Hartley Nature Center

Awesome visitor's center and lots of trails to hike, snowshoe and ski in the winter. The visitor's center has affordable rentals in every size, too.

Totally worth the hike. Favorite place in Duluth. We saw a quail and it was sure cute and come up to us. The trail that leads you up to the rocks was a great view. The colors were stunning.

Amazing city park. I have been visiting Duluth for the past 3 years and just now discovered this place. I wish I had visited a lot sooner.

So many trails to choose from, so many different nature areas. I visited on a Monday and at 9:30am the parking lot was almost full. So I would suggest visiting early if possible. Interpretive signs along the trails. The trails themselves were all very well maintained, and everyone that I encountered on them were very courteous and happy to be out in nature.

I will def return again. Thank you Duluth for this gem.

An amazingly beautiful place to go out for riding bikes and walk. I was out for a walk there with a friend and we both absolutely loved it. I am not surprised this friend of mine has some serious plans to visit this place more often now (has even picked a spot to read books and have coffee every morning) !

Never actually been in the nature center, but I've been all over these trails in the park and I can honestly say that I love this place. I've rarely been to a city park and have felt this removed from the city around me.
Some days the air force jets can disrupt the experience, but just wait a few minutes and the peace will be back.
The bench by the pond is a great place to sit and let nature calm your nerves.

The park is very dog friendly, so bring them along for the casual walk or out on the tougher segments of trail.
There are bears, so be aware of that!

Hartley is Duluth's Central Park. The park is on the northern end of Woodland Ave...After a drive down a winding, narrow, road you pull into a horseshoe parking lot that leads to the nature-ctr bldg. There are picnic tables outside to enjoy a break after a hike. Several trails for hiking or biking. Going up Hartley Rd will lead you past a boardwalk trail to a dilapidated root cellar..unsafe to enter. Great time by the family. At a large pond there is a place to rent canoes...well worth the hike at the park.

My family and I had a great time at the Halloween Nature Walk and party before Halloween. The guides at each marker were fun and engaging, and the party inside the building was a blast. My kids particularly loved the balloon room! Great job putting on a fun and educational party HNC!

My child LOVES the nature play area. She explores for so long and I know she can't get too far.

Beautiful nature center with plenty of trails for hiking, biking and skiing. The natural surface (read dirt) trails were closed during spring thaw, but there were still more than enough trails for hiking.

Great Place to go for a walk, sit on a bench and just enjoy nature. And Pokémon Go... and now there are routes for Pokémon Go

The best fat bike riding I have experienced. They do an incredible job of grooming. So much fun.

One of my favorite places to hike! Very family friendly and so many things to do throughout the seasons. Currently, we have been ice skating on the lake!

This is a great place for a hike. The trails are well kept, and easy to follow (abundant signs and marked). There are many spots with great views too.

Absolutely beautiful! Great trails, good parking- there’s always a ton- and the center itself is nice as well. Such a wonderful place & well maintained.

Super awesome hiking trails. Highly recommend going to the rock Knob. You get a great view of all of the neature. Only complaint I have is the maps along the trail are kind of confusing to read, but Google Maps does a GREAT job of making out the major trails. I'd suggest using that (we all had great phone reception, which was a big plus as well)

This is a great place for a fall hike. Nice trail and ski runs. Excellent parking. Dog friendly. Well maintained.

Great trails right in the city of Duluth. The nature center is very kid-focused, but there are often activities for everyone. Rock Knob is a great trail!
