North Shore Scenic Railroad

My sister's and I took the train where we got to pick out a wreath. I've also been on the train a couple other times for a murder mystery show and then just a random one for fun. Every time I've been on the trains it's been a blast. It's definitely a great family experience! I like how they decorate the trains too, it was super cute.

Fun family experience. Nice Christmas story. Wished the train ride was a little longer. Great museum. Would have liked to prepay for parking instead of standing in a driving rain to pay. Everyone enjoyed the experience. The museum was great too.

Wow! I actually give it 6 stars! An extra star for excellent service on the train ride. We got the VIP top glass canopy shorter day 75 minutes ride. We had such a great time and I wish it was a longer ride.

We went on a rainy day and this train tour magically made it romantic. The VIP top glass canopy is well worth the extra money. On the website it says “beverage and snacks provided.” My goodness that’s an understatement. I was thinking airline coach seats snacks… soda and peanuts. We were provided two drinks which included beer and wine. The snack was a meat and cheese box which was excellent. On the way back we also got amazing brownies.

We’re definitely going again!!! Next time we want to go on the longer ride. Highly recommended.

PS. The people who go on these tours are exceptional and gracious. We met two amazing older couples which were a hoot to talk with. One of the older couples bought my fiancé a gift. Such a beautiful time.

Amazing place for a Santa Experience. We took our family to the Christmas City Express and it was a great activity for all. There was a short children's interactive story reading by the author, a Santa experience with photo op, a walk around the depot museum, and a 30 min train ride with cocoa and cookies. Highly recommend and recommend spending the extra $ for the dome car!

I live this railroad, and taking a train ride on the North Shore was a fantastic experience. We went on the 6:00 pm pizza party ride on coach, and it was worth every penny. What really made our experience was the car with the open sides. Being able to stand at the railing and look out to the lake and woods was a lot of fun. You can buy drinks and snacks as well, which is nice.

Overall, if you haven't been on a train ride before, getting a museum pass and a train ticket is 100% worth your time if you're in Duluth. Speaking on the railroad itself, it was very smooth and went through a sufficient amount of scenic areas.

Great museum and working train in downtown Duluth. Several different train rides available, check out the website. The museum has a lot of fun attractions. I have been on the Pumpkin Patch train and recently took a ride to Two Harbors and back for a private Halloween event.

Beautiful casual ride to Two Harbors. Gave as a birthday gift and this did not dissapoint. Left us plenty of time to check out the museum before and Duluth night life after. Run by all volunteers, they were magnificent! Our ride was in the dome car and worth it! They do allow pasengers to roam through the cars and check them out - highly recommended!!

We rode to Two Harbors and enjoyed the experience so much! The snacks out and back as well as a beverage provided at no charge was a nice surprise. Don't be in a hurry if you choose this trip. Relax and enjoy the ride.

We took a ride for our 25th wedding anniversary, on the skydeck. It was beautiful the food and drinks were good and the train staff were great, friendly, polite and great sense of humor. I just wish that the ride went further than Lakeside. Definitely a great experience!

Had an amazing experience on this trip! Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Huge variety of different kinds of trips to take which is nice. Definitely recommend if in the Duluth area. The views and experience are fantastic!

Highly recommended!! The food was amazing, I had the braised short ribs. We did the murder mystery dinner train and the entertainment was fantastic. Views were great! It was a wonderful night!

It was a little shorter than we thought it would be (we did the Zephyr in the afternoon) but still fun and beautiful views. When boarding they don't tell you which cars are air conditioned or not and we sat in the only one that wasn't (90+° out).

Absolutely amazing experience. I’ve gone on this train twice, once for the fall color train in 2017 and another this past fall for just the regular route. Beautiful scenery, great service. I got the tickets up by the windows and we got drinks and snacks. The museum is a nice plus as well. Excited to return!

This is an AMAZING scenic railway. 100% worth every penny. We paid for the caboose to ourselves so it was an extra special treat. The train crew and the museum/souvenir employees were wonderful as well. There are different cars you can pay to ride in but being at the end for half the trip was a treat, and being in the front for half the trip was just as great.

We went up to Duluth and went to the North Shore Train Depot for the hour and a half ride on it and went into the museum and checked out all the old steam Locomotives and memorabilia so interesting in there too!😉👍

Just did the murder mystery excursion, it was awesome! The cocktail hour was so nice, we were in a glass dome car, with beautiful views of the north shore. Dinner and the murder were in another car(also very nice!). It was so much fun! The dinner was amazing and dessert was too! The crew was amazing! Interactive murder mysteries put together the story line, it was awesome! So much fun! I would highly recommend doing this. We're already making plans to go again next year!

We rode in the dome car on the train trip that goes to Two Harbors and back. It was a great experience. You can move around all the train cars and experience the entire train. The porters were extremely nice and helpful.

Historic place and great tour ride on Duluth. There is a train museum inside. Staff is kind. You get to wait until your name gets called. Overall it is an awesome experience.

We got tickets for first-class and it was well worth the money! We each got two free drinks, a small charcuterie container, and a brownie. They tasted great. The staff was very friendly. The seating was very comfortable! Although the ride itself wasn’t crazy scenic, it was still very enjoyable! I would highly recommend if you are visiting Duluth!
