It's hard to put into words the beauty of this rare architectural treasure. I've done the tour several times, and there are new things to discover in every visit. The details of the home are impressive throughout. The art glass is astounding.

The tour guides do a great job balancing the history of Susan Lawrence Dana's life while pointing out the particulars of Frank Lloyd Wright's design.

Regular tours can accommodate up to 15 people and are totally FREE! Parking is easily accessible and can be found directly across the street from the house.

An early example of Frank Lloyd Wright architectural design and an interesting story of the owner who commissioned the work. A guided 1 hour tour, you have to get tickets online but they are free.

We visited Springfield with a daughter and husband to see our grandsons living there, and meet new great granddaughter as well as new grand daughter in law. We decided to take in the Lincoln Museum and Dana Thomas house. Our guide at the house was amazing..and she had only been there since August! She knew so much and the way she explained was so interesting. I would go back for certain!!

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at this wonderful exhibit. We couldn't have asked for a better experience of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed an architectural master piece with the stained glass windows. This beauty is definitely worth a trip if you are already in Springfield. If not, visiting is definitely worth a visit. It's an amazing piece of history that isn't explained enough.

It is truly an amazing, eclectic, extravagant Frank Lloyd Wright home. An example of the use of the latest technology combined with early 20th century opulence. Construction details and extensive use of hand crafted art glass is astounding. Wright seemed to have free reign in designing this complex yet practical marvel. Our guide did a great job taking us on a tour (about 1 hour). The original owner had a huge inheritance and used the home for both entertaining and some community goodwill.

Beautifully kept home with amazing architecture. Our guide, Amber, did an excellent job of informing us of the history of this Frank Lloyd Wright design. It's definitely worth a visit.

FANTASTIC HOUSE!!!! 98% original Frank Lloyd Wright house only blocks from the Illinois State capital building. Sooooo much art glass and almost all original furniture. Only drawback is that you can't take photos in the house but totally understand that and would highly recommend anyone to go visit if you are in Springfield. You need to make reservations online because they only have a few guided tours a day but the website is easy to use.

We went for the holiday evening tour. The tours are shorter than the regular tours which was perfect for visiting with our 10 year old. The holiday decorations were a nice addition and they had s'mores and hot cocoa around a fire in the courtyard.

Great experience. This was the highlight of our weekend trip to Springfield. The tour guide was very engaging and you could really tell his passion for the history of the house. You must visit if you are in the area.

Excellent free guided tour. Unfortunately no photos allowed. Such exquisite work. Frank Lloyd Wright was a master and so wrapped up in detail.

How amazing this home is! If u are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, you have to check it out! Side note...don't go until after 3pm or wait til the end of May cuz the tour buses of kids ruins your tour. Only one tour guide. Can't take pictures inside so hope you have a good memory!

This residence, house, structure is a must see for every person enthralled by and informed about the work of designer and architect Frank Loyd Wright. According to our excellent host and guide this is the second largest of his buildings in America. Sumac September / fall glass adorns the windows throughout the three floor structure, a prominent statue greets you,, stairs lead quickly to a room with Wright designed chairs, he designed all the furniture, a fireplace invites you to sit down, a large dining room with a barrel ceiling is surrounded by a sumac original mural painted on the two walls, gotta see it, still in tact, not painted over, 4 floor to ceiling light fixtures, stairs lead to a small gathering area where musicians would sometimes play while you enjoyed dinner, then a hall lleads to an amazing large bedroom, oak trim, cubbies for clothing, wood floors,, bathroom includes a soaking and smaller bath tub, then sharply down stairs to large kitchen, two stoves, a whole wall ice box, then a large enclose front porch you could dance in and a lecture hall/ music hall/poetry reading room for 35 people, a surprise bowling ally in tbe basement, definitely japanese influence and beautiful, #1 place to visit in springfield besides lincoln library and museum and his burial site.

I have loved Frank Lloyd Wright houses for a long time and though there is one in the next city over where I live, it doesn't compare to this place. It's 12000 sq ft of lavishness with its windows and furniture and little extras all created specifically for design as well as function. It was interesting learning the history behind the house and its previous owners as well as its use as a publishing company. No interior photos allowed so you definitely want to take the tour.

Tour guide was great. Not many people in our group due to the weather. I would recommend anyone vacationing in Springfield to add this to their itinerary!

Had a fabulous time--even the kids. Our guide was a female volunteer and was so much fun. The house is amazing! Made me want to get to know the life of it's owner and Frank Lloyd Wright. I wish we could have taken photos inside.
