Mainely Meat BBQ on Dreamwood Hill

This is our first time in the area and coming to this place. We were greeted upon entering and got seated right away. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The food was really good and portions were a lot. We did not finish and ended up boxing it. Really enjoyed the food. I love that they have a dog menu with a great background story. Would definitely come back.

Ate here two days in a row during my stay on Mt. Desert Island. First day I tried the lobster roll (requested no lettuce), it was excellent and the roll was nice and soft. Fries were great. Next day I had the sampler, the chicken, pulled pork, and ribs were great but my favorite was the sausage despite not being a fan of spicy foods. The mac & cheese also had a spicy kick I didn't care for but was otherwise excellent. You won't go wrong stopping here.

We ate on the patio because we had two dogs with us. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming to us and our dogs.

Our waitress, Erika, was delightful and gave us great recommendations for lunch. We got mugs of soup, a sampler of the BBQ and the pulled pork sandwich. We also had a slice of blueberry pie for dessert. The dogs each got the pulled turkey off the menu and everyone was very content. I really enjoyed the sausage and smoked chicken but everything was delicious. Make sure you get the hot sauce!

I’ve been to Carolina, Texas, and KC, and honestly, the meats at this place rank. The wings in particular were some of the best to grace my taste, so don’t miss ‘em jumping to the mains. The sauce and sides could use improvement; they’re okay, but don’t really elevate the meal (try mixing their spicy and sweet sauces for best combo). Good service, good space, good drinks… and the whole meal was the cost of a lobster roll. Drop the fish, hit this dish.

The food was fantastic. Ribs fell off the bone. We ordered the sampler and a pulled pork sandwich. Cool atmosphere to sit outside on a nice day & service was quick & friendly!

Unbelievably good BBQ. From Texas, I was fully prepared to nitpick the dishes and sides, but I swear this was as good or better than most BBQ I've had in Texas. Ribs fell off the bone, so succulent. Pulled pork was perfect. I almost never order chicken, but theirs was top notch. The sausage was different than in Texas (no jalapenos, more Italian spiciness), but just as good. And the sides were so solid too: mac and cheese, potato salad, even the cole slaw was on point.
Two bonus points that put it all over the top: really friendly and helpful staff, and surprisingly good prices. We're here for a month, and fully expect to be back once a week, and probably take some to-go for the road.

Maybe it’s because I was hungry or maybe it’s because it was just great, but this was some of the best barbecue that I’ve ever had. The sausage was so good and the chicken had a delicious, smoked flavor that was incredible even before I drowned it in sauce.

I got this platter for a family of four, but I’d get the same thing even if it was only me, so I could have all the leftovers.

Only complaint… (and I know I’m in the North but) sweet tea. Nothing is better with smoked meat than sweat tea!

Mainly Meats BBQ is a delicious place to eat lunch or dinner. The portions are large and the ribs, smoked pulled turkey and pork are SO Good! We ate here twice during our 5 day stay in Bar Harbor. The servers are friendly and we enjoyed eating outside on the patio listening to the great music. They also had live music the one evening we were there. Definitely stop in here when you are hungry and near Bar Harbor.

This place lived up to the reviews and beyond! Highly recommend the full rack of ribs with the spicy BBQ sauce and the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were the best I’ve ever eaten and literally fell cleanly off the bone. You could even accidentally eat the bones they were so soft! Fries were excellent too, and all at a reasonable price. Absolutely the best option in the area for anything that’s not seafood. They also have lobster rolls but we didn’t try them

Take Out Order-Full rack of Ribs with Mac & Cheese, side order of smoked chicken wings. Everything was delicious, ribs prepared perfectly. Probably among best ribs (Quality, Quantity and cooked to perfection) I've ever eaten. Highly recommended! We'll be back!!

Stopped here for dinner per friends recommendations. Food and service were both wonderful. The peel to eat shrimp was excellent; ribs were fall-off-the-bone and absolutely delicious; chicken was one of the best we’ve had in a while; our daughter couldn’t stop eating her pulled turkey sandwich.
Easily one of the best dinners we’ve had on Mt. Desert Island. We went back for dinner again the very next night.
Would not hesitate to dine here again.

The wait staff was exceptionally friendly and struck the perfect balance between attentiveness. I opted for the pulled pork plate accompanied by a generous serving of fries. The pork was incredibly delicious, well seasoned even without any sauce. The portion size was large. The fries were delightfully crisp and fresh. Normally, I would skip dessert, but I couldn't resist when they offered warm apple pie with a side of soft serve. It was a delightful. I'm only here for two days, but I'm already planning to return tomorrow!

Great food! Our server Bri was awesome! Kind helpful and really understood us. She told jokes and made us laugh with her stories. Awesome time! The food was a little bit slow to arrive but that's because they were very busy. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. A great place to grab food if you like BBQ or meat. Not a vegetarian place but they did have a veggie burger. Definetly a place to take kids. great Ice cream next door.

We passed a few other BBQ joints on our way through the smaller city's of Northeast Maine and came up on this place. We were not disappointed. The meats are the start of this show as they should be, the dry rub and smoke mixture used for cooking creates a strong yet subtle flavor across all of the meat types.

The sides could get kicked up a notch, but the focus is in producing good meats and this place does that; definitely stop and experience the relaxing atmosphere they have to offer.

And yes they are dog friendly which we love! Kudos to this place and their name. Double play on words whether intentional or not, it works!

The food,prices,portions, and service were all great. The flavor of the food was also great!

Delicious!!! I can be picky about my barbecue, and this was really good. All of the sauces were delicious, in the ribs were perfectly tender. You can tell that they care about each plate that they send out. A huge perk that there's ice cream right next door, we definitely left full!

We are in town from Massachusetts for the Memorial Day weekend. We stopped here to eat and are so glad we did! The food was amazing, served to us very quickly as well. And our server (I want to say her name was Kate..but I could be wrong) was the nicest possible server we may have ever had. She was super friendly and courteous. We definitely will be back next time we come to town!!

Fantastic BBQ at a very decent price. I have been going here for years as I used to work in the area, the pulled pork sandwich is amazing and up until yesterday is all I ever got. the past 2 days I have gone twice and decided to go with the sampler. First I got a appetizer and the jalepeno poppers looked average but were so addictive. The ribs had great flavor and fell right off the bone, the sausage was packed with flavor and had just a bit of spice to it, the chicken had good flavor but I was too full to really enjoy it. This is a must go to any who want something different than seafood while in Bar Harbor, I dont think I'll ever go to Bar Harbor without stopping in for a bite!

Didn't expect to find a great BBQ joint in Maine, but his place was the equal of anything I've had in Texas. The only thing missing was brisket. We had the sampler platter with sausage, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. All were very good and the dry rub on the ribs (fall off the bone) was outstanding. Note they have 2 locations. This one and one co-located with Atlantic Brewing, which is a great microbrewery on the island.

As we were driving to Bar Harbor we smelled the most amazing BBQ, so, of course, we had to go back to try it during our stay! My husband and I were so impressed. The drinks were great, and the food was AMAZING. Service was quick, and we will definitely be back!
