Hanabi Japanese Cuisine

Living on the west coast for 24 years and coming back to MN, this place was a welcoming experience to good authentic food I have been missing since the move back. I can not wait to go back and try other dishes and rolls. The place is clean, the staff was great, and the rolls are top-notch! 👌

This is my husband and I’s favorite Japanese place in Duluth! It’s amazing and the food never disappoints. Happy hour has the best deals and we can always try something new for a decent price.
We love the sushi, fried rice, habachi, gyoza, and the rolls!
I also want to thank the staff, they provide speedy service and are happy to make suggestions.

I have been coming to Hanabi since they opened in 2010. This is the most authentic sushi in Duluth, that I have tasted since being to Tokyo, Japan.
You can’t go wrong with the amazing happy hour value and being surrounded by beautiful artwork.
Over the years I have noticed that the quality of this place all relies on the people they employ. One specific face has always stood out from my recent visits and that would be, Claire.
She’s kind, personable, funny, and a hard worker. She remembers me, the people I come with, and shocked me with remembering my order I usually get when I visit.
She is an asset to Hanabi and I love seeing her. Thanks for all that you do girl!

Shared a meal here with my partner on a Monday night. Enjoyed the selection of spirits, including soju and imported beer. Our server Will made an excellent appetizer suggestion. The food was tasty and flavorful.

This place was great! The server was amazing!!!! My server was so kind as well. Such a gentleman! The wait for a table wasn't long and I didn't mind waiting. The place is small but super cozy. They had low music playing so it was disruptive as all. I ordered the tako Yaki and oysters as the appetizers. Tako Yaki was good, I did however have a piece of almost tawed octopus. I didn't mind. They were hot so the cold piece was welcomed. The oysters tasted great! They came with some spicy sauce that was divine!!!! OMG!!! I don't know what it was made of but as a fan of spicy foods, I was in heaven!!!! For my main I didn't know what to picked so I picked the sushi platter. Came with a little of everything and I enjoyed every piece of it!!! I wanted a drink and when I wasn't sure what to have he suggested a mango drink. It was so amazing!!! Perfect with the spicy oysters! I can't remember the second drink I got but that wad also amazing.
Total came to $111 and come change not bad at all.
10/10 highly recommen!
The parking if off street parking, not sure if they had a lot but I didn't have trouble finding parking.
Only problem I had was the uphill walk back to my car.
It wasn't there fault plus it helped me burn the calories I had just consumed. Win win for me!!!

The place was packed and we still got sat and served so fast! We ordered the muscles and miso soup to start and we literally can’t get over how good the muscles were! We also got the superior roll and the northern roll. Delicious! The food came very quickly and it was very reasonably priced.

Service was phenomenal and the food exceptional! We had a great experience all around. The server was friendly and gave us a great sushi recommendation. The ramen here, although simple in its ingredients, was extraordinary! We were truly surprised by the sheer quality and freshness. Definitely a recommended place to visit when you're in town!

We stopped in on a Duluth trip and had an amazing experience. Our waitress, Emma, catered to us with attentiveness and eagerness. Starting with Happy Hour we ordered a variety of dishes and drinks and all were amazing. Emma made suggestions based on our vegan diets and tasty combinations. We just couldn't stop ordering food. We left stuffed and satisfied. If pricing is a concern, stop in during Happy Hour and you'll be content.

Sky was one of the best servers I’ve had! She was extremely attentive and made the experience even better. My boyfriend and I absolutely love hanabi’s food and we will definitely be coming back!

The food was extremely fresh and well served, I really enjoyed the hanabi rolls and fried udon. the whole restaurant is just a great environment to dine in. I would definitely come back😊.

My family and I had a delightful experience at this restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. We were seated right away and the ambiance is lovely. Beautiful artwork on the walls.

The service is incredible! Our server was Will, and honestly I think he was hosting and serving the entire restaurant - and he was NAILING IT. So friendly and sweet, wildly efficient, and obviously cared about our experience. Such a gem.

I highly recommend this restaurant! Do yourself a favor and get the Tako yaki.

We ordered the Ramen, some rolls and the mochi ice cream. This was my 2nd time here and both times were awesome! Johnathan was our server and he really made the experience both times, helping us with recommendations and just being so personable and fun! Would definitely recommend :)

Everything was amazing! The service, the drinks, and the food was phenomenal! Daddy (Jonathon) was a highlight of our night and we couldn't have asked for a better server! Would certainly go back!

The seating is a bit close to each other. The service is alright as the waiter that was serving us does not really know the Japanese food very well. She even got me the wrong order (I asked for Salmon Roe and she gave me just Salmon and charged me after correcting her and she bringing the salmon roe).

Our family of 6 has dinner at Hanabi to celebrate two family birthdays on a visit to Duluth. We really enjoyed everything we ordered for cocktails, appetizers, sushi, and dessert. There was not one thing that we didn't like. Our service was top notch too. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Duluth!

Yummy, unique sushi rolls in Duluth! The fish seemed to be of good quality and appreciated the diversity of roll options! Got the north shore roll which was yummy although the crunch could have been a more powerful presence to add to the texture diversity. My boyfriend got the crazy tuna roll and he greatly enjoyed its fried nature. Spicy teriyaki chicken was seriously spicy, so be aware!! Apps were pretty good (although the miso soup was a bit too salty for mine!), edamame was fresh and dumplings juicy, but the sushi was really the star of the night. The ambiance was very much “chic modern lounge”, nothing crazy, but is ok- no windows which isn’t ideal, but seems like they’re trying to keep a low profile as it is not in the nicest area. Overall great restaurant, attentive waitstaff and reasonably priced for the food 👍

Loved this place. We had to wait a while to get in because of the social distancing rules in place. Once we got in we were able to order the food immediately. Our server was a really nice guy and since we said we are vegetarians, he suggested the Veggie deluxe rolls which we loved. The litchi martini and hot sake were fantastic. The kids loved all the food we tried - vegetable gyozas, harumakis, different vegetarian rolls. We enjoyed the weird but interesting art that was in display. The only complaint we had was that the food took some time to arrive, but that's not such a big deal to take away a star. We will be sure to visit here again if we are ever in Duluth. Thanks for an enjoyable evening :)

First time coming here and it was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything came out fresh & hot. Hands down the best food I've had in awhile. Out server Tate was also amazing! Great service and was very attentive to us. I would definitely come here again when I come back up here!! I Highly recommend this place!

Their staff is very friendly and attentive. They ran out of the oyster shooters but their scallop shooter was amazing. Highly recommend coming here. The rolls were delicious and we left very full and happy.
