiles, and humans.
These trails are open sunrise to sunset. Exceptions include during and shortly after heavy rainfalls (check with preserve).
No dogs or bikes allowed
Non-smoking area
Hiking etiquette applies
Pack out what you pack in.
Stay right, pass left, and up has the right of way.

Supe fun hike. Not hard, good for trail running. It was pretty busy Sunday afternoon, but people were still respectful of each other.
I'm new to the area, there were lots of signs for some of the native plant species.

Wow! Such a nice park in the middle of a busy area of north San Antonio. A ton of options for trails to follow that you can do a super easy quick walk or a true long hard hike. Definitely need appropriate shoes for any of the #2-4 rated trails. Would recommend hiking shoes as there were areas of dirt and slippery rock even bone dry. Some beautiful views and was shady enough to help with the sun. We will definitely be going back for a longer hike. Be aware of the possible wildlife although we didn’t run into anything other than a lizard. Highly recommend.

Experience nature untouched by humans. Feel supreme relaxation while walking/running along these peaceful meandering paved pathways & trails .. The paths closest to massive (free) parking is ideal for Handicap needs, little rise in elevation, a short distance. .

No Pets allowed. I've Never seen trash of any sort here. Pristine!

100's of untouched acreage, nature offers native local Hill Country trees, bushes (many have names posted), comfy benches scattered throughout for admiring/resting, wildlife abounds the further in you explore. Bring water for your enjoyable journey as none is available.

Really enjoyed hiking at this location. It's a pretty popular place, judging by all the friendly people that have been here the couple of times I've been. There are different trail levels of hiking, so one can switch it up when he/she works up to it . Forget about peacefully hiking on weekend...it's super congested.
UPDATE 12/22: It's still Booyakah

The accessibility, facilities, and terrain are top tier! Plus - the best part is that there are so many trails for different levels of hikers AND so many easy-to-follow maps. I come weekly during many months of the year. Excellent park for training!

Great hiking/running trail! Great elevation changes, good mix of smooth and rocky/rooty terrain, big elevation change. A bit crowded, but it was a weekend mid-morning, so to be expected. It's always a bit crowded, but still beautiful, varied terrain, wonderful place to hike, trail run.

So many trail options from paved to dirt/stone. You can do a leisurely 1 mile walk on pavement or a sweat/heart-rate inducing 6+ mile hike. The views are awesome from above and a welcome stop to rest and consume water for the trip down. Don't miss the Fern Trail; short but one of my favorites. I've been coming here for over 20 years and still love it!

UPDATE: some one told me that if you go left on all the trail posts that you'll get 5+ miles without having to think most.

Friedrich is one of the best hiking spots in San Antonio! Not as many miles of trails as Gov't Canyon, but still a place you can easily get at least 10 miles done, mostly in the shade! We went there on Sunday, and it was packed (we had to park along Heuermann), but we rarely saw any people along the trails (Restoration Way and Encino Pass, especially). One odd thing I noticed this time around were several uprooted trees, some of them partially blocking some pretty hairy points along the way. The agarita were in bloom, so don't forget to rest near them to enjoy their fragrance!

Also, no dogs allowed.

I was a first time hiker approximately 2.5 years ago and this is an excellent hiking trail park. Spend a lot of time with God out here. Hiking trails offer from very simple to very difficult.

If you like early morning hike challenges that are nearby, or within the city, this is your place. The hiking trails are pretty challenging, but have awesome views. The trails vary in length, and the terrain can be a bit challenging. Beautiful though, especially if you love hiking! There were lots of people! Some just getting there, and others leaving. The parking area is really small, and so the overflow parks along the street. The street is pretty busy, so use caution when parking outside.

We came across this park and were disappointed upon finding out that no pets are allowed. We decided to come back and take the Restoration trail. The trails got rigorous at times but we absolutely loved it. Weekend is much, much busier than the weekdays. We thoroughly enjoyed our hike and witnessed stunning views. It felt as though we weren’t in San Antonio anymore! We walked seven miles total. I completely understand why pets and bikes are not allowed. It can get intense in some areas, depending on which trail you take.

Parking can be tough at times however this park is worth the trip. We have now done most of the trails at the park. We love the up and downs of the Bosque trail, the views, everything. The trail is well marked with many maps throughout. No bikers so nothing to worry about! Plus, if you get thirsty for a beverage and some food, stop at Beerhead not far away.
