Mama Dimatteo's

We were looking for some good Italian food after having eaten a LOT of Lobster and Clam Chowder over the past few days, and were lucky enough to find Mama Dimatteo’s!
We had a very good dinner there! We were so happy to find this place!
My wife had the Fettuccine Alfredo and thought it was pretty good.
I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was delicious! It was quite possibly the best I’ve had! We also enjoyed some Baked Cheese as an appetizer and loved it!
Our server, Alex, was very friendly, helpful, gracious, and attentive!
Parking in Bar Harbor is challenging this time of year, but we found an on street spot about 2 blocks away. No biggie…
They have indoor and outdoor seating available. We had made reservations and our table was ready when we arrived.
I would recommend this place highly and will return myself again when I can!

Nice Italian place near city center. Service was amazing and attentive. Food was on a smaller portion but it tasted great. Loved the clam chowder. Sea food was so fresh you could swear they just jump out of the sea into your plate.

Mama Dimatteos was a really quaint, cozy Italian restaurant we discovered by reading reviews. We had to get reservations - it is a popular place to eat. The staff were excellent, food delicious, wine list limited but sufficient, and cocktail menu had a variety of delicious drinks. Everything we had was excellent but I really remembered the garlic nuggets which were awesome as an appetizer
We ate there twice during our stay in Bar Harbor and would definitely dine here again. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like good Italian food.

Great outdoor seating surrounded by sunflower, grape, tomato, filled planters. Our waitress, Martha, was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had chicken alfredo, meatballs, salad and bread, blueberry soda, and carrot cake. Everything was prepared and presented well.

Easily the best restaurant we went to in Bar Harbor. We wanted to get something different after getting tired of lobster and being disappointed by some other restaurants in this area.

I kept it simple with the Spaghetti Marinara with Meatballs and while the spaghetti itself was exactly what you would expect, their meatballs just took it to another level. They were packed with flavor and I just wish they had given me more than two!

My wife got the Pan Browned Gnocchi and after trying some of hers I regretted not having ordered that for myself. It was absolutely amazing.. I don't know how they made that but wow.. Everything was cooked perfectly and it may be the best italian meal I've ever tasted.

We were also pleasantly surprised to find that they gave us some veggies on the side in the form of brussel sprouts. We're not sure how they were cooked but they tasted great and we just scarfed it down.

If we're ever back in Bar Harbor we'd definitely come here again.

This place was Amazing,I really enjoyed eating dinner here. I got buttered spaghetti its not on their menu. I ordered this because I prefer more simplistic dishes due to my sensory issues. Our server Kira didn’t miss a beat in writing my odder down and sending it off to the kitchen. She is quite possibly the best server at any restaurant I’ve ever been to. We sat in the garden outside, which was quite beautiful especially at night. The garden beds have all sorts of herbs ,tomatoes and squash. That they use in their cooking as well as flowers. The roasted garlic as an appetizer was just divine with their bread. Over all this was a ten out of ten experience. With crème brûlée and local ice cream for desert!

Wow! This was the best dining experience we had in Bar Harbor. It’s very easy to miss this hidden gem. It’s not on the main roads and is in a quiet corner of downtown. The patio has beautiful flowers and fireplaces and inside is a charming mid century coastal vibe, very basic, but elegant. The service was attentive and felt slowed down and personal, not just another table to turn. The food was amazing, cooked and seasoned perfectly and the bottles of wine were reasonably priced. 12/10 would recommend.

The food was absolutely amazing! This restaurant seems like a hidden gem. I’m surprised it is not packed! Please don’t get offended by Alex, he is great just had a matter of fact personality. We had chicken gnocchi and garlic Parmesan haddock. For an appetizer we had the rossotto cheese ball which was delicious!

When you need a break from fried seafood, give this place a try. I had the browned gnocchi and my wife the gorgonzola steak. Both were excellent.

This place was such a nice find. Multiple servers talked to us & hoped our meal was well. Every single person was kind beyond belief. Cid was our server and he was so friendly and recommended the Halibut picatta, it was delicious.

Don't let the funky facade and decor fool you. This is the best Italian food for the money in Bar Harbor. Clam and linguine, as well as swordfish piccata, are fantastic. Also try Gorgonzola salad and a blueberry crisp dessert. Our waiter, Scott, was attentive and helpful with suggestions. Plenty of wine choices and specialty cocktails. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Make reservations if you want to eat outside.

A very nice find of a restaurant. Our waiter was awesome, and the food was amazing. We have had Mamas Onion soup (as close as you can expect to the French original in an Italian restaurant in the US), Lobster Mac'n'Cheese, Cajun Grilled Halibut on Cesar's Salad and Chicken Parmesan. All great dishes ... and not to forget to mention our awesome Blueberry Mojitos.

This place's Lobster Piccata is still the best thing I've ever eaten. I literally licked the bowl and did not feel one bit ashamed.

had dinner last night with our small dog. The food was outstanding and ainwas the service and friendliness! Had delish haddock Parm with pasta !

Excellent service and food. Halibut piccata was the special tonight and the fresh broiled scallops were delicious. Don't miss the limoncello tiaramisu with fresh blueberries and lemon curd.

This food was better than anything i have ever experienced. me and my father visited mama di matteo’s and were greeted and served by martha which brought this experience from a 10/10 to a 100/10 we orders the gnocchi having never tried it before and only then we realized what we were missing out on. the hand made gnocchi paired with a wonderfully executed masala sauce (whine) could not have ever been made better. this dish was perfectly balanced between warm and comforting while also exhibiting depth of flavor and texture. their steak gorgonzola was cooked beyond perfect tender yet fully done as well as extraordinarily juicy.

Absolutely delicious meal, the staff was very helpful and friendly. Very clean and fun decor. Prices are great and portions are amazing. Will definitely be back

Food and service were top notch. I truly don't understand how this place only has 4.1 stars (as of 9/7/22). The Garlic Haddock and Mac and Lobster were delicious and the serving size plentiful. The homemade focaccia and the baked cheese for appetizers were great as well. Don't miss this place!

Delicious food. Staff was friendly and gave us great recommendations for other places to try over the next few days. Indoor and outdoor seating both are nice.
