Nils fixed a broken buckle on a child’s backpack. Turns out that clear buckles are very rare, so he just pulled one off another old backpack, this time black, and it’s good as new. Ready to pass on to another kid. Thanks, Nils!

I love Great Lakes Gear Exchange! Very well organized inside with a good selection of seasonal gear! Prices are very fair (much better than the other Duluth used sporting goods store, which rhymes with schmay-smit-schmagain shorts). The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great Lakes Gear Exchage is a fantastic place to find outdoors essentials. I always start here because the prices are so reduced and the gear is only gently worn. Plus buying used is better for the environment. The staff helped us find a backpack that fits well and we picked up a cooler and a very high quality double sleeping bag that normally retails for hundreds of dollars.

Their customer service is fantastic. I've been able to get what I was looking for each time I've gone in. I go here before I go to big brand stores. Clothes are gently used and reasonably priced.

Took 4 camping items that have been sitting unused for a few years. I now have a tidy bit of cash I can use for something I will use. One well run organization!

Went in for a repair on the zipper and pocket of my winter jacket worried I might have to leave it for weeks. They were able to just get it done for me super quick while I waited. Very happy with the price and the customer service. They also have lots of great gear. I didn’t pick up anything today but I think that’s the first time I’ve managed to leave without adding to my outdoor gear collection.

We purchased a kayak from Great Lakes Gear Exchange and they wee just wonderful! Nils is so knowledgeable and experienced, and patient in answering all our questions. Everyone there is so nice.we picked up some great deals in other gear, and they even gave us a lesson and tips in properly tying the kayak before we left. They treat customers like friends. We’ll be back every time we visit Duluth. Great store!

Thankful for the repair portion of the business! Repaired and patched zippers on my North Face & a vintage Eddie Bauer. Both expensive pieces with lots of life left in them now! While getting a zipper on my favorite hoodie replaced, I set up a piece for sale and that was a super easy process. The team was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to all the shoppers. While waiting - I landed on a really great priced gently used ski set up I've wanted for a long time. Definitely my go to play to keep playing outdoors in this great city! From gear repair to finding new hobbies in gently used geat, this place is the best!

I came in to buy some cross country skiing equipment and was really impressed with the service. One worker, Guthrie, was very knowledgeable in cross country skiing and helped me pick out the best gear for my ability level and with what they had. (which was super helpful because I had just begun the sport). The selection was also a lot better than Play it Again Sports.

I had a problem with one of the ski boots I bought and later that day they had no problem with me returning the boots. I had to purchase other boots from somewhere else, but I am still very, very happy with the XC skis I bought here and their service!!

I love this place, they have such an incredible selection of high quality gear and great brands at great prices. I also bring my gear and clothing in for consignment too, and the process is so easy! The staff is so nice and helpful, I always walk out with some great deals. Will definitely be back!!

Pawel, an employee here was friendly and knowledgeable as he took time to help me set up an intricate tent in store before I ended up purchasing it. Nils, another employee, gave me insight on their selection of bike racks. Thank you both for your exemplary customer service, y’all are rad af.

Very friendly staff and very reasonable prices. I walked in with 1 item and very quickly got set up with my consignment account. I walked out with 2 pairs of boots and a clothing item for under $100. This will be your first 'I need some new gear' stop.

It’s not often when I go into a store and come out feeling compelled to leave a review. I came into Great Lakes exchange looking for Cross Country Ski’s. Because my know is few and I’m a beginner. I counted on Great Lakes to help me find a pair that fit me and my needs. With that said they did not disappoint. I left that store feeling to happy and excited for my new adventure. Lily our sales associate helped us out so much. She made me and my family feel welcomed and shared in our excitement. What matter most to was the respect and care she gave to me and my kids. My youngest was so excited he gave her a hug and said “Thank you”. No words can express how grateful I am.
