Jack Russell’s Steakhouse and Brewery

It is February 2024. Off-season, but luckily for us - they are open on Thursday/Friday/Saturday for dinner!!
Excellent in every way. Our entree was a delicious haddock dish with sides of ceasar salad, and red potatoes. They made me a wonderful Blueberry martini.
The staff were attentive and pleasant and the ambience was intimate and comfortable. Bar Harbor is the Best!!!

We saved the best place for last on our visit to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. We got there not long before closing as we had been out hiking all day, but they welcomed us in with with nothing but smiles. Our waiter (his name escapes me- but he was very outgoing and was clearly an avid hiker who had grown up in the area) was absolutely wonderful and was super friendly.

The food itself was also wonderful- it was the best we had in Bar Harbor. We started with an appetizer of fried calamari which was perfectly cooked and tender. Then we tried the lobster mac & cheese and the surf and turf combo with a whole boiled lobster and a NY strip steak (paired with fingerling potatoes and asparagus). Everything was cooked to perfection, but especially that fresh caught lobster. We finished the night off with sharing their fudge brownie sundae, it was absolutely delicious. Everything was a 10/10.

When you are at most establishments past closing, you normally get the feeling that the waitstaff would like for you to leave so they can go home (reasonably so- and we would never try to stay past closing anywhere any longer than necessary)- but the individuals working at Jack Russell's made us feel as if we were part of their family there, engaging in casual conversation with us about our hiking adventures and hometowns, etc. even after we had finished our meals. It really was a delightful experience all around and our only regret is that we did not get to dine there another day as we had to head for home the next morning. But we will be back again in the future for more hiking and "consequently"- another dinner at Jack Russell's. Highly recommend you give them a try if you are in the area.

My wife and I had dinner there 3 times out of the 6 days we were in Bar Harbor. We were there 7, 16 to the 21st. I had The Ribbeye steak and the NY cut. Both were cooked To perfection medium rare Seared and filled with juices. My wife had the lazy man's lobster every time and enjoyed it more each time. I also want to make clear that each time we were there, the service was phenomenal. Our server was always friendly and always quick with service. A great experience in food and service with a great view.

We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here and just WOW!!! Everything was absolutely perfect. The wooden interior was stunning and set the perfect mood. They printed out adorable menus with each of our guests names on them which was a cute personal touch. Each staff members couldn't have been nicer. The bar had literally everything you could have wanted (blueberry martinis are a must!). And the food was the show stopper!! From the steak to the lobster to the blueberry crumble, it was incredible! Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just dinner!!

Delicious & very reasonably priced, especially for a steakhouse! Cozy ambiance too with very friendly staff! This place really pulled through for us during our stay in Bar Harbor after the hurricane had blown through and knocked out power in several spots. It was just a couple minute walk from our hotel & was perfect. We even came back for a second dinner before leaving.

Very lovely place, was able to come for lunch with my dog. We shared the scallops & petite filet appetizer with fries. I also got a Sand Beach Rules drink, which reminded me of a bourbon honey, it was delicious. Steak & scallops were cooked perfectly. Then I had a blueberry crumble dessert with an extra scoop of ice cream for my dog. Service was excellent and food delicious. If this weren't my last day I'd certainly be back! I'm hoping to plan a fall shoulder season trip, so perhaps we'll be back in then!!

Salmon was steaming hot, cooked to perfection. The salad was crisp and fresh. Mom's fish and chips were great (that's what she said)!

Blueberry martini was succulent and we were surprised with warm pretzels and mustard!

Best food in town! AMAZING!!! The filet was so tender and delicious! The Lazy Lobster was perfect! Prices here are better than the other places by far! Dessert was pricy but oh so yummy!!!! Would highly recommend.

Absolute artist of a cocktail bartender and excellent steak. Asparagus was mediocre and onion rings were uninspiring, but the crab cakes and sweet potatoes fries were solid. Martinis were excellent all around. Food and drinks came fast and we were completely done eating 50 minutes after we sat down.

Service was great! Food and drinks were all perfect. We had steak, crab cakes, fish & chips, and a burger. Shared blueberry crumble and brownie sundae between 4 for dessert. The cadillac sunrise martini was delicious. A bit expensive, but no complaints about anything. Vacation is for splurging.

Great service, our waitress was very busy but cheerful and so efficient. The Pupu platter was plenty for 2 with a salad, and was delicious. We went for a quick, early dinner and were very happy with everything.

I'm so confused by the negative reviews for this place. We tried it even though we thought it might be a gamble. Our steaks were done perfectly, the crab cake was delicious and the service and attention were phenomenal. I'm glad we didn't let the naysayers scare us away!

Amazing Park No words are very diverse in the landscapes. Lots of different hiking trails. You can spend tax days. Entrance fee $ 30

We were looking for the perfect place to have a dinner for 20, something intimate, with parking, good food and atmosphere and Jack Russell's was the perfect choice. We've never been disappointed with their food or service over our years of eating there but they went above our expectations for our son's high school graduation. They set our table up in the mezzanine of their beautiful new building, which had the best view, warm lighting, and served as the perfect backdrop for photos. They were hospitable with our bringing a banner and cake to top off the celebration and were flexible with guests trickling in as they arrived. Every item off the menu; apps, entrees, desserts, and specialty drinks, were excellent. Our server was so patient with our multiple orders and separate checks. We cannot thank Jack Russell's enough for making our momentous occasion extra special. Thank you.

Very pleasant I interior. Looks more like a house on exterior. Food was exceptional service as well. They are known for the steaks they serve which others in party stated was excellent..

Went here for our wedding night dinner - so glad we did! What an amazing place! It was nice and quiet and service was phenomenal, as was the food! Could not have been happier. The crab cakes boast 90% crab meat and that is very true and delicious! The filet mignon was the best I've ever had in my life and the thickest piece of meat have ever had in my life! They make their own balsamic dressing which is awesome! We had an amazing Seafood appetizer of locally harvested seafood and creme brulee for dessert! Highly recommend!!!! I wish I had better pictures of the entire meal but we ate it too fast LOL

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel compelled to give Adam, Maria and the staff here a huge shout out here for being so welcoming and friendly to us. My girlfriend and I came up here for our anniversary and after 6+ hours on the road and a late arrival, most places were closing up, but Jack Russell’s welcomed us in 5 minutes before they closed, served us a delicious meal and great drinks. Adam and Maria were lovely to talk to and we’d recommend anyone come here to enjoy. Thank you!!!

First thing I saw were the prices. They were on the higher side, but lately everywhere prices have climbed to survive. We had take out, which usually lowers the quality of what you receive. NOT here. We got our money's worth. Thank you. The lobster stew was packed full of non-frozen lobster meat and flavor. We had to use a fork. The pan seared scallops were done perfectly and everything else was amazing. If this was your take-out, I can't wait to dine-in.

There was no wait for our group of 8. The food was good. I enjoyed the hot pretzels and mustard, and my clam chowder was great. The service was also friendly and fast.
